Brat Electrical Q's
ironworkerboomer replied to brat69's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
UGG Why do PO hack and slash like they do. Mine was at least done by a determined rodent so no rerouting and such. Stick with it or start searching for a doner harness. I was thinking about a painless wiring kit for another project. I've used then in jeeps in the past. But I wasn't going to use the stock gauges for that one.- 22 replies

to weld or not to weld...
ironworkerboomer replied to RustyBrat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I picked up a spare rear diff to weld so if I screwed up and it breaks, I could plug in the original. -

Is brat in your possession yet? I really want to see it clean. -
Thanks for the photos. I wheeled Walker Valley when I lived in Portland late 90'S but never in a Subaru I had a 67 Bronco with 4 inch lift and 33's, locker and broke something every time I should have took my wagon instead.

1982 corvette rescue
ironworkerboomer replied to ironworkerboomer's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
Thank,s it has been a challenge to put it back together. The change from TBIx2 to four bbl in itself was a pain there is no room between engine and hood. I don't know if I would tackle another vette unless it was in one piece before I got it. -

I purchased an 82 corvette last fall, I know what was I thinking. well its been a struggle to say the least but I AM finally seeing the end of the tunnel. The car had no engine or trans both removed by the PO. I got boxes of parts the block (junk) heads (more junk) trans 700r4 first generation. So I bought engine from buddy out of 69 nova he wants a big block. rebuilt the trans. and sorted out a mile of wiring. The car was originally a dual throttle body (go figure use new technology and double it for good measure. I don't have an engineering degree so I don't understand. trans rebuilt with shift improver kit engine removed and awaiting install fixed a myriad of issues along the way drank a lot of beer in the process. Spent some quality time with my son, me and buddies drank the beer after he went to bed so no hating. drove it on Sunday and she runs good

Brand New Subaru Owner - '84 GL AWD
ironworkerboomer replied to JustGo_GL's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Welcome. Where is the time machine you used to get this wagon, and can I borrow it? Movie idea could be cool. May karma (I don't believe in luck) be on your side. And Don't worry about the carb if it runs good it will be fine. I use a fuel additive in my brat. Everyone has there own preference ams oil ect. If you think its lean adjust the air/fuel mixture screw out 1/4-1/2 turn. Its at the base of the carb. Just don't get crazy. And if you sell this little jewel after this, I'm callin dibs -

Have you made the deal yet? I am making my pilgrimage to a 1981 Brat on the Montana side of Idaho. I have been trying to buy for the last 6 years or so. The owner tells me every year he is going to make and electric car out of it. -

Don't be afraid of it sitting so long buy it, don't try to start it before you do some preventative measures. I would drag it on my trailer first stop car wash blow all the grime off you can.Under-hood and under-carriage. Be careful under-hood! take it home pull dash and interior clean clean clean (stooopid mice) Soak the cylinders with Marvel Mystery oil, spark plugs and old oil that will show you a lot about the care or lack of. Brakes and new rubber lines I never cheap out on. This is a nice find if the price is right. If you cant stretch your post college budget then kick it to a fellow Idahoan -
I used 14 inch. The same size in a 15 would have been an inch taller and as you can see with no lift its full with the 14 and as soon as I money up getting these same size as pictured above BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO Tire LT195/75R14 Just my 2cents compare with the stock 13
