  1. looks like I am off to the wanted section.
  2. That's what I thought. any ea82 rear disk backing plate will work correct? (assuming they are the correct side) xt6, xt 4cyl, rx and gl turbo right? thanks for the quick help.
  3. I installed my rear disk brakes for my five lug swap today. The passenger side backing plate looks correct with the caliper on the upper rear but the drivers side the caliper is on the bottom. Now is that just the way it is? or did I end up with two right side backing plate? it bolted up but I will have to make a new brake line to fit it in this position. I can take pictures in the morning if it would help. everything else fit perfectly... thanks if anyone has pictures of what its supposed to look like that would be great!
  4. No way!! Washington state won't let me have a plate like that...
  5. So I decided on white, can't wait to get them on the car. Brand new set of Hankook i-Pike studded 195/60-15 as soon as the 5 lug swap is done I will post pics with them installed.
  6. going through the old threads, I found a lot of info on that subject, there is no "cleaned up" build thread because there are so many combinations, but the one listed below answers a bunch of my questions this thread I found to be especially helpful: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=85045 happy reading. Ben
  7. I have 2 cans of each, White, Bronze, and Gunmetal. I think I am going with white for these with the snow tires (I might try the red lip on one wheel just to see how it looks, and bronze for my summer wheels (16" WRX wheels) the day glo green or day glo orange would help be more visible in the snow, but to drive around for 4 months and only 2 or 3 days worth of snow seems silly. the fluorescent wheel colors remind me of back when I had RC cars. thanks for participating Ben
  8. I was thinking about white with body color lip on the wheel. I have a set of wrx wheels and I am thinking of painting them bronze.
  9. so I have some outback wheels for my snow tires that I recently had sand blasted. like these: (not my picture) charcoal grey (gloss) White (gloss) Black (matte) Bronze (matte) car is a 1991 Loyale wagon, dark red (color code 947) with a five lug swap. what do you guys think? thanks Ben
  10. use it for a starter kill, so you have to press it in to start with the key and when you release it cuts the starter circuit out. a little added security. wire it up through a relay of course.
  11. Can EJ or EA82 rear caliper bolts be used in place of XT6 rear caliper bolts? I am missing two rear caliper bolts for my five lug swap, I already posted a wanted thread, just wanting to see if I have any other options if I cant dig some up. thanks Ben
  12. I have yellow tinted headlights on my loyale, I used Lamin-x coating. I am not at home but I can send you a pic of it if you are interested. however the EUDM lights would be way easier to cover because of the nibs not being there on the light face. sorry for the hijack
  13. I might be interested in a set of corner lights, does anyone know if they will work with a DL Quad headlight setup?
  14. like Turbone said they use a 9004 which is 45/55w and they are not bright enough. unfortunately I just bought a DL four headlight setup and H4 hi/lo and H1 high beam housings. If I hadn't I would be the first name on your list to get a set.
  15. the EUDM headlights accept an H4 headlight bulb. options for brighter bulbs and much better beam pattern.
  16. So it sounds like you have another problem. when I put the head unit in my Loyale, I only used the harness I bought and did not touch the wires in the kick panels. I am 99% sure I did not hook up the rear speakers to the install harness. so if you did hook up the rears at the harness disconnect them and see if it works. Also some head units have a built in protection circuit that will protect the built in amplifier from being damaged by a blown speaker or shorted wire. first thing I would do is use a volt-ohm meter to see if any of the speaker wires are shorted to ground, then measure for a resistance for the speakers(it should be between 2-10 ohms, I am not sure what the stock ones<generally between 8 and 10ohm> and most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm.) since all the wires can be accessed from the back of the radio I would start there then move to the kick panels if you find anything not right. another thing you can do if you have a known good speaker laying around is disconnect all the speaker leads and hook the known good one up to test the decks and see if it even works. Ben
  17. does your car have factory rear speakers? if so, they are a common ground system. which means right side front and rear share a ground wire and the same with the left. the wires are located in the drivers and passengers kick panel. you need to run speaker wires to the kick panels and cut the rear speaker wires and connect them to the speaker wire you ran, this should fix your problem. it is also possible that you have a speaker wire grounded out. Hope that helps Ben
  18. I have used HID's from DDM Tuning, they are comparable in price and I have not had a problem with them. DDM Tuning HID's they have a slim ballast kit for around $10 more. the 50w are really bright.
  19. 3M has a headlight restoration kit, I got mine at NAPA Auto Parts for around $20 and it works really well. it comes with a small buffing pad, assorted sandpaper grits and rubbing compound and a velcro drill pad for the sandpaper and buffing pad. It takes some time but it comes out very nice and with the drill adapter alot less elbow grease. Link Ben
  20. In a Jeep/Chrysler with the Infinity system that will work. its not that the amp is under powered the signal is more powerful from the aftermarket deck also the input on the Jeep amplifier is a higher voltage (speaker level power) and on the Toyota it is a low level (rca power) which can introduce all kinds of noise issues. so the easiest/best thing to do is wire around the factory amp in this case. there is a "rca level" harness that is available for the Toyota I think it is a 15 or 16 pin that has rca plugs on it instead of speaker wires, You could go that route but I do not recommend it. On another note, I have a 2003 Dodge Ram that has the infinity stereo and have had an aftermarket head unit running through the factory amp since day one and never had any problems with noise. Rewiring is generally on a case by case basis but some cars it is necessary. Ben
  21. the factory amp is behind the passenger speaker, the amp is a small rectangular aluminum box with three plugs, unplug it and discard it(you will only use two of the plugs the other is for the factory amp signal wires from the factory deck. if you get a regular toyota install harness this will work :Metra 70-1761 your factory sub if it still works will no longer work. if your factory speakers are blown, replace them before they ruin your new head unit. here is a link with some pics. http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/243895-factory-amp-alpine-stereo-install.html hope that helps. Ben and please DO NOT use wire nuts, they are for home wiring. strip, solder and heatshrink. or butt connectors.
  22. just a shot in the dark... is the fuel pump staying on after start? is fuel pressure staying constant?
  23. I am interested in seeing this project progress. My brother did a 5.0l/T-5 swap into a 66 Mustang coupe it is really fun to drive, a hell of a lot faster than the 289 that came with the car. If I remember correctly when he first did the swap he had some grounding issues, took the car to the ford dealer and they were able to find a missed ground wire that got buried in the wire harness. is that a speed density or a mass air flow motor? I can't tell from the pics. if I remember right a speed density car makes the swap easier. Ben
  24. I like your wagon, I just picked up an XT6 5 lug setup for my 91. Did you end up using the xt6 control arms or reaming the ea82 control arms? how much is it lowered? and what did you use to do it? I have a laundry list of things to do on my wagon, yours is close to what I want it to look like when its done. BUMP FOR COOL WAGON! Ben
  25. I really like those. However I want an imported one with the 3.0l turbo diesel, kind of hard to find, but they are plentiful in B.C. just 2 hours north of me... Bump for cool rig!
