  1. Who can give us the measurement of the proper center hole size to fit an EA81 and EA82? That way when looking for rims we know if we have the correct chevy rim or not. I know that the imports will mostly work. Thanks!
  2. That looks really nice. I will look into getting that. Thank you for the very helpful information/experience. I have a triple gauge setup that is mounted in the radio DIN. Hopefully the other half will have more than a pocket, someday. Thanks again.
  3. Right on. I'll probably make a fitting or modify one. I miss PDX. It was a great city to live in... but those were VW days.
  4. Thanks. All of that makes sense. Now I see the 1/8" plug, after you mention it. I tried removing it but the little sucker is seized and the 5mm allen hole is slightly stripped out. I might have to drill it and helli-coil it. Since it's facing down, it shouldn't get filings into the pump if I'm careful. Maybe it will even come out with a reversed bit before I even go all the way through. That would be rad. For the temp adapter, I have to find a Male M16x1.5 to Female M16x1.5 fitting and modify it to seat the cap. sensor nicely. The only place around here with a selection of metric pressure fittings is CAT. We'll see... Either that or find one that adapts to the adapters that came with the unit (like what was said above), but that is an extra piece in there and I'd like to do things a little more cleanly. We'll see... Thanks again.
  5. What kind of engine are you putting this on? Not to hijack the thread, but hopefully my info will help. I'm in the process of installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge and a capillary style temp gauge. I have an EA82, carbed. I'm having issues on the Temp sensor because it is too long to let the threads even engage. It bottoms out on the inside of the coolant passageway in the engine. In the process of looking for a fitting to bump it out a ways, I figured out that the thread size is M16 x 1.5 for the Temp sensor. Now to find the correct fitting... Damn USA and metric availability I second the question about the oil sender. What is the thread size for that one? It seems to be bigger than the Temp sensor. Thanks
  6. OK, I should say thanks to the other oil pressure threads. After reading the related threads I think I'll get one of those little after market gauge clusters and throw it in with a new sender. That sounds a little bit more reliable than the stock gauge. Maybe I'll get one with temp, too.
  7. I forgot to mention: it has about 140000 miles on the odometer.
  8. Thanks. I wasn't really worried about running it at those pressures, but this is my first EA82 and I'm not really sure what to expect as far as the idiosyncrasies. What is "normal" oil pressure on this engine?
  9. Yesterday I pulled the trigger on my latest 4x4 project. It's an '89 GL with a carb & dual range 5 spd. I've only owned it for a day and already love it. More explanation on that to come... As I was driving it home I noticed that after it warmed up, the oil pressure gauge was reading a lower than normal pressure. At idle it sits at maybe 10 psi and at 4000 rpm it slowly moves up to just under 45 psi. The engine doesn't burn any oil and there are no ticky valves. Any thoughts? I'm thinking any of these things: -sending unit -pump -crankshaft bearings? Thanks in advance. This forum is invaluable.
