  1. Welcome, Cory! (Now if you will thank me for welcoming you that'll be one more!)
  2. Welcome, Derek. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. You might want to post in the USMB Classifieds, or even in the Older Gen Forum too.
  3. '95 Legacy is OBD2 compliant so you should be able to put a code reader on it. Would be a good place to start.
  4. Ain't it the truth. Like everything else today, it's just a name to be bought and sold!
  5. I remember the Fisk brand from when I was a kid! Found this bit of history on Hemmings: Founded in 1898 by Noyes W. Fisk and son Harry, the manufacturer of bicycle tires soon became a major player in automobile tires. By 1916, Fisk produced 5,000 tires per day in its Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, facilities. Despite introducing the highly successful Safti-Flight tire in 1930, the Great Depression weakened the company. By 1940, Fisk was acquired by U.S.Rubber, which changed its name to Uniroyal in 1967, which merged with B.F.Goodrich in 1986, which was purchased by Michelin in 1990. Still, Fisk-branded tires are marketed today. Fisk was famous for its advertising icon, a sleepy pajama clad little boy with a car tire over his shoulder and carrying a candle. The slogan--"Time to Re-tire!"
  6. Way to go, Athowhen! All it takes is one teensy, hidden bad connection . . . and you found it! That's great to hear. Happy motoring!
  7. Good looking rig, Spencer! Eric told me about it last weekend so it was a kick to see a pic pop up here. Aloha.
  8. Ooops! Just remembered, I bought my last knock sensor on amazon.com, not ebay. They list one at $67.50 for your car. Decisions, decisions! :-\
  9. Ahhhh . . . the ebay conundrum! Of the two choices, I would probably go for the "expensive" one since it lists a Bosch part number. I know ebay can be a crap shoot but I've generally been lucky. So far!
  10. Flip a coin? Considering the mileage and the presumed lack of previous maintenance, they're probably both overdue. Check ebay for the knock sensor. I found a decent one for about $45 not long ago.
  11. Welcome Jon. Can't say whether or not the plugs are the cause of your problem--all I ever use is the most basic NGK copper plug and they are perfectly fine. Did you change the plug wires? If not I'd recommend you do that, use OEM wires. Good luck.
  12. You've got to stop posting this pic, McBrat. The drool is making a real mess of my keyboard.
  13. When you get the over-heating is it happening at all 4 wheels or just the fronts? Does one side get hotter than the other? Have you checked your caliper slides and piston seals for "stickiness?"
  14. Thanks gentlemen, very helpful. Quick followup questions: 1) Does Subaru still require that their "stop leak" be added to the coolant? Specifically, do they in the '08 Forester? 2) Do Foresters come from the factory with the Legacy style (roller?) rear wheel bearings now? In the '08 model?
  15. What is a flush and refill at jiffy lube going to cost? If you do it yourself 3 drain-and-fills is not a waste of money--and may be a lot safer than letting jiffy lube anywhere near your car! Sorry if I sound cynical. I wish you good luck whichever way you go.
  16. Sorry about your bad luck, Shaggin, but you shouldn't tell people what to do, or not do, based on your singular experience. My son picked one up from Pull n' Pay a year and a half ago and it's worked perfectly every day since then. Saved him some big bucks too.
