Then lift the rear enough so it doesn't rub. Then when you lift the rear only, the car will be raked forwards, so then you will have to lift the front. then you will have a 4" lift, and a better looking and performing Subaru.

not yet, so there is hope!
-
Wheels on! now for the linkages oh yeah, i fixed the crooked brush guard too
-
Honestly. Just make a 4" lift kit and you wont have any rubbing. Its not hard.

No front tires on it yet... I really hope it is minimal this time

More progress today! I have the front end all done except for a tie rod and the motor. Then i have to wait for paint to dry and i can install the driveline and rear diff after i do the shifter linkages

according to google, its a 14 hour drive 1 way, so in 25 year old subaru time, thats about 16-18 hours. there's two of us going, so we will be trading off driving time. I'm gonna take off the 235/75's and put on the 215/75's so i dont have to turn 30's going up a mountain pass.

So i am planning on talking my 4" lifted '85 Wagon on a road trip from Mount Vernon, WA to Montana State University Northern in Havre Montana and back. I am trying to come up with a list of stuff to bring, parts wise, and some preventative maintenence. i also want to see who lives on the way if something happens. I am going to pack a lot of extra oil and coolant, 2 spare tires, gas can, alt. belt and tools ...did i miss anything?
-
it was already said, but i'll bet the waterpump is bad. no hot air from the heater core means either the heater core is plugged, or the coolant is not cycling. I would put money that the coolant never got replaced and it dissolved the impeller in the pump. That *might* also be the cause of the bubbles, but the head gasket is probably blown. Do a chemical test on the coolant to find out for sure(as already stated). Good Luck!

workin on it a bit at a time. as of this moment i am making a setup to drop my rear diff 2". going to school full time really gets in the way, but what are you gonna do...
