  1. I heard through the grapevine that John is pretty busy of late. I guess he is moving his family into a new dwelling. Be patient with John for the next little bit. donny tyler
  2. Results are up: http://www.oregonrally.com/?page=results Nice work everyone!
  3. Yes, that rally X kicked some a**. If only i had better tires, i would have brought home a trophy. Ed, i was the one that placed 5th....i think jason was at 12th....And the cool thing was, there where so many people there, jason was still about mid pack.... Nice job John, way to bring it home! I hope you do more next year, so i can have someone to chase It was cool to meet everyone. I heard some of the moderators of the event talking about Qman's runs. They were pretty dumbfounded that a little subaru was getting such fast times....Nice job man. Zapper seemed to be on fire....Who knew a lifted hatch could move like that All in all, i had a great time. I can't wait until next year. Do any of you have some property that we could track up this winter? It would be cool to have a USMB rallyX....I may have a lead on some land that could be used, but it is in central oregon....kind of out of the way....
  4. I have 3 relays there, do you happen to know which one it is? left center or right?
  5. I have an 81 hatch, can someone tell me where the relay may be located for the passing/center lamp.
  6. If you are asking where i am at, i am in central Oregon now. I was born in Jackson Hole, and grew up in a small town 70 miles south of there called Afton. There is alot of good 4X4 trails in and around there. Yea i fish. I hate Oregon fishing. In Wyoming i guess i did something more on the lines of Catching instead of fishing. The fish here seem to be spread thin. There is nothing like a good day of fishing in wyoming. One of the last fish i caught in wyoming was a big fat healthy 22 inch german brown. Those fish are more than common in Wyoming waters. I think my biggest brown in Oregon so far is like 17 or 18 inches. I did land a 21 inch rainbow trout....i think i just got lucky on that one I have been rolling the thought through my head that i might pack up this winter for a snowboard trip to jackson. I miss Teton Village tremendously. Maybe if some of us could meet up there.
  7. Born and raised....i might be open to coming back there for some trail riding. Maybe next summer we can organize the first Wyoming Subaru Challenge! But we have to do it on the west side of the state. I know of some good fun that can be had over there. This is cool that there are people in Wyoming that like the all-mighty Subaru! Anyway, welcome to the board. I hope to meet you Wyoming folk someday. donny tyler
  8. Ok, so i am having some problems with the electrical system in my hatch. I guess i will start by naming all of the problems, and hopefully there is a similar issue that is making things not work. First and fore most the headlights and "cyclops light" won't turn on. The parking lights and blinkers on the other hand will. When i turn on the headlights i can hear the sylinoid click. Next, the blower fan won't turn on. The dash gages are messed up as well. The oil pressure gauge doesn't work, the gas gage doesn't work, and the voltmeter doesn't work. The Temp gauge does work, as well as the speedomoter, and the tac. The tac does stick a little, but i don't think that this problem is connected to my other issues. There are no blown fuses. I have checked and double checked this. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this...... donny tyler
  9. by the way, the results have been posted for the september Rally Cross....check it out here http://www.oregonrally.com/
  10. i think for a short block from ccr, after you send in your core, you can get one for like $1000.... here is their website....check around on it.... http://www.ccrengines.com/
  11. if DA BOMB system is what i am thinking it is, my brother had one in an old beater car that ended up in a demolition derby. All he did was run an output line from his window washing system into his exhaust pipe. Then instead of window washing fluid, he put in a light oil. When he would hit the washing fluid button, it would pump the oil into his hot exhaust pipe, and SMOOOOKKKKEEEE SCREEEEENNNN:headbang: One time he set it off in the parking lot next to the football field at school during our homecoming game....they had to stop the game because of all the smoke.....good times I plan on doing this mod in the near future....just for the fun of it....
  12. yes yes and yes EA81 Brat cam, 1600 cc pistons, milled heads, webber carb...i know i am forgetting something....but yea, that is about the just of it. I have yet to ride in or drive an ea81 with more punch than this one carries. I can't wait until the ea81T is in the driveway, it should be a good comparison....
  13. It is one of those CCR engines. I bought it from Mudrat79(john). It came out of the Beast, his hatchback. It is a sick engine, lots of power. I know it isn't good for it to burn out in 4 low, but i just had to test it out.....
  14. Finally got my engine running again...BIG THANKS to John in Eugene....The Subaru King! This would not have happened without his help....well definatly not as soon or with such good results. Thank you very much John.... I got the engine stuffed into the little hatch....it picks up and MOVES! I still have some minor things to work through, but that stuff will be pretty easy. The next big thing on my plate is going to be the lift and tires. And i think that is going to happen real soon. Hopefully before the snow falls.... Anyway, im going to go play with the hatch some more.... *edit* I forgot to mention that i can break traction at all sides with the car in 4 low....on dry pavment....I love this engine
  15. How is this for an idea....John knows the area well, so lets pick a place that is inbetween Eugene and Bend somewhere, and go up wheeling and have a BBQ up in the woods....just a thought. I think it could be fun if you guys are up to it....I am wanting to come either way. Hope i can make it....
  16. how slight are the tunnel mods that you are talking about? Better yet, how did you get the 5 speed to fit into the 83?
  17. Well i obviously wasn't able to make it....I didn't get back home from Eugene until 2:30 saturday night.....which meant 2 hours of sleep before i would have had to leave for the rally. I hope you guys had fun, sorry i missed you all. I will be there next month with my hatch! How did everyone do?
  18. with the 5 speed do you think that my max mph will suffer? I mean will the high speed for the 4 speed be more than with the 5 speed, and if so by how much?
  19. i know that both the 5 speed and 4 speed will fit in, i was wondering more on the lines of how did the car perform with either swap.....If there were anything that made it not work out after the swap.....
  20. I am wondering what manual tannys people have put behind their EA81 Turbos. Has anyone put a 5speed dual range in. If so, how does/did it work. How about a 4 speed dual range tranny? thanks
  21. This place is burning all over the place.....we have the largest fire in the U.S. only 20 miles from my house.....lots of smoke. I am from Wyoming, and this fire reminds me of the Yellowstone fire. It has rained for a couple of days here, and it kind of put that fire in check. So you are going to put your house up for lease huh? I want to move to montana, maybe we can work out a deal...hehe anyway, i have to run... later
  22. John Bloom's (mudrat79) number is 1-541-729-8490..........he is the man to talk to.....hope this helps
  23. OH man, i hope i can get my hatch going for this....the little hatch is going to scream! If not, i am going to have to drive my stock as sin 87 wagon....either way, im looking forward to the event!
  24. im not talking about high speed, i am talking about initially getting the tracks moving, and keeping them moving going through thick stuff like mud and some types of snow.....I still think there is a great chance that it could work....Or at least i hope there is a chance, cause i want some!!!
  25. Didn't you see the quads running the track? I think the one thing that might keep this from working, is our high gear ratios....but man that would be fun too play with. I wonder how much they cost....i know they aren't cheap.....im calling them to find out.
