You should be fine, takes a serious impact to mess with one of those sensors, although if it is water damaged you will want to pull the fuse and/or disconect the airbags as airbag deployment timing could be off now if you were to get into an accident it could hurt you as aibags deploy at approx 300 mph. And yes these parts are expensive, if you have a deployment of the airbags in a car you generally have to replace the airbags, steering column "clockspring", sensors, and module (depends on manufacture recomendations) I hope this helps, a little advice from your freindly usmb lurker body shop guy.

Thanks for the complements guys. Its got a little rust in the rear quarters but nothing serious, I cleaned it up today, its pretty nice lookin now, and took it for a spin. Found the leak in the radiator, not fixable, and that the water pump is on its way out, no biggie, and adjusted the carb. I have to say I'm likin it, its a great little car especially considering it was free. More pics lol -
I picked it up today from the original owner, its been sitting since 2004. 2TC engine, 5 Speed, RWD, Deluxe model, a $20 junkyard battery, a squirt of starting fluid, some fresh gas, and she fired right up and drove out of the woods and right up onto the trailor. Here's some pics, a deep cleaning is first on the list, then the radiator it suposedly needs, and any other little things. Just figured I would share my little non sooby score. Now if only I could find a Brat like this.

My 1986 Subaru Leone GL Wagon!
Ken_B replied to Dodge Aries K's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice lookin wagon, you should be a pro at head gaskets by now, Im assuming you own a K car by your name. IIRC its easiest to do the h/g with the engine out of the car on EA82's. -
The more I sse of that Sasquatch the more and more I like it, and that D-50 aint half bad either.

And you have F.I. too right? Those are all options Im glad my DL doesnt have, I like my cars as basic as they come w/o all that power crap. Although D/R would be nice...... -

What RPMS does a 4 speed d/r EA81 run at: 60 MPH: 65 MPH: 70 MPH: 75 MPH: What is the redline of and EA81? What RPMS does a 5 speed s/r EA82 run at: 60 MPH: 65 MPH: 70 MPH: 75 MPH: What is the redline of and EA82? If you had a choice which car would you take on a trip from Western Washington to Southeastern Wyoming, assuming they both are in about the same average good condition and both are carbed and both have an equal amout of "stuff" in them, which would you take?
-
Yeah, if you could take some pics of this for me that would be great.

That wouldn't surprise me, kinda like a pullout sofa bed compared to a real bed. Im getting really sick of the metal bar going accross my lower back in my old wore out drivers seat and the plastic trashbag cover I had to put on the bottem because someones f%ing cat snuck into my garage and used the seat pad as a toilet.
-
What other Subaru seats will fit in my 1987 DL 4x4 Wagon? All I have found is Legacy seats will, any others that bolt in easy? I only am concerned about front seats as they need replacement, especially the drivers, and I keep the rear folded down most of the time. Oh, and is there anybody in western Washington that wants to sell or give me some seats ?

Go with a 4.0 Ranger or a 4.3 S10, they have great engines and solid transmissions. The a 4.0 in the Ranger, because Ranger 3.0 does not make the power it should and is a HEAVY engine, Iron Heads and Block, that really runs its best on midgrade or higher gas, my buddy has one with 99,000 miles that has horrible detonation problems unless its got midgrade gas in it. Personally I would go for a 4.3 S10. I had a 1988 4.3 Auto 4x4 extended cab with 301,000 miles on it when I sold it, wish I hadn't, never really had any problems other that the tranny going around 200,000. One thing to watch with these is oil consumption if they burn oil on startup they have been run low on oil at some time in their life, other that that great trucks. The 4.3 is essentially a 350 with 2 cylinders lopped off.

Heres mine, need more pics but it is the #1 rated DL on cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3199398

The car is an EA82, went through Schucks, and the issue I had was the hub part of the axel that attahes to the stub sticking out of the side of the trans did not fit the supposed 4wd axels but the 2wd axels fit perfectly. Anyways, I got the car fixed now....... .....after having to order 3 sets of axels to finally get some that fit.
-
My 1987 DL single range 4wd takes 2wd front axels, not the 4wd axels. WTF is up with that?
-
You know it! Best looking EA82's, gotta love the throwback to the EA81 look. And good luck getting that rust stopped. I love it up here in Washington, my DL only has a tiny little bit of surface rust that will be getting repaired this spring.
