  1. 140s are what I run. Search back.. I was in a similar situation, wondering about the "proper" setup for a 32/36. All the info is still here on the board.
  2. Oh yes, and since its been about a year, heres an update on this swap. I've since finished re-doing my bad rump roast headlight relays, and am now pushing 700 watts through my stock headlamp locations. Feel the heat! Well, after about a week of running with the new highs, and having to jump off several other vehicles, I finally toasted my stock harness, and I mean toasted it! Smoldering plastic was the result. The solution was easy, and was mentioned earlier in the thread: run a heavy gauge wire from the alternator direct to the battery. I personally ran a 0 gauge from the alternator charging lug, to the hot side of the battery, cut off the fried end from the original harness and shrink wrapped the puppy. The battery meter on the dash continues to operate normally, it just gets its voltage reading from the other end of the harness now. As a safety thing, I also swapped out the old alt for a new one under warranty. I wasnt really fond of how the plastic isolator on the alternator also somehow got hot and melted. No biggie. Warranty swap, filed it down, and kept on truckin. This concludes my update. Rock on.
  3. Aaaahhh, I see that it is no longer there. Reason why? I dont know. I also coulda swore that I included a link to the writeup within this thread. Oh well, here we are once again: http://random.fjeer.us/altswap.html The complete writeup is available at the above URL. Cheers.
  4. Yeah, it was there once before... did it get lost in the "adjustments" that were made to the USRM?
  5. Great day... we done drifted away from the original point of the thread.. More R200 info pls. (I've got 5 R200s at the house.. out of my Datsun Z cars... so this might be worthwhile if the lockers fit and all.)
  6. Well, Jax Beach and Daytona Bch both offer "city sanctioned" beach access. Daytona even has a named street...which is nothing but the high end of the beach. I've never been out on it, but I've heard that WPB also has beach access. St Petersburg Bch (Maximo Bch) used to offer access, not sanctioned access, but "if you dare" type. I'm unsure wether thats still the case. All around my place - Wakulla, Franklin, Taylor counties, motorized vehicles are expressly prohibited on the beaches. ie: Go directly to jail, do not pass go, you forfeit your car, and pay a $2000 fine. I'm glad I live in the forest. Plenty of sinks to swim in, plenty of sugar sand to get stuck in (simulated beach?), and as long as you're not doing anything obviously stupid, the law couldnt care less. Not too many of us Florida chaps here on the board.. but maybe some of the other three will chime in.
  7. I'm just glad to see the ol girl go to a home where she'll be taken care of and restored like she should be. I know it wasnt the prettiest damn thing, but he's got one hell of a car sitting there, that wont take all that much work to get back to "pretty" condition. I've seen much much worse. Those that passed missed out. Its kinda sad.. I pull back into my driveway out in the woods, and I immediately noticed the dirt patch that was left behind...glaring at me as I drove around to my spot in the back. Now, when I back out, I have no readily visible landmark to pivot around so I miss the shrubs and other plant life that my mother is trying desperately to grow and "make nice". I already miss my big blue lawn gnome. :-\ subyluvr2212: If you need some help with anything, now that I know where you live I could easily pop down and give you a hand. Plus, you could source me some OEM parts for the Brat on the cheap side that I would get raped on from the dealer up here. Keep the pics comin. Can never have too many posted. Speaking of which, I must go out to the forest and make some more Brat porn sometime soon. .R
  8. We're doing this again? Okay, I'll bite. Before I ripped one of the capture nuts out of my framerail about 6 months ago, making the Brat undrivable (till it finally got fixed yesterday, woohoo!), I netted 17/24, mixed city/hwy out of it. 6" lift, 30" tyres, 4spd D/R, Weber32/36 Cheers.
  9. ^^ Ditto. But just much less here. Only a couple late EA82s, and nothing else.
  10. 102" Whip with a DX959 Galaxy rig, pushing 35-40W on the Bronco 6' Wilson fibreglass stick with a lil RadioShack rig, 2W, on the Brat Hells yeah, rock on.
  11. I missed the original thread... but seeing the pics of them purdy wheels almost makes me want to swap the Brat back to 4 lug. A set of 15x8s would be sweet... but #1, I'm poor. #2, I'm lazy. So I'll go back to daydreamin'...
  12. I got the image of pirates and pillagin' when I read this thread's title. Perdy pix.
  13. I saw the word virgin and almost tripped over the chair trying to get to the keyboard before anyone else... Just kidding. But since you're looking into new engine territory, I have to give a shameless plug to CCR.. http://www.ccrengines.com They have done a lot of business with members of the board (not me yet, thank God).. and there have been nothing but praises (that I've seen) from their clients. Cheers...
  14. Bias ply flat spots happen in all weather. Just in warm weather, it takes less time for the tire to warm up and round out again.
  15. Anybody checked out the TSL/SX line? I'm still interested in the 31x1350s. Be especially nifty for the conditions around me.. sugar sand up to your knees. Theres also 30x1150s in that line. Smaller overall diameter, but got that extra width to float. Since I'm a cheap bastard, this would probably be the route I take when I get the money moving again to upgrade. 172.99 and 111.99 respectively, at 4wpw.
  16. Yeah, like a site I'm trying to get set up to archive all the kickass videos that get posted here.... http://random.removed.us/gallery/ (dont forget that trailing "/"!!)
  17. Heh.. I had it already.. upped it to my site, but was sent on jobs elsewhere before I could post. Good job Morgan.
  18. Sliding it forwards is an option, however, I dont have small girly hands to wedge into the space to remove the clutchpack. Since you're already that far.. might as well pull it out and stick the block on a table to polish up all the chrome.. and/or to install some chrome to polish.
  19. IMO, they're all the same. You'd have the best luck with an Outback or Forester, as thats what most of the lift/mods research is being poured into.
  20. I attempted a submission back in January. Probably didnt make it past the editors circular file.. Seeing you made it through, I should snap some more pics and send em in. If enough of us "show our asses", it might poke and prod them into looking at carrying a small array of subie parts once they realize just how many of us there are. I'm still waiting for an OX Locker for the R160/180/200.
  21. As usual, click the thumbs to get a larger version. -Raven --- "I don't remember if I've shared this one yet. This bracket bolts to the strut rod mounting holes already on the Brat and then the rear pivot bushing on the Impreza 'A' arm bolts to this. The shiny bolt that can be seen mounts through the factory frame rail and I had to drill a new hole for this. Gary" "Here's a shot with the 14" rims/tires. However, the engine/trans are not installed at this time, so I imagine the front end will settle about 2". Gary" "Here's a little 'TEASER' This is what it will look like with the 15" rims and the 27" tires. Gary"
  22. Yeah. I'm still alive. After Hurricane Dennis came ashore, I was kept mucho busy with the Red Cross giving assistance to those in my county that needed it. I'm sure yall heard of St. Marks on some of the news networks.. well, thats a community about 6 miles from my home, so I was there just as the water was beginning to recede and for the additional week and a half afterwards. I just checked the email, and see the images you sent. I'll get on em tonight after I get off work.
