  1. Sounds great. Ashland is just about 1.5 hours west of K Falls. There are plenty of good off-road trails in the area.
  2. Yep, that is 3" exhaust pipe. The entire setup costs about $230. K&N Apollo = $130 Safari Snorkel Head = $70 Custom 3" snorkel piping = $25 for materials 1 can semi-flat black spray paint = $5 For the labor you'd likely have to tack on another $100 of someone's time if they're not your buddy willing to do it for free.
  3. I just thought I would share how I hooked up my snorkel on my lifted 87 GL-10 with EJ22 swap. First I had my friend fab up a 3" diameter snorkel at his exhaust shop that I have then painted and mounted to the passenger side pillar with two nuts that were welded to the pillar and a couple brackets that bolt to those nuts. I topped the snorkel off with a 3" Safari Snorkel head. Under the hood I modified the stock EJ22 intake. I cut off the flexible part of the intake behind the air flow sensor and then moved the air flow sensor back to make room for the new K&N Apollo enclosed in-line air intake. I had to move the IAC valve hose connector back by where the crank case connectors are. I used JB Weld to seal it up nicely to prevent air leaks. I used an 80mm to 70mm adapter to mate the air flow sensor to the air filter housing. On the front side of the K&N air filter housing I used a 3" flex hose to mate up to the snorkel. It works great and I am happy with the results. I know it could have been done cleaner under the hood, but this works for me. Under the hood: A few shots of the snorkel:
  4. I had a friend down at his exhaust shop fab up a new two piece skid plate for my 4" lifted GL-10 with EJ22. Mounting it to the front bumper seemed to be the best option. It goes from the bumper back to the front cross member, then there is a second skid plat going back to the rear of the transmission:
  5. I was at Tinseltown watching Bruno. It has a 4" BYB lift. Those tires are 215/75R15 which is 28". You're more than welcome to come see my rig sometime. I live in Ashland but work in Medford.
  6. Here is one for $77.50 plus shipping. http://www.torasport.com/store/product.php?productid=558 For the life of me I don't recall the name of the site I bought mine from.
  7. If I recall correctly it was around $75 (new) including shipping. I know that isn't cheap, but I have seen them from time to time selling for about $50 used on eBay. I went with the 3" head.
  8. Ditto, but I cut out a bit of the interior trim instead. I also one time had to drive forward a few feet then put it in reverse for a few feet, then it finally went back into FWD.
  9. Bill, are you still interested in the cop pushbars? I am looking for some EJ22 motor mounts and some EA82 transmission mounts in good condition. I'd be willing to trade if you have either of those.
  10. I just bought the top "head," part of the safari snorkel on-line and then had my buddy down at his muffler shop fab up a 3" snorkel to go where the old PVC one used to be coming out of my fender. I used some door trim to put around the hole in the fender and then used a K&N Apollo enclosed "in-line," air filter mounted up high underneath the hood. It's great since you can't see the snorkel from inside the car. It pulls colder cleaner air, but my intention is not to do river crossings. I will need to do more water proofing if I wanted to do anything more than couple feet deep of water such as a creek. Pics here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=100813
  11. If Markus56 doesn't end up wanting it, then it's all yours.
  12. The inside diameter of the old snorkel is 2" with an outside diameter around 2.25" or 60cm. Sorry, I still haven't had a chance to check on shipping. I had a busy week last week and and an even busier holiday weekend. Here is a pic of it:
  13. That's my English Bulldog named Cloie. She loves getting to drive around with me.
  14. Okay, it's all yours. Let me know when you get back into town.
  15. The front bumper is from Allied Armament and the rear bumper was made by [HTi]Johnson from Head Trauma Inc out of Eugene. I like both bumpers quite a bit. Check out http://www.headtraumainc.com/
  16. Bratman18 called it first, but I'll let you know if he ends up not wanting it. The old snorkel that I have up for free is just he PVC portion of the old snorkel. The air filter and housing was toast, so it went in the trash. You would still need to cut a hole in your finder, get the mounting hardware (you could use hose clamps screwed into the sheet metal or weld tabs for mounting), and then get an air filter and hoses to connect up to your MAF. I am going to use a K&N Appollo in-line air filter, but you could buy a cheaper air filter and housing to mount at the top of the snorkel. With a good coat of paint the PVC would look better than it does now.
  17. Yes, I absolutely LOVE the EJ22. More power, better fuel economy by a few MPG, and it gets up to 80mph on the freeway easily. The wiring is by far the most work for the EJ swap, but you could always get one of the painless wiring harnesses that will make your life much easier when doing the swap. I'm lucky to have bought this car from suberdave with the EJ22 already in it! My friends and I will likely be doing some off-roading at this trail called McGrew in O'Brien (Southern Oregon near Grants Pass) in the next few weeks so I'll get some pics and video to post.
  18. Yeah, I still have the push bars mounted on the stock front bumper sitting in my garage. I am looking for some new or good used EJ22 motor mounts, some good used transimission mounts for my RX FTAWD transmission, and some good condition EA82 front brake rotors. I also have the stock rear bumper. My old PVC snorkel is free to anyone that wants it. It's too restrictive for the EJ22, but works with the EA82 and EA82T motors.
  19. A few months back I bought suberdave's lifted GL-10 wagon while visiting a friend up in Seattle. It has an EJ22, RX FTAWD Dual Range 5-speed, center locking diff, limited slip rear diff, and converted to toyota/chevy 6 lug. I drove it back down to Southern Oregon and right away started grinding and sanding to get all of the rust off of the car. It didn't look like much rust until I actually started grinding and sanding when I realized this was going to be a lot of body work! Anyway, after about a month of prep work on the weekends I finally got around to painting the car. Before: And now as Ty Pennington would yell through a megaphone in Extreme Makeover Home Edition: "Move that bus!" After: I had to bondo in a few locations to get rid of dents and fill in places where I ground down the rust to bare metal. The grinding and sanding took weeks of work. After sanding the car I did two coats of primer. I then did the camo job on the top half with ultra flat rattle can spray paint. I did the base coat of tan, then used a fern leaf to spray on the brown then green over top to make the camo effect. After I completed the camo I taped off the top half of the car and did spray on bed liner for the bottom half of the car. I used about 9 cans of Morton Truck Bed Guard spray on bed liner which equaled about 5 coats of bed liner. After all of the body work and painting was done I had a friend down at his muffler shop fab up a new 3" snorkel that I topped off with a Safari snorkel head. He also fabed up a new custom skid plate for me that mounts to the front bumper and goes back to the front cross member. He then added a second skid plate going back further (I'll get some pics to post). I also had him make me a new custom exhaust system that tucks up nicely under the car allowing more ground clearance. I went with a Manaflow muffler that sounds great and gives the exhaust a nice boxer rumble without being ricey sounding. I ditched the chrome Nissan wheels I had for some new black steel wheels that are 15"x7". They fit great and the tires don't rub regardless of the wheels being an inch wider than the old ones. I also mounted up new bumpers front and rear, added a roof rack, wired up some off-road lights, and replaced the leaking rear 3.7 LSD with a newer one I had laying around. Anyway, I just wanted to share what I've been up to for the last few months.
  20. Great job! I hope taking the GL-10 off your hands helped pay for this!
  21. OMG, your Brat is awesome! I would love to have something like that, but it looks like an incredible amount of time and $!
  22. He's referring to: http://www.pirate4x4.com And, BTW, I too will be doing this in the next few weeks on my lifted 87 GL-10. The prep is the most work for sure! I helped my friend do this to the lower part of his Toyota truck a few weekends ago. We used rattle can spray on bed liner and it turned our great! Once again, the prep work is the most important.
  23. Another way to fix this would have been a 4" lift.
