  1. from what I gathered searching around. I would figure the wheel being about 20 pounds and the tires being anywhere from 35-50 pounds for a 27-31" tire. I'm basing the tire weight off the BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM2, which looks like a badass tire. It's probably safe to say 50-70 pounds for any given tire and wheel combo in the sizes we use.
  2. Well I got my clutch done last night at my friends. It's really different feeling than the old one since it actually works properly. I'm just going to take it easy for the next tank of gas or so for the break in. the old clutch was about half the thickness as the new one. It was also glazed to hell. old clutch: old flywheel: New clutch: Shiny new flywheel that my friend wrote on. Do you guys think I need a new radiator? my friend holding the radiator. Exedy has some funny cartoons on their clutch kits.
  3. Thanks for the insight GD. I'll ask my friend tomorrow about what jets he has in the carbs. I'll probably get to making an adaptor plate next week.
  4. I was wondering if these jet settings look right to you guys for an EA82. It's all I could find searching around. I might be trying it on a weber 32/36 or the holley 5200 since my friend has a few laying around. 140/140 mains 170/160 air correctors 50 idle jets Also would the 160 air corrector be on the smaller barrel? Thanks guys.
  5. Edit: got my answer in the other forum. Also, I'm going to be replacing my clutch and flywheel tomorrow so I'll try to take some pics of that. After I have that done I might start getting my tires and wheels sorted out. I'm going to wait until the clutch is broken in before putting bigger tires on though. I'm also hoping the new clutch helps my mileage since last time I filled up I got 20mpg. I'm fairly certain that most of that horrible mileage is due to the slipping clutch and need to have my foot to the floor to get up any inclines.
  6. I might be interested in one in the future. Especially if I get a different daily than my soob, or if you think it would be daily drivable on crappy days that I can't ride a motorcycle. Either way it sounds like a good idea to me.
  7. does this look right for the jets you guy run in your webers? 140/140 mains 170/160 air correctors 50 idle jets
  8. I have a question for you Weber guys out there. What jet sizes are you running? I'm asking because I might swap this hitachi for my friends holley 5200 which is basically a 32/36. I'm thinking of making an adapter plate in my welding class to use the carb until I can get and SPFI setup together.
  9. I agree with it being somewhat boring only having 2 cars. This next season will be interesting with block and atkinson being in the mix. I don't think it will matter how friendly he is. All I have heard about Loeb is that he's a wongleflute in person and everyone thinks he's awesome just because he wins all the time.
  10. How would I tell is the clutch cable is too tight or if there is oil dripping? I assume I'll just find out when I pull the engine for the latter. Here's the better pics of my car. Took a few of the bad rust spots. mud! yummy . . . This is my custom ram air scoop . . anyways, I decided that I'm going to replace the rear muffler with a cherry bomb glasspack that I have laying in my shed. The car is too damn quiet and can only kinda hear it when I'm past ~4500rpm and that bugs the hell out of me. I might do that this weekend if I can use my friends welder.
  11. I sold my 86 Toyota MR2 that I had owned for 4 years last thursday so I had some money to get another subaru wagon. I had been wanting another since I traded my Loyale last year. I found this 87 GL with DR trans for $650. The car sat for quite awhile so it has some issues but it's been pretty good daily driving it so far. The interior is also in great shape and even has the rear privacy cover. It's got the crap Hitachi carb that is making my performance suck. The clutch slips a bit but I have an Exedy clutch kit on the way, should be here this week. It's also got some rust spots. The worst spot is on the front edge of the hood. there are also two holes rusted into the little cubby holes like where the jack is but one hole on each side of the car. The wheel arches and a couple other spots have rust bubbles. But that gives me an excuse to trim the fenders for when I get some bigger tires. My plans for it are: -replace the clutch -bleed brakes -put some 27's -29's on it -Fab some steel bumpers -possibly a 2" lift (I found some 3/16 2" square tubing at school) -replace the radiator (cooling fins are disintegrating) -replace all the hoses -get the GM 100amp alt (I think mine is going bad, but amps are good anyways) -SPFI if I can find all the parts. Possibly a weber/holley 5200 (my friend has a spare 5200 I can mess with) -EJ swap in the distant future. (if things go well maybe as soon as this summer) I picked up an LSD at the junkyard for $60 yesterday. I Also got some black powder coated steel wheels for $60, toyota backspacing so they should be good. The guy said they're made by Micky Thompson. Talk about some good luck finding a decent cheap car and some cheap parts. I'll get some pics of the wheels and better ones of the car tomorrow. It's been pretty gloomy lately and all I have is an iphone for pics right now.
  12. That looks awesome. I can't wait until I get another subie. I looked at one tonight but the idiot hasn't gotten the title yet.
  13. Actually, if you have two parts cars with working engines just bring the engines to the track with you. It doesn't take long at all to swap them out.
  14. It kind of depends on the track but I know that neither an EA81 or EA82 would do well at all at thunder hill. I did the last race there in a ford festiva with a 323 1.6L and we got stomped. we missed 50th place by 1 second and got 3rd in our class. Our car wasn't the fastest but it handles pretty decent. Most of the cars out there have been through several races and are getting really fast. The festiva is going to be much faster at the next race with our mazda BP swap. We may slap a turbo on there but we'll have to see how much energy we want to put into it. I just don't think the subaru engines would be up to the continuous high rpm abuse. I was really surprise that our festiva lasted the race with being at the top of 3rd for most of it since we didn't have much power. Also the whole bumping and crashing thing has really been toned down. It does still happen from time to time but it's no where near as bad as it was when we raced at Altamont. I didn't get bumped once at the last race. I also wanted to ad that the 4wd system would end up being dead weight since you'd end up just breaking it on dry pavement. It might be useful if it rained but even then there might just be too much traction.
  15. How much of Elbe hills were you able to take the subie through? I've never been there but my friend was saying that I wouldn't be able to take one through very much when I get a new one and lift it.
  16. Well that wasn't me, my loyale is white with a blue hood, no grille/black coupe grille, and H alloys. Don't even remember where the pizza hut is over there to be honest, I haven't gone to it for a very long time.
  17. I'm not in Longview but I go down there to visit my dad fairly often. I should be there this weekend to finish doing the head gasket on his chevy truck.
  18. Honda used to sell rebadged Isuzu Rodeos as the Honda Passport. They also had sold D series engines for use in some Rovers in the UK. That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more.
  19. Taken a few days ago. Broke down on the side of the road. just got it back home yesterday. I didn't get a pic of it being buried under a snowbank from the plows:(.
  20. They're also working on that RWD boxer car with Toyota. I haven't heard of this Honda pairing though, any more info on that?
  21. so are the 14" spares stronger? How wide are they? also what size tires were you running on them?
  22. Has anyone considered widening a set of spare tire wheels? I noticed the other day that they're a 15x4" wheel. That's a bit to narrow to have most tires on so I was wondering if widening them is a viable option. Is it just not cost effective? Also does anyone know how much it would cost or know a place between seattle and portland that does it?
  23. yeah if you could send me that it would be great. also if you have the dates and locations of the rallies. I know there are several near me in the Olympia area. I would be fine letting you stay here to save on hotel costs. i also have a good sized driveway so there is room for a tow rig and trailer.
