  1. Congratulations to him for getting it done! And to you for finding this place! Stick around.
  2. I like Bosch sensors and, yes, Amazon is an excellent place to look. Consider getting a universal type and wiring it up yourself--can save you $25 or $30!
  3. Check the Bosch sensors on Amazon. Good quality product and the best prices I've ever found. http://www.amazon.com/gp/part-finder/slide-show/1995/Subaru/Legacy/ref=au_pf_pfg_s?ie=UTF8&Model=Legacy%7C64&Make=Subaru%7C13&Year=1995%7C1995&vehicleType=5&brand=&partsNode=15730891&carId=001 Consider the universal model--it's not difficult to wire up and saves a lot of money. Put one on my son's '92 Legacy and it's been great. Good luck.
  4. Don't worry about that. Belt marks only line up once every few hundred revolutions! If your crank and pulley marks line up correctly you're golden. Good luck.
  5. I think you'd be better off handling it directly--there are shipping costs and a core deposit to deal with. Just call Marshall directly, here's a link: http://www.ccrengines.com/mwe/
  6. Try a search here on USMB--you'll find that many of us recommend MWE's rebuilt genuine Subaru axles. Good quality at a reasonable price. And Marshall Wolf, the owner, is a straight shooter--I can vouch for that personally.
  7. Just curious, how did you put it in? Did you use the PCV's vacuum hose to suck it into the intake manifold?
  8. Ahhhhhh, I am enjoying the pix. ('Scuse me while I adjust the beach umbrella.)
  9. Amen, Brother! I totally agree with you. That's probably why I've stuck with my wonderfully low-tech '95 Legacy!
  10. Actually not too bad these days--I think you can get one for around $100 delivered from Radiator Barn (or some name like that!) But give the hoses, clamps, etc. a good inspection before you jump to a new radiator. Good luck.
  11. You never mentioned what your original axle was replaced with. If it was a "cheap" aftermarket axle that just might be the problem.
  12. Welcome aboard Todd. With your family's devotion to Subarus you've found a great place here! Re your '92 Legacy--if it seems like a solid car I'd be tempted to just keep it. My son's '92 Leg with 200,000+ miles is one of the sweetest cars I've ever driven. Of course it's had a little TLC and preventive maintenance over the years. That EJ22 engine feels solid as a rock. But obviously any car pushing 20 years will have its own unique problems! The '97 with a EJ22 swap sounds like a good option too. Good luck and keep us up on what you decide to do.
  13. Tuneup usually includes new plugs (use NGKs) and plug wires (OEM!). Also new air and fuel filters--can't speak to the K&N filter, most of us believe in the stock air box and paper filters. Inspect your knock sensor and replace it if it's cracked. New front O2 sensor might help. Check the hoses leading to the PCV to make sure they're not gunked up. If your brakes are hanging up or dragging it can wreck your mpg. Check the brake pads for uneven wear and make sure the slide pins are clean, smooth and well greased (with brake caliper grease only.) That should help your car's efficiency.
  14. Congratulations! Many miles of happy driving to you. Wow, you should win a prize for Northernmost USMB Member! Keep us posted on how things go.
  15. Welcome aboard, ketkuFIN. Depends on the overall condition of the car, but I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage. My son drives a '92 Legacy (EJ22 engine, manual tranny) with similar mileage . . . and I swear it runs better than my '95 Legacy, EJ22, manual tranny, with lower miles!!! Use your best judgment about the vehicle but the EJ22 is a wonderfully simple, durable engine. Good luck.
  16. They've been dead for years. If you're looking for HVAC light procedure here's a pretty good writeup: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/change-heater-control-lights-95-99-legacy-26408.html Hint: Skip step 7. Unhook the control cable from the other end--it's much easier! Good luck.
  17. Yeah, 20/20 hindsight (if it's the pump.) Who did your timing belt? Should always check out everything possible while the front end is opened up. Hope it's a simple fix for you.
  18. Lookin' good! Very classy . . . keep it up.
  19. Nice pair of Subarii! Thanks for sharing the pix. Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hauoli Makahiki Hou! (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.)
