where did you get them? and how much?
-
Gwilson87, I have to get more tires so i can put the ones on the back. But it wasnt too hard to get the tires on there without rubbing. Dont get me wrong there was a couple of evenings beating the inner fender wall in. lol. But i thought that it makes the brat look like its got some attitude without lifting it. Cutting the fender i just cut right above the factory flare. it gave me plenty of room and didnt turn out half bad. There is a bolt for the fender right under the little crome piece of trim.(lower by the door) thats where i started the cut so i didnt make it too weak. I still have to do some touching up. I can turn all the way without it rubbing. If you like i can post some pics of it. Let me know, Kelly O PS the wheel isnt staying that color lol i bought them really cheap from a friend. If anyone is a poor boy that wants to mess with a brat and make cheap mods ill do my best to help you out because i know exactly how you feel.
-
what do yall think about the cut fenders? Think it will turn out ok or does it look like crap? I still need to do some touching up and a fender flare. Post comments so i know if i should do the other side as well.

Jayare12 the pic makes perfect sence to me. thanks for doing that. That doesnt seem like it would be too hard to build. With 6 inches did you have to extend the brake lines or steering?
-
well that sounds cheap. the fronts are not hard to do? Ill think about doing that prototype thing. I just wish i could find someone that would tell me how to do it and whats the easiest and where to start that way its really cheap for me. But on the other hand the 200 bucks doesnt sound bad. do you happen to have any EA81s for sale or and dual range 4wd tranny that would fit my brat? thanks for your time. kelly O

Thanks for the fast reply. By no means am i in any kind of hurry. And i live in Texas in the waco area. I probably wouldnt want to buy a lift. Buy it from you and shipping probably would be a pretty penny. I would probably just have to make my own and i was hoping to get some info on this form how to. Is there a extreme difference in difficulty between a 4inch lift and a 6 inch? just for giggles what would be a rough guess on what a lift cost me? thanks KO

Here's a pic of my brat that i have been working on. Ive got 15 inch wheels on it. The tires are 215/75/r15 on the front, i don't have them on the back yet. I also cut the fender on the driver side only so far. I plan on putting a fender flare on it if i can find one that fits. I have been wanting to lift this thing and have posted a few time about it. The Boss or The Beast I Drive could either one of yall help me out with this with just some tips on how to do it? Thanks guys, KO

thanks bud for the info. so is the body of the truck where the shock tower bolts up flat and you get the 15 degrees from the strut? so that means that your home made extension also has to be 15 degrees? im trying to understand exactly how that works. also how hard was it doing the blocks on the front? I'll understand if you dont have time to answer all of these questions. The Boss or The Beast I Drive comments will be appreciated if you read this. thanks again! KO

man thats awesome. you have no idea how much that helps me. theres a bunch of people that have asked but how did you keep the camber right? did you have to angle the strut extention? if you wouldnt mind helping me with lifting mine by giving me some tips, i will be very very greatful how many inches is your lift? are those factory cv shafts? thanks for your time bro kelly o

I have a Gen1 brat that I'm really wanting to lift. Can you tell me how you did that? Or some pics of how you did it? especially on the rear. ill see if i can get some pics of mine on here since i have messed with it.
-
Michael are you building the lifts to sell or just lifting some subs? From what i have read on this message board I'm pretty intimidated by having a gen1 subaru. If you are lifting some brats is there anyway you could post some pics? How high are your lifts? Thanks for your time, Kelly O.

Hey fellas, Its been a while since i have posted anything. I was wanting to lift my brat 3 inches or so. I have done some research on the message board and have seen that people talk about just adjusting something in the rear suspension to get the 3 inches on the back. This is possible right? If it is could someone please tell me what to actually adjust? Thanks guys for your time, Kelly O.

Ok heres exactly what happened and what went wrong. It wasnt just that one wire!!!! When i first put the motor in i couldnt get any spark because of that wire in the pics!! So without testing anything like a dummy i assumed the coil went out! (Before i ever found that wire.) I went and bought that MSD coil and installed it. Wrong thing to do!!! For some reason that MSD coil in the pics will not work on my brat. I wiggled some wires around and started getting spark. But the motor would not rev up, it idled very rough and just sounded like crap. Thats when i found that wire! I fixed the wire yesterday and it still acted the same. Just my luck. So just to give it a shot i put my factory coil back on and she runs. I timed it last night with a timing light and she runs perfect. For some odd reason my brat will not handle that high power coil! Anybody know why it wont handle it????? Think if i put new cap, rotor, new points and plug wires it will handle it?? Kinda crazy how all of that worked out but it did and shes running great! Leasons learned: 1. Test things the best you can before just assuming you know the problem. 2. MSD coils will not work with my brat! 3. Factory coil was never bad. 4. Learned and understand how the points ignition works. Thanks again everyone! Anybody have any suggestions about that MSD Coil and why it wont work. Hope that this helps someone else someday. -

I think i found my problem!!!!!!!!! The black wire is connected to one side of the points. even when the points are open it acts like they are closed bc the wire has a whole in it. I put some black tape on the wire and then started it, it ran ok for a few mins but then spit and sputtered again, i looked at the tape and the tape was burned through. making it worse and worse until it kills the motor. Im going to fix this wire and see if it fixes my problem!!! Be praying for me! lol Ill let you know. -

ok i think i have more than one problem possibly. the pic with the disty has a black wire running to the points. where the wire goes around that bracket there was some copper showing. Not to sure if that was a problem or not since it runs to the points anyway. Right now the motor will start up and idle really ruff. So we have spark! Every once in a while it will spit and sputter then it will die and back run a little bit. what should i check now? Gloyale i did that test you told me to and its not like you said. when i check for continutiy when the points are open and closed i get the same reading. what could be the problem? Oh and when i try to give the motor gas it wont rev up -

Gotcha! So what actually tells the coil to spark? I know that the points do but what do they actually do? Does the system somehow get grounded and causes it to spark? Does the coil know when the volts reach 12.5 and that makes it spark? It just kinda always on edge. Thanks again bro. Im headed to the house ill let ya know what i come up with. -

Will do when i get home. Ill let ya know in about an hour or so. Thanks for helping me figure this thing out. by the way, do i have a iginition module that could be messed up? I wouldnt thinks so bc it was fine with the other motor. -

the motor that i just put in there has caught fire once and the old disty was trash. So i use another disty that was on the motor i pulled out. Before i pulled the disty out I rotated the motor by hand and i marked exactly where it was by the flat spot on the shaft that the rotor slides on. Without rotating the motor, I carefully stabbed the new disty in the same place. I am 99.99 percent sure it got it lined up exactly. There seemed to be a big difference in the teeth of that gear. If i was one behind it was way off my mark and the same what if i was forward. Shouldnt the coil still throw a normal spark even if I was off a tooth? im not saying it would run but i thought it dam sure would spark Does all that make sence to ya? -

If the dwell is sooooo touchy why do people FILE them? I did do that thinking it might run better once i put this other motor in. Just enought to clean up the points. Is this where i probably F 'ed up? Bc the other motor ran fine as far as ignition goes. and the only thing i did was file them a little. -

Gloyale that helps alot. That makes perfect sence. So that broke wire goes from a hot side of my coil to a ground? Man that just doesnt seem right. Grounding a Hot. lol. Think i should just leave it off? If the dwell was far off would it overheat the coil and cause it to stop sparking? Does .002 make a big difference in the gap? Just curious. Thanks again. -
