  1. Also i have all the parts to make this project happen.
  2. Hey guys whats up. What the heck happened to the Board? :-\ So what do you guys think about putting a holley 2 barrel (that i believe is 500 or 350 cfm, not sure yet) on a dual carb EA-81 block? Any ideas or experience with that sort of thing? I was going to port a single carb manifold and i already have an adapter plate to mount it with, and drop the whole shebang into my 85 wagon. ~yohn
  3. So, when you get water in your auto tranny it has the tendency to turn the fibrous clutch pack discs into a papery goo. I cant recall off the top of my head, but i have a feeling that is what controls 3rd and 4th gear, and i do know that a clutch pack controls power to the rear output shaft and hence, binding. I have a feeling that the soggy clutch discs are whats causing your problems. unfortunately there is no real way to find out unless you feel like pulling your tranny apart. I wish i had my power flow charts with me so i could know for sure, but i went home over the holidays . Anyway, that is my theory and for your sake i hope i am wrong. ~Yohn
  4. this would seem like a problem, but it isn't with steel rims. using open headed lug nuts, tighten the original bolt holes to proper ft/lbs (85?) to center the rims. then flip the other two over so the flat side is facing the rim on the drilled holes and torque to spec. easy as pie and i have done this on all of my gen 2s and 3s
  5. Or be a man and use a hand held drill and a 1/2" and 1/4" drill bit with and old brake drum/rotor with 2 lug studs knocked out.
  6. Why would they compare a base model bare bones 4 banger station wagon against a full size v-8 suv with all the options? sounds like the result of one too many drinks. Or something i would do.
  7. 185/85r13's will fit your loyal just fine... if you can find them. Those are my preferred tire size for the stock rims.
  8. hey guys. i picked up an 84 wagon and am trying to make it functional. the last things i am trying to fix are the reverse lights, turn signals, and high beams. i am not getting power to the reverse lights. could this be the reverse switch? how common are they to failure? On the turn signals, i replaced the flasher box, and the only other thing i can think of would be the switch itself, right? Then on the high beams, when i turn them on, the normal headlights lights turn off, and nothing else happens. however i can hear a relay clicking. Also, all the fuses+links are good. help!
  9. I've got the block heads intake and carbs but no linkages, air cleaner, or distributor. a guy gave it to me after i interned as a mechanic for a few months. not quite sure what i am going to do with it, but it might involve twin webers.
  10. I have a block heater, battery blanket and underhood trickle charger. i should be ok
  11. sachs part number for the clutch kit: k599-01 i work at parts house and come across it regularly
  12. Those are re-drilled 6x139.5 lug rims. easy enough to modify, i've got three sets of em i have made. These: 15" These: 14" And these: 15"
  13. did you hook up a return line from the weber? sometimes deadheading the fuel pump will make it force fuel past the floats in the bowl and out to the venturis, which would cause dieseling.
  14. the brake caliper will hold the hub and rotor until you have to re install the axle, so not yet
  15. This will be my first gen 2, but i'm looking forward to it. it will be nice to have that low range! there's places my legacy just wont go even with torque increase in the automatic with the 4WD switch. I still wish i could have brought my '85 wagon with me... :-\ The 85 wagon \/ poor thing, sitting in storage all alone...
  16. pull the spark plugs and crank it. i'd be willing to bet you will see a bunch of coolant shoot out of one of the cylinders
  17. Hey guys, haven't been on here for a while, i just moved from Northwest Washington (offroad) to Havre, Montana where it's cold as hell in the winter (gets down to -50). so we will see how my Legacy does. Anyway i have only been here a month and i have picked up a "new" wagon for the collection! its an 84 gl wagon that runs and drives for $100. It looks like crap and needs a windshield (100 bucks installed) but it runs like a champ. So once i remove the cobwebs, its gonna get a 2 inch lift and some 27's Also, are there any suby guys in my general area?
  18. V powers yo part # 6261 those will be just fine
  19. So to do the light test you just connect the green connectors under the dash?
  20. At this point it does not look like anyone from NWWOR is going to make it. Including me, unless i can trade three shifts at work :/
  21. If you get a walker, get a "direct fit" type. they are a little bit more expensive, but they are a bolt in type with flanges. I sell them where i work, and they are decent. But they are stamp steel, so if you live in the rust belt... :-\
  22. Hey guys, I've got a 94 Impreza that likes to surge when you are driving down the road. I cant for the life of me figure out why this is happening. has this happened to anyone else? and what would cause it? Thanks! ~yohn
  23. Hey I am also in a tech college and have tried to use all sorts scan tools to read OBD I subarus. Modis, Solus, Genisys, Snap-On Bricks, on GLs, DLs, Loyales and Legacies. I tried em all It aint gonna happen. sorry bud. The best way is to have the CEL flash at you, Which it was doing when you start the car. Record those flashes, as that is the code
