  1. Totally agree! I need a set of those rs wheels!!!
  2. the OP says that they are using an h4 for the lowbeam and an h1 for the high beam. the H4 is the outboard headlight housing and the H1 is the inboard. H1 bulbs do not have a filament shield, if they are used for a low beam application the housing will have a shield installed. If I remember correctly the Autopal housing has a ground wire coming off of the H1 mount base on the housing, I don't think the housings are conductive. I have a set for my wagon as well but I am going with a 135W H1 for the high beam. it will be independently switched from the headlight Hi/Lo switch. Ben
  3. still have been really busy, but I drove it to work today and it survived the 85 mile round trip! a couple of things are still minor issues. -Fuel tank pressure sensor and fuel tank temp faults are present. I am going to build a "fooler" circuit that supplies the expected voltage to the ECU when the car is running, so no more check engine light. -finishing installing the under hood fuse box/relay pack from the donor car -mounting the ECU in it's final resting place -and for later: getting the A/C reinstalled and working again. I promise to update with pics soon.
  4. Been really busy.... i will try and get a video up this weekend.
  5. very clean car! seeing sedans like yours makes me want one more! *goes in to wake up wife and talk to her about getting another Subaru...* wish me luck!
  6. 5sp dual range was available from 85-89(?) For the part time 4wd. Not sure about the full time that was in the RX.
  7. so a final list on what I needed to do the swap. 5sp D/R trans trans cross member manual trans drive shaft shifter assembly interior bezel and center console clutch pedal cluster (its easiest to remove the steering column) clutch cable m/t speedo cable (it's longer than the auto) flywheel clutch kit wiring to transmission indication 4WD, LO, and reverse lights. PRND21 was replace with a piece from a m/t car and about a foot of the car side of the harness to make a "conversion harness" so essentially it is plug and play. HINT: you can use the indicator wires for "1" or "2" for your 4WD and LO range indicators eliminating the need to run wires. have been using the swap for about a year, it is the best mod I have made only second to the EJ swap. Ben
  8. Thanks Bennie! It is a great feeling! I went over the wiring in my head probably 1000 times before I even touched the harness. Just got lucky I guess. Ben
  9. I have a thread I started for the list. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=123516 my EA82 is spoken for. pending pickup. Ben
  10. Thank you, the headlight swap is on hold for a couple weeks but is bolt in amd pretty straight forward. Just need the time to build my harness for the headlights. I will put up some pics when i finally get to it.
  11. thanks! DO IT!!! You won't be disappointed. It was night and day, kind of like when I went from 3AT to the 5sp-d/r.
  12. thanks I am getting stuff boxed and sorted out for you. nice, I have not taken it that fast yet... from the short distance I have driven it, it seems to have alot more power.
  13. I picked one up at my local NAPA link Manufacturer : Lisle Corporation Manufacturer Part Number : 24610 or its on Amazon... http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-24610-Spill-Free-Funnel/dp/B001A4EAV0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1353697460&sr=8-1&keywords=Lisle+24610
  14. off to the exhaust shop this morning! almost as quiet as stock, great for this DD. actually got to drive it today, I am really happy with how it has turned out so far. More pics this weekend.
  15. when one project is over that just leaves more space for the next one! I am sure that your next project will turn out to be more fun than this one has been.
  16. 3m(i think) makes a reflective black and orange vinyl, that might look pretty cool. there are a couple of police agencies around here that use the black graphic on their traffic enforcement cars, it looks really cool.
  17. I am partial to that color too. It doesn't have to be the "end of the ski wagon" you could adjust the colors of the decals to go with the new base color. but then that would take from the red white and blue USA theme they were going for but red white and black would look pretty cool with that grey not trying to start a flame war:Flame: looking good btw! if this turns out half as nice as your EA82 or your FJ80 it will be awesome. Ben
  18. more progress this weekend, I was able to get the harness permanently installed, factory grommet from the legacy into passenger side of engine compartment, radiator, hoses, coolant, power steering lines attached and mid pipe installed after a coat of high temp paint. Still haven't driven it but I am taking it to the exhaust shop Tuesday, picked up the trailer today. maybe driving it to Thanksgiving dinner... raining too much to get the camera out the last couple days
  19. I had the same problem after my d/r swap, driving on dry pavement bound up the shifter... drove in circles in reverse to unbind it.
  20. Welcome! That will be the best $700 you ever spent. Have fun and be careful these cars turn into an addiction:D
  21. got out the welder today and made up a mid pipe to attach to the header that I got from sube101... warning my welding skills pale in comparison to the header... made a tab to use the factory mount off of the transmission welded in a bung for the rear o2 sensor view of the front o2 sensor port from the top
  22. IT'S ALIVE!!! after about two hours of beating my head against the wall I decided to do a compression check. 30psi all cylinders... pulled off the timing covers and I was a couple teeth off on both cams:o, pulled the belt off and re-timed it. rechecked the compression praying that I did not have any bent valves, 168-174 across the board. the good news is that I got the wiring correct on the first try! Proof!! (this is the first try after the re-time)
  23. this weekend had a little progress. after fighting with the air conditioning compressor this whole time I finally just gave up and took all the A/C components out of the engine compartment, I now have so much more room to work with. fit the UEL header to the engine it fits perfectly, I have not fit the factory skid plate yet but it looks promising. no pics yet, I'll work on that this week. maybe a video of first start... maybe. Getting excited to drive it again.
