  1. I wonder if a bad coolant temperature sensor could be part of the problem.
  2. Welcome to USMB, 'utility. Yeah, those white wagon wheels just look so right on that model. Sweet lookin' ride.
  3. Welcome aboard, Slamn--you'll find a lot of knowledge and help here. And yes, the '92 Legacy is a wonderful machine with a great engine! Enjoy!
  4. IIRC, early EJ22s with auto trannys had EGR, EJ22s with manual trannys did not. Hopefully someone will chime in with a solution or a workaround for you. Good luck.
  5. One should never say always, nipper. Would you care to elaborate on why you feel this is the reason?
  6. You might consider replacing the PCV hose that connects to the block--I've seen one with a split that was virtually impossible to see.
  7. Read this and follow the links: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=108631 Good luck.
  8. Hi jacearby! Post your question on the Old Gen Forum--better chances of getting responses there. Good Luck.
  9. Welcome aboard, mrNoisy--you found the right place here! Nice looking wagon.
  10. Why? It's electrical stuff, it's magic. No one knows how or why. Just be thankful and enjoy the fact that the car starts and runs! Seriously, congratulations--good job of sleuthing. Has to be a bad/weak connection no matter how clean it looked. Bright side is, if it happens again you know exactly where to go to solve the problem. Good luck.
  11. You are certainly welcome to your opinion on the placement, 91Loyale, but every resource I have found, including manufacturers, recommends putting the aux cooler in the return line after the radiator. This provides for the greatest efficiency. Generally like this: http://www.carcraft.com/howto/transmission_cooler_install/photo_03.html
  12. Excess heat can be a real tranny killer, so an auxiliary cooler would be good insurance. I put one on my wife's auto tranny Maxima since driving here is mostly warm weather city stop & go. Mounted it in front of the radiator/condenser on a small frame I fabbed out of aluminum stock (couldn't bring myself to zip tie it to the condenser as the instructions said!!!) Plumbed it into the fluid return line (after the radiator), added a Magnefine filter after the aux cooler, then back to the tranny. Hope this helps. Good luck.
  13. Welcome aboard, Pat. Sounds like you have a great project starting. You found the right place here!
  14. Welcome aboard and congrats on the Subie. Whether you want to wrench on it or just learn about it, this site is a great place to be--lotsa' helpful folk here.
  15. Welcome aboard, Brian. Great place this here USMB!
  16. Welcome home, MTSuby. Go for it on the timing belt job, you can do it! Just read everything you can before you start and ask questions here as you go.
  17. To get a feel for prices in your area check out Craigslist and other websites to see what people are asking. Then look the car up on Kelley Blue Book (KBB, aka "The Dealer's Friend!") to find an inflated price. Then on Edmunds TMV (True Market Value) to find a realistic price based on actual sales. Good luck. Keep looking, you'll find the car you want.
  18. Congrats, Robert. Good luck with the axle tomorrow--and with Dad's truck. Let us know down the road how much you're enjoying your "shiney new" Subaru!
  19. Those patterns with the little yellow flowers look nice too.
  20. Maybe look for a clutch/compressor at a pull-and-pay or salvage yard and chance 'um?
  21. Can you recommend a website or resource for the procedure? Doubt that I'd ever try doing it but would like to know the "how"! Thnx.
