  1. the letters are a really nice touch, sadly, the sauce was probably still edible
  2. yes, but mine came with empty beer cans and bullets under the seats AND a heavy metal cd still in the player - top that
  3. If it isn't too late, I just discovered Rockauto has studs... cheap. They were in the drill down menu for my car, sure they'd be there for yours too.
  4. the only yard in my area wanted $450 for a d/r 5, no warranty no nothin' I bought an entire car with a d/r for $400 and stripped it bare of every conceivable piece I could use, right down to the plastic screws in the door threshold
  5. Hayden Fan Control Kit Part Number: 3652 $25.99 (preset temp), 3647 (adjustable temp) $35.99 from CSK's website that would give you the #1 then #2 fan when the temp load was high, but keep it to single fan when it was more easily cooled and the second wasn't needed - reducing electrical load edit > * you wouldn't need a delay timer with the second thermostat set a bit higher than stock, I would wire the second fan's power source to a relay off of the battery or a bus bar < I have looked into this myself, (it's on 'the list')
  6. doesn't Schmuck's have Imperial brand thermostatic fan controllers? you could set one for 185 one for 190, or something like that, to let one work as an aux fan for higher temps
  7. check out fly's other post http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=101178
  8. that's the irony, I had never even heard of the RX until I joined this board, I thought the Loyale RS was... 'normal' (?) not necessarily something special, but not something that was uncommon or an oddity -btw- I still haven't seen an RX except on the bbs
  9. That's ok, I'll probably be here when you get done, be that 4-6 or 20. I was exiled to the People's Republic of CA by the Army - so I feel ya'.

  10. I'm up on top of the grade outside of Pullman, good to see a member close by

  11. yes on the bolts, mine was really obnoxious, but 'safe'. Fly Boy has great points, if anything under there is 'shiny', it's been rubbing. Either way, he's right on with securing whatever it is with whatever you've got mine had several inches of side to side play, even when it was in gear, it was just the linkage play (when I went underneath to look and saw the bushing was physically missing from the linkage I laughed my butt off) sounds like you'll be fine as long as you check it out and keep an eye on it, haven't heard of one exploding from this yet
  12. yes, they were s/r 5's, no center dif - didn't mean to imply they were discontinued because they ran out of RX parts, I had noticed they have the same front air dam and spoiler as the RX (but no side skirts) - as compared to the DL and GL that came out at the same time which have their own spoilers and trim just had no idea they were so obscure they are listed as TBI and MPFI/w turbo, so not all of them were turbos - I am the third owner, I got it from my dad... it clearly was a non turbo car to begin with which makes me think a non turbo RS is doubly obscure
  13. we seem to be the only ones with the 1990 RS

  14. nice looking GL

  15. I'll be damned. The Loyale as a 3 door looking like the RX is present for a few years, I never realized the 'RS' was only in 1990. I swear this only confirms they were using up RX parts, the front air dam, spoiler and a few other bits... all the parts listings I hit, rock auto, 1st, schmucks, always have a listing for the 90-94 Loyale as a 'coupe' I never looked at any year but mine and noticed that there is no 'RS' in any other column once again I am shown that there is a lot to learn on this board does anyone know how many 1990 RS were made? how many were non turbo, and how many were turbo? no wonder it's gets so obscure to source new parts for the RS (even though we know they are the same as many other models)
  16. my car did something similar, the bushings on the shifter had worn out to the point that half of it fell out - I had a ton of shift lever free play and the shifter wobbled and rattled going down the road the reliability and durability of these cars is a charm in it's own
  17. I can see where that would work, it hasn't caused problems? do those rubbers wear down over time without the bolt, I noticed mine had a large gap- so it really wasn't doing anything, unless the transmission flexes on it's mounts a lot
  18. this CA crap is just lame, does it vent the gases to the right place? yes will it hold up over time, no, but it will take quite a while it's like, some knee jerk fail by some idiot that doesn't know what they're looking at - no common sense in a bureaucracy what actually came out of the tail pipe? was everything other than that functioning? my first impression of CA was formed on an Army bus, I was looking at the pretty beaches - but my view was constantly blocked by signs that said 'no parking' 'no fires on beach' 'no pets without leash' 'park closed after dusk' 'gate closed at dusk' 'no alcohol' 'no overnight camping' etc etc on and on they went, every 100 yards there was some damn sign later, when I'd get off post for a weekend I'd try to go camping - it was the same thing in the hills and mountains - for just a second you'd think you were someplace untread - but then you'd find some damn sign telling you what to do, or not do, or no trespassing, or no camping etc etc move to a free country, let CA go, it's already going to collapse under it's own weight if the fault doesn't get it first sorry for the rant, but this CA emissions stuff keeps popping up, and people are being failed for stupid crap that doesn't seem to actually affect the quality or composition of the exhaust - maybe if you had painted the heater hose with krylon plastic paint - flat black - the labeling would have been gone and it wouldn't have attracted their attention, but that's a painful lesson and hindsight sorry you got burned
  19. I don't understand the request for pics, 1990-1994 Loyale RS - this is the older car forum, pretty sure it was understood what I meant http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=101180
  20. I've had really good luck with Castrol 10/40 high mileage, it seems to do better on staving off the noise and slowed/stopped some weepy gaskets on the old engine $0.02
  21. probably not pass, this is like the latest in a series of threads of CA folks dealing with emissions limitations it just sounds like a major drag, and it's not like I'm being followed by a hole in the ozone because I have a 48 state car sorry you got to fight that crap
