  1. Check out some of the "Similar Threads" at the bottom of this page and use the "Search" function up top--lotsa' previous discussion that will help you understand the job. Good luck.
  2. Hey, that's a real piece of our automotive history. The Goliath/Lloyd H-4 was the model Subaru used when they went for horizontally opposed engines, not the Volkswagen as some think! Good luck with it--hope you can get it reasonably restored some day.
  3. I've been looking for awhile too. Here are a couple of sites that might help: http://www.carlsalter.com/wheel_fitments.html http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp Good luck--let us know if you find some you like.
  4. Sorry ron, but only you can decide which is the best way to go--flush or drain-and-fill, how much to pay for fluids. But you might be interested in the numbers shown here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=621866 Good luck!
  5. Welcome mwangix, that's great to hear. What year/model Subaru do you have? Hang in there and don't be afraid to ask questions. Enjoy!
  6. Well, I think you found the right place! Welcome aboard, zinomori. Enjoy!
  7. For the oil pump I would stick with what's recommended--Permatex Ultra Grey or an anaerobic sealant (is that the $20 red stuff?)
  8. A very satisfying fix! Suggestions (from somewhat faded memory): Get the bulbs from Radio Shack--much cheaper than dealer. And disconnect the cable from the bottom--much easier than trying to un-attach from the top. Good luck & have fun.
  9. It's Permatex Ultra Grey, not 3M. And it is not anaerobic but it is what most people seem to use on the separator plate. Good luck.
  10. Wow! Congrats on the fix, Giovara. And thanks for the great information, 987687. Once again you've shown that USMB is the best resource a Subaru lover can have!
  11. Welcome aboard, Pete. Hope it works out for you--would make a perfect Subaru love story! Good luck.
  12. Sounds like a good plan, just be aware that the '97 EJ22 is an interference engine. We used a kit from The Import Experts--belt, idlers and water pump--on my son's '92 Legacy. Everything appeared to be good quality and it saved significant coin. But some things "must be" OEM: water pump gasket, thermostat, cam & crank seals, oil pump o-ring, cam o-rings (left front & right rear.) It's worth the little bit more cost. Good luck PAJ, and do keep us up on your progress.
  13. Way to go Curtis! Keep us up on your progress--pix are always nice.
  14. Might be helpful to identify the geographical area where this is happening.
  15. Here's a thread that might help you with the oil pump (search is your friend.) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=112590&highlight=pump+seal
  16. Ain't it the truth--and aren't we fortunate! GD makes an excellent point. Everything we need to know is out there, it just takes a little dedicated effort to search it out.
  17. I think the owner is trying to put one over on you. The very first Outback (1995) was little more than a Legacy Wagon with two-tone paint. You're right about the engines.
  18. You guys are too funny. Your thread title sure caught my attention, Larry!
  19. Good catch, or good luck. Or both! If I were you I'd call the manager of that Goodyear shop and let him know what happened. They owe you one.
  20. Welcome aboard, jon. No wonder you're in love--she's beautiful! You've found a great place for help here. Good folks who will give you great guidance and advice. And learn to use the search function, fantastic amount of info from the past. Yes, those singing birds just love to aim at a white car! Good luck.
