  1. The guy I bought from wanted $700. But then he call me on my way down to look at it and made the mistake of telling me his bottom line... I would have paid more but... The lil' Bastard runs like a watch. I took it to my Subaru mechanic to check everything out and he was dumbfounded that the guy sold it so cheap... It's about time some good car karma came my way after the last Subi I bought!
  2. It all sounds great to me... Any of those weekends would work. I like the idea of Memorial weekend, I was originally worried that it might conflict with other peoples plans i.e. Family trips and what not. But a 3 day weekend would be nice... No rush to get home. Fenix... Looks like you've scouted out some awsome spots. I like the onroad/offroad angle-Jake
  3. What about the weekend before or after Memorial Day week end? Nice weather... Still gives enough time to sort stuff out... I really want to see this happen!!! -Jake
  4. Oh ya the 1st Pic was after I washed it... That is all oxidation not dirt! Man I can't wait to paint it:grin:
  5. My new Brat... From turd To polished turd Best $450.00 I ever spent... -Jake
  6. I've searched... I've Googled... I can't find anything on 1979 Brat Exhaust parts. I picked up a 79 Brat, runs great but the muffler is shot. And of course I bought a new muffler, after what little info I did find, but before I got the car home. I picked up a Cherry Bomb Turbo p/n16802 same dementions as the stocker and thats what I have read that others have used but my stocker sits sideways and exits out the side of the muffler and the new one exits out the end like a normal one it's a 2".... Do I mod it and run it out the side or is there a different muffler I can use that pretty much is a bolt on? Thanks -Jake
  7. Bummer... luckly parts are cheap. Like it was said before check yards maroon wagons make up like a third of all colors options. Should be no problem. Good thing it was a minor fender bender since the bimbo that munched you had no insurance... Or at least proof of it. -Jake
  8. Sounds good Fenix! See what you can find out. I don't know the area that well but that Peoples Pond sounds kinda cool, less red tape then say the fairgrounds. If we could get this ball a roll'in maybe we can get some of the original posters of this thread back on board. 30,40.or 100 Brats, if there is still that many in this area, would be so cool invading E-town!!! -Jake
  9. I'd buy a set. Could pay for them by grooming x-country ski and snowmobile trails in the winter...
  10. The stock motor purrrs like a kitten and feels stronger i.e. more power then my 94 loyal so until it blows I'm keep'in it like it is. I was just curious and now that I know what is involved I just can't see sinking that much into it. However if I happen to win the lotto I could see a WRX motor going in and with the knowledge I've gained from Bill he'd get the task of stuffing it together. 305HP Brat? +/- 2000Lb.= WOOHOO! -Jake
  11. We need to revive this thread to keep interest alive! Just imagine the looks when a whole slew of BRATS invade Ellenstown! Hell we might even set so kind of world record... Somebody call Guinness. BRATS UNITE!!!
  12. Cool.... That explains it. Thanks -Jake
  13. This is an old thread but what the hell... I think a Brat meet would be awsome! any chance this will happen? If so I'm in I have some friends in Ellensburg so that would be perfect...
  14. Ok I am a little new to brats, just picked up my 1st, anyway. I have been searching the interweb looking at different brats for insperation and ideas and when looking at photos of 1978-1979 brats some have 2 headlights and some have 4. Mine is a 79 and has 2 headlights. Am I mistaken or did the 4 light set up come in 1980? Did Subaru make both during these years or do the people on cardomain, and other sites not know what year they have? Confused... -Jake
  15. Oh ya 10 Grand is easy to put into a build. This is my 1st brat and my 1st gen 1 so I was just feeling it out. Didn't realize how much went into it. I have a 94 loyal and it seemed that it was a pretty simple swap so I just "ASSUMED" and we all know where that gets you. The little 1.6L runs like a top so thats how she will stay. for now....: If I want to go faster I'll just take a spin my 06 Outback. If I can ever get the wife out of it... I see why they call it that I am always saying "get OUT and give it BACK" -Jake
  16. I think the HEMI is the way to go!... The spinners and fuzzy dice might have to wait... LOL
  17. Ya I thought it would be alot cheaper... I can't see sinking that much dough into my little beater. $10,000 saddle on a $450.00 horse but thanks. For $10.000 I might see about stuffing in a blown supercharged 426 HEMI with NOS and 22" spinners and maybe I might even have enough left over for some fuzzy dice for my mirror.
  18. Looks mean... I won't be doing any real hard wheeling But I think I would want a little bigger tire under it. Looking for some pugs, but if redrilled wheels are safe enough for highway use I wouldn't be against that. Thanks for your input... I really appreciate it. -Jake
  19. Ok... That being said 4" it is. Whatever would be easiest for you. I am still new to all this. Will the 1.6 still be ok? I'm not going to put huge tires on it.
  20. I will totally keep you in mind... I talked to you a year ago about doing a lift on my 94 Loyal... Well $$$ time and buying a house put that to rest for now. But now I have this Brat... I stole it for $450 from a guy in Kennewick. Wanted $700 and on my way down to get it he calls me and tells me his bottom line before we even got to that point. So now... How are your lifts coming? What would we have to do to the Brat to do the lift? and how much... "installed" I buy the beer. Nothing too radical 2" maybe 3" I am not sure when I can get the funds and the time but just checking it out... Thanks -Jake
  21. Ha! I am really lov'in the 1.6L For ten Gs I could think of alot of other things I could do...Like a new kitchen or a roof...
  22. Cool... not sure about an adapter. Beer is good. But now the little 1.6L is running so good I am starting to rethink things. But I'll keep it in mind:grin:
