  1. GD, what if I drill and tap for the mount bolts and slot the trailing arms for the mount brackets off the bar - is this weakening the trailing arm and creating a stress point? will welding on the existing trailing arms weaken the material?
  2. this doesn't help me much, not sure what I'm looking for since I've never seen the mount (or an RX for that matter), second thought, I could get the trailing arms from the RX... but I wonder if their dimensions are the same as mine... could open up more problems
  3. tracking, yes, the front has 4 - just terminates differently, mis 'spoke' - it would help if I read your reply more closely, my fault I had to get under there and flip the bar around a few times, yes, the 4 line up with the trailing arms - yes I have nothing to tie the bar's brackets to savvy the principle behind the bar's opposing the motion hmmm, this has the potential for diminishing return for effort, not crazy about the way it hangs under the dif and so near the exhaust anyone got a pic of an RX trailing arm handy while I look on the net for some ideas? GD?
  4. wow, it's just a torsion bar? what's up with the 4 brackets that are keyed like the front bar, you know, they go into a slot and close back over the bar and bushing - it has to attach to the car somewhere - just like the front hmmm... I'll get a crappy cell pic going
  5. ooooo are they the 1985 rally wheels? I'm jealous, those would be nice...
  6. goodly so far, that is similar to another vehicle I have... it has four attach brackets on the bar 2 end 2 mid going to crawl under it again and look for bolt holes, (I may not have any) where does the middle section of the bar tie into the car? kind of looks like it should be above and forward of the dif
  7. can anyone snap a quick pic of the rear RX sway bar for me, I'm not sure where it's supposed to attach
  8. I'm still chuckling a bit over this. You bought 5 of them, FIVE, but none of them were worth a crap. And the Impreza, did you buy that new? You've had a new car that has been problem free for five years? Don't get in a huff, but if they were so worthless... why did you keep buying more of them?
  9. where on white pass are ya'?

  10. I guess I thought the rear wheel tubs were in different places so the seats were shaped very differently, issue I had anyway - but that was wagon to coupe.
  11. ^^^ I understand, like a lot of things, I'm trying to make due (do?) with what I have. I just think the ea82 gets too much crap. Yes, it has issues. I have yet to have any vehicle that did not have 'issues'.
  12. I haven't had that many issues with the N/A ea82. My first one went 220K and had lots of life left in it, my second is doing fine. I think I may have had a third back in the 90's in a DL sedan, I didn't work on it much - I just commuted in it until I sold it. I met a guy in the area with 500K on his ea82 and he pulled it out at 300K to re-gasket it... it has all the noises it can possibly make but it is still running - he hasn't overhauled the engine - it's still the original rings etc. the turbo... thanks to this bbs I'll probably avoid them unless I felt suddenly wealthy and decided to do a thorough overhaul and modification of one
  13. order #91 payment sent this PM (after Post Office hours) should be there by Saturday I'd think, Greg

  14. I could attempt it, early enough in the morning they may be less likely to shoot at me if I park my similar looking car in plain sight - the note was gone off the windshield this morning
  15. it doesn't have a center dif , 3.7 lsd, ground effects, or rear spoiler, by that logic my Loyale RS is an 'unbadged RX' it's a turbo GL, maybe unusual, but nothing exotic
  16. that almost sounds like a fresh thread I was going to add that my weld looked ok, but it was because the bead stayed with the piece of metal and was cracked off of the pipe - I didn't see it was broken until I pushed the pipe away from me and saw the weld was in two pieces - the majority of it riding along on the hanger tab
  17. think that review sums up with it just depends on how long you use the filter, Fram for 3-5k is fine, anything beyond that, or for racing applications you may need something of a different quality
  18. what's the cost of losing a wheel and coming to a three legged stop? (giving you a bad time, don't take it seriously) just leave the center caps off for now
  19. this might help, dunno' I had a squeak/rattle that drove me insane at an idle or when I lugged the engine taking off in 1st... I just found it by accident recently I'll go crawl underneath and take a crappy cell pic the mid pipe bolts to the pipe hanger, but my weld on the pipe broke I'm trying to highlight the piece that's supposed to be against the pipe, I just loosened the bolt and swung it out of the way until I could weld it back to the pipe later and like magic, all my rattles and squeaks went away
  20. can I blow it up first? never actually hand-grenaded an engine... I wanna see big chunks of oily metal flying willy nilly seriously, that would make a good car to 'RX', even though it has that lip on the hatch then I could have my RS for the dirt/snow and trails...
  21. cut a tighter fitting center panel, taped the crap out of everything, adjusted the lift/hatch 1/16" tighter (now holds a piece of paper snugly in the seal) and made a spoiler for the spoiler - maybe that will help too (it's primed from underneath, but the edge that is visible is a red that closely matches) what the he//, maybe kicking a little air down will keep some of it (dust) from creeping back in it was so bad when I took the panels off I had to rinse out the car with a garden hose before I could even think of dealing with it
