  1. From the 1983 brochure: 1982 brochure: 1979: 1977, oldest one I can find: I think someone on the board had a gen1 woody wagon. It was a kit offered by the dealer, I think moosens had one in new old stock condition?
  2. Just get the transmission, diff, front axles, and shifters and you should be good to go.
  3. Those cars weigh practically nothing. A stock EA82T in that thing would FLY. Plus it'd handle like a go kart.
  4. Take it to a different store location. Good chance that a different parts store employee would take it back, no questions asked.
  5. Point of advice when Subaru shopping. If it has a hi-lo Dual Range transmission, it's most likely NOT turbo. Exceptions are: 1985-86 RX and SOME turbo GL-10's (DEFINITELY NOT ALL) had a part-time 4WD dual range trans. 1987-89 RX and some turbo GL's (COUPES ONLY!) had a full time 4WD dual range trans. If it's a 1987-89 car and it's got a part time 4WD dual range trans (3 selector positions, no diff lock), it's most definitely NOT a turbo.
  6. Look at the top center of the engine. If it has a silver/gray intake tube that says "TURBO" or "4WD TURBO," it's a turbo. This intake tube will be flat on top and is made of metal, and runs from the top center of the engine, makes a turn toward the back of the engine bay, and then a sharp turn downward. A nonturbo engine will have a big round rubber intake tube running directly from the passenger side fender well to the top center of the engine if it's fuel injected, and a lima bean-shaped metal air cleaner on top if it's carbureted. A turbo car will also say "TURBO" below the tachometer on the instrument cluster. That is, if it's a GL or RX. If it's a GL-10 it will have a digidash, and I don't know where the turbo indicator is. Turbo cars are supposed to say "TURBO" or "4WD TURBO" on the back doors and on the trunklid/hatchback. But not all cars will have these decals. Being a GL or a GL-10 has nothing to do with the engine choices. They were available either way. That's about all I can say about simple ways to tell if it's a turbo. There's a few other technical ways to tell, but those are the basics. If he doesn't know enough to tell you if it's a turbo using that information, then you're just going to have to look at it. If you can get the VIN we can tell you what it is. The fact that it's a dual range means it's more than likely NOT turbo, but they did make some turbo dual range RX's and some early model GL-10's.
  7. 5-speed swap time! But seriously, if you've gotta take it all apart anyway... they're oh so much better than an automatic.
  8. Could the Subaru be becoming the next Microbus?
  9. Some mud holes are also harder to see in the dark.
  10. If they take it, part it out and put the money toward an even better Roo.
  11. Yeah, you can try to walk away, but you'll be back! Good luck with your Legacy. They're wonderful cars. Good call on bailing on that Loyale- sometimes you just have to pull up and back off. Better safe than sorry.
  12. mtsmiths lives in Bozeman, and I believe another member does too. Tailgatewagon maybe? Probably would be worth sending them an email, or attempting to get contact info for them from anyone who knows.
  13. Uh oh... those be Trashwagon colors! Nice find, by the way.
  14. The window is indeed specific. Those care are very rare in the US, only made in 89 and 90. In other countries it ran for the whole run of EA82's.
  15. Here's your daily internet cliche. 'Nuff said. http://www.snopes.com/photos/lumber.asp
  16. It's all on http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/wheels.html Basically any Peugeot 504 or 505. Just make sure it's a 14" or 15" and NOT a 390mm.
  17. The difference is indeed between early and late models. Far as I know they made two different types of lights... 1. 85-86 Sedan and Wagon 2. 87-94 Sedan and Wagon, 86-90 3-door. The 86 3-door takes the same grille as all the other 3-doors, and from what I can tell the lights are the same. As for the parklamp... you're looking at 87-94 composite headlights only. The 4-headlight setup parklamp is narrower. The 85-86 parklamp will fit, but the reflector is shaped differently.
  18. Check the parking light switch on the top of the steering column. First Soob I had had the fuse yanked for that circuit. Switch off, everything worked normally. Switch on, I got the exact conditions you describe. Flipping that switch to the off position may solve your problem. Could have bumped it by mistake while off road.
  19. The RX is the only Subaru I've ever had that didn't bog down on those hills. I'm assuming you're talking about the ones on I-68... Cooper's Rock, Big Savage Mtn, Negro Mtn, Sideling Hill, etc. I took them in my 92 Loyale with a 3AT and yes, it got down to around 50mph before hitting the top. I'd keep my foot the floor in 3rd for what seemed like forever, and eventually as the car slowed down it'd downshift. There's really no good way to get over those mountains.
  20. So you're saying... I already have the lowest rear struts available?
  21. Found these pics while browsing around Google images. The whole page is in Japanese and I can't read any of it... but I think this car is stunning. Why couldn't they have made it in this color in the US? And here's the inside of it... the seats appear to be the same shape as our US RX seats, but they look like a softer fabric.
  22. How about something like this: or this: or this: Found all of those by typing "Subaru RX" into Google Image Search.
  23. Oooooo... now where did you get those?
