I just re read the title, I am not sure about EA81 top hats, since they are two bolt... but you might get lucky. Please follow up with your findings, too many of threads like these get forgotten and the next person searching for info hits a dead end. thanks Ben

If I am taking it off to do the job and it is a wear item like a idler pulley, it will be replaced by a quality new one. I see no reason to cheap out and not spend the extra $$$ to have a little piece of mind. A shop that doesn't recommend that wear items be replaced when they are in there anyway sets off alarms in my mind. Buyer Beware! It's a free country and you can do whatever you want (within the law) but you won't want to hear the "I told you so's" after it fails and you are looking at a $3K job rather than a $50 pulley. TP

Did you try tapping on the starter with a hammer? Sometimes that will work if the contacts are on the way out.

what about a light bar with skid plate that is all under the front bumper something similar to this but for an EA82 car -
IIRC they will fit but the bolt circle is larger. You will have to drill new holes.

I think I saw your wagon in Duvall today. Is it lifted with pugs now? at the light on southbound 203 and Woodinville-Duvall Rd.

I was able to use my auto starter when i swapped to the 5mt d/r without any problems. Just the bolts are longer if you reuse the auto starter bolts but they work.
-
No, the engines are the same. the auto uses a flexplate, and uses shorter bolts. but the engines are interchangeable.

I recommend Sube101's headers too, I have one for my EJ swap in the garage. he does top notch work and fast turn around time:headbang: Ben

What Relay To Use For Aftermarket Horns?
tractor pole replied to jj421's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
just make sure that you have a fused wire coming from the battery, all your factory horn wire is doing now is triggering the relay so it is not necessary to put in a larger fuse, the relay harness is carrying the main load of the circuit now. typically it only takes 250mA (1/4 amp) to trigger one of these relays. The larger fuse in the factory spot can be dangerous, the fuse size is there to protect the wiring not necessarily the light, horn, etc... looks like you got it figured out anyhow, just some thoughts. What Relay To Use For Aftermarket Horns?
tractor pole replied to jj421's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
just use a standard bosch style relay these are readily available from local parts stores, I always use the bosch ones but there are other brands that do the same thing. Ben -
Hopefully not head gaskets again
