  1. Jvigue--you should post this question in the Newer Generation forum.
  2. Welcome to the USMB, Lorne. Please post your technical questions in the Newer Generation forum--that's where you'll get help. And you might also try the Search function (top right on this page.) There's been a lot of discussion of the brake and warm-start problems over the years. Good luck.
  3. Welcome to the USMB, Bryan. Of course you can continue to post and share here! Just be aware that there may be differences between your Subaru models and ours. But hey--they're all great cars.
  4. Welcome to the USMB, wagoner! Wow--an '86 GL Wagon, fantastic! I loved my '85 wagons--a DL and a GL. Got any pix to share?
  5. Hello to MN, welcome to the USMB!
  6. Hi, Matthias--welcome to USMB! You've found a great car and a great place here to learn about it. My wife and I have very warm memories of Austria--beautiful country and lovely people! Aloha!
  7. Sorry Rooster, but I've never heard that and I've never seen any documentation to prove it. So until I see proof to the contrary I'll stick by my statement.
  8. Another benefit--the '96 EJ22 was the last year of the NON-interference engine design. If the timing belt breaks it doesn't cause valve damage!
  9. Any salvage yards or pull n' pays in your area? Might find a replacement there. Good luck!
  10. The ECTS (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor) is a good possibility. Worth replacing. And definitely do the Timing Belt and front end--unless you know it has already been done.
  11. How many miles on the car? Any idea when it last had a tune-up? I'd definitely start with new air and fuel filters. New plugs and wires too (use NGK plugs and NGK or OEM wires only.) Clean the IACV. Replace the PCV and clean the hoses that connect to it. Let us know how it goes . . . and good luck.
  12. Welcome to the USMB, Stuck Sube! You've found a great resource here--but please post your questions in the New Generation Forum--that's the place to get "technical help." Good luck!
  13. That's maddening! If your A/C was working okay before you took it in, I'd suggest you do call the Service Manager. And if he doesn't offer any help, call Subaru of America and get your complaint on the record.
  14. Welcome to the USMB, time. Car looks good, especially in those mountains--how does she drive?
  15. Welcome to the USMB, Tall Bald and Ugly! (Hmmm, sounds like I'm addressing myself here!) Please post your questions in the New Generation Forum.
  16. Wow, that's a pretty little truck! Thanks for sharing it with us. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Oh! And welcome to the USMB!
  17. Good going!!! Just curious--what are you going to do with it now you've got it out?
  18. Welcome to USMB, BryaN! You've found the right place here! What do you mean by "it's a shell?" What's missing? What's remaining?
  19. Did you accidentally hit the "virgin switch" bmaness? (On top of the steering column shroud, in front of the steering wheel.) Edit: Ooops! That wouldn't cause blinking would it?
  20. Welcome aboard, Ana! You're gonna' love your Subaru--and you're gonna' love the USMB. Good folks here and great information. But you've got my curiosity up! What's a DSM?
  21. Not sure about the compatibility of the swap--hopefully others will chime in on that. Just be aware that from 1997 on the EJ22 became an interference engine.
