subaru jack

just bought a 99 forester that some one took apart and couldnt put back together.when I got it the timming was way off and it look like someone had changed one of the timming gears. I timed it replaced the plugs check the contacts on the coil pack got it to run but seems to olny run on two .any thing I missed ? where is the ignition computer located on these forester any help would be appreciated thanks

i looking for a local mech to rebuild my 2.2 or my 2.5 ,I have both and looking to put the best choice in it .I live in western new york ,but given the current enconomy hopeing to find someone that is refered thanks for any info Jack

rechecked the vacume lines found 1 with no home tied it in the systems replaced the knock sensor clear the codes and so far so good put the 96 brain back in thanks for your help Jack

I dont know about the rest of you ,butI miss the brat the baja is a family ride i had two brat and miss them .I heard that someone is makeing them out of inprezza wagon can anyone confirm this Jack

no is does not have one but I still have the 2.5l for parts the 2.2 also does not have a place on the intake or the head for one a would a brain out of a 96 2.2l make any difference thanks Jack

need some help with my subaru i got a 96 legacy outback that had a 2.5l in it and i took a 2.2 l out of a 98 legacy wagon and put it in the 96 outback now the problem ii am having that it keeps spittting out evap codes at the time of the engine swap i never thought to check for a egr valve on the 98 what is the best way to get this car to stop with the codes .I already have swap out the brain out of the 98 but that brain was spitting out more codes than the 96 my freind saids that the 98 must have more sending sensor than the 96 what can i do to get this motor to work in this car thanks Jack:-\

got a 98 legacy with over 287 thosand ran so good that i transplanted it into a 96 outback

looking for some help with my engine swap .I have a 96 out back that had a 2.5 l I put a 98 2.2 l in the 96 and i keep on tripping the check engine light . its keep on spitting out evap silenoid and the knock sensor i notice that my problem might be that i dont have a egr valve on the 98 2.2 but do on the 96 2.5 is there any way that keep this motor in this car and stop tripping out check engines code I change the brain out of the 98 and put in the 96 and got a whole new set of codes mainly fuel realated codes thanks jack
