  1. swapping a 3at to a 5mt is fairly simple. I swapped to a 5mt dual range You need, if you plan on using a ea82 manual trans: ea82 five speed transmission, I picked the d/r so I didn't have to deal with the push button manual switches and solenoids. ea82 mt drive line(or at least just the front half for a manual tranny) ea82 transmission mount ea82 clutch pedal cluster clutch cable shifter linkage and assembly flywheel clutch kit and if you want it to look right, the center portion of the instrument cluster for a manual wiring to make the reverse lights and 4wd indications work wiring for the starter inhibitor switch(located in the auto shifter assembly) hth Ben
  2. here is a low cost option, not stand alone but small. http://www.harborfreight.com/drill-bit-sharpener-98061.html?utm_medium=cse&utm_source=googlebase&hft_adv=40010&mr:trackingCode=917A0F9E-782A-E011-B31E-001B2163195C&mr:referralID=NA here is a similar one to the one we had http://www.drilldoctor.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=71&flypage=flypage.pbv.tabs.tpl&product_id=2647&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=142 I am sure the harbor freight one would work at least for a little while. Ben
  3. Working as a machinist building commercial fishing deck gear I got pretty good at sharpening drill bits by hand, The "Drill Doctor" that we had worked pretty good also. Ben
  4. Cool! happy birthday Spencer! I recently found some of those GL-10 pieces at PnP, no time to install though:( Have fun! cheers:drunk:
  5. here are a couple links to the two axles that would be for your car. I am guessing that your car has a 4EAT trans. I am pretty sure that it is 25 spline. 23 Spline N/A motor http://www.empius.com/images/driveaxles/80-5504.html 25 Spline Turbo motor http://www.empius.com/images/driveaxles/80-5505.html hope that helps Ben
  6. as far as axles your car is a 25 spline and you would need to go with a 93-94 impreza fwd 5mt axles they will have the correct outer splines for the hubs and 23 spline DOJ to mate to the EA d/r assuming you go with the non turbo model. or if you have some EA axles laying around you can swap the doj over to your axles. Ben
  7. How will an "OEM" remote start not start from inside a building? I am failing to see how this option is obtained. I agree, DO NOT buy a cheap no name brand. The brand that I suggested can be setup in a variety of ways including using a smart phone to monitor, start, lock and unlock and depending on the installer can be done very safely. Ben
  8. there are definitely good and bad systems. I have had the best luck with Directed Electronics alarms (Clifford, Viper, Python, etc) and the most experience installing in my own vehicles and customer vehicles. Stay away from Compustar alarms, I installed one in a friends truck and since the alarm can be put in to programming mode with the remote it makes it very easy to change settings while the remote is in your pocket. just my .02 If a remote start is installed correctly there is a switch that can be turned off to disable the remote start feature if you park in an enclosed area. But you have to remember to disable it. as for a OE plug and play for a 1999, No not that I know of, this has come recently with the can-bus driven systems in newer cars. Ben
  9. Awesome!! can't wait to see how it turns out.
  10. Agreed, Accords are way more frequent because not everyone wants them to make "drift cars" out of them :-\. caliper rebuild kits can be had at a good local parts store or brake supply store for usually around $5 each side for a single piston caliper. I think I paid $5.40+ tax for the front kit I put on mu loyale. Ben
  11. weak, this is the same reason I started this thread...
  12. It would probably be worth more if you took the time to part it out. The problems you describe are all pretty easy to fix. It would be worth a lot more to fix then sell. I wish I had room to have another one! Just have to ask yourself how much are you willing to spend? My .02 Ben
  13. do some looking around on www.quattroworld.com lots of info there too

  16. send me a few pics that would be cool... your link is broken btw I was in the red Loyale wagon with the white outback wheels and the bad exhaust leak...
  17. that would be great! I have been looking for a Forester with bad head gaskets to fix and make a winter car for my wife.
  18. Are you a member here? Saw this in everett yesterday, wish I could have snapped a picture looks like you guys were having fun! Looks bada$$ btw!
  19. I definitely second the Hankook iPike:headbang:, my road is very steep and hardly ever gets plowed. My tires are studded and worked great!
  20. what is in your Loyale? a/t or manual? if you are willing to take and strip down your legacy for the swap, go for it. Having a running parts car is what I want to do it when I finally end up doing an EJ in my wagon. what questions are you trying to have answered exactly?
  21. Thanks, the low will come when I switch to my summer wheels... your lifted wagon was sweet!
