  1. Check your key cylinder--it may be okay, then you you can still use your old key. When my son's '92 Legacy was hit the door handle was cracked but the key cylinder was fine. Good luck.
  2. Got any Pull-n-Pays or junkyards in your area? That might be a good source for you.
  3. According to one calculator site I use, your actual speed will be 15.7% faster than your speedometer reading. When speedo shows 60mph you'll be doing 69.4!!!
  4. Shawn--is "FW Enterprises" Marshall Wolf?
  5. Most manufacturers recommend mounting in the return line, after the tranny.
  6. Good ol' MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) usually does a good job of getting rid of the clicking!
  7. Please add "PA" after your town in the profile, Slegacy. (Not picking on you--it's something EVERYBODY ON THIS BOARD SHOULD DO!)
  8. Use advanced search--enter "shifter bushing" and go to New Gen. Tons of threads.
  9. Welcome aboard drummer. You'll get answers if you post your questions in the "Old Gen" Tech Forum. This one is specifically for talk about shops and tools and technicques. Good luck!
  10. Nice writeup of your process, JW. Should be helpful to others down the road. Thanx.
  11. Fascinating idea! Who knows, might be really good looking. Do you have any friends with "Photoshop" skills? Give them a good side shot or 3/4 view of your wagon and see what they can do. And of course let us see too!
  12. Welcome aboard! What vehicle are you planning to put it into?
  13. But a car is just a big, dumb (albeit cute and lovable) animal. It depends entirely on its Master to provide and care for it. Why waste your money on a split boot and the labor to install it? Get a quality rebuilt genuine Subaru axle to start with and save money in the long run. MWE in Denver is an excellent source by the way. But whichever way you go, good luck.
  14. Just be aware that the "split boot" is an inferior solution! I don't think anyone who knows cars would ever recommend using them. Good luck!
  15. You might want to consider "hub centric rings" to hold the wheels on center. I just googled it and came up with this for example: http://www.justforwheels.com/hub-centric-rings.jsp My wife's Maxima has them to position the alloy wheels and believe me, if one ring gets lost the car is virtually undrivable. (Ask me how I know. Just don't ask me why I ever went to Sam's Club for tires in the first place!)
  16. Having clutch replaced in my '95 Legacy Wagon. Want to make sure I give them the right info. In the attached Opposed Forces graphic, is #8 (Clip-clutch sleeve, 30539AA000) the famous "clip" that must be replaced with new? Is this a dealer-only part? Is the pilot bearing usually replaced with a clutch job--is it dependent on condition or just wise to do anyway? Thanks all.
  17. Yup--in rush hour traffic at the busiest corner in Honolulu! Had to push the Legacy across 3 lanes of oncoming traffic into a parking lot. But it was a nice experience, a few people even blew their horns--I think they were trying to show moral support!!! That was years ago. Replaced the ECTS and the car has run like new ever since.
