i am trying to get a set of impreza seats into my brat, do the sliders come off of the imprez seats at all? i havent really been able to get into and kind of detailed investigation with the seats i have, but i couldnt find anyway of removing the brackets and sliders form em. on top of that, i would still need to modify the brackets to fit into the brat and i might have to relocate one of the driver side mounts since i think the captive nut that you thread the bolt into has broken loose from when i put in the last set of seats. any tips or tricks to getting impreza seats to fit into a brat?

trust me when i say that it would not at all be fun to get hit by a marker firing that fast. 300fps is the fastest you want to let it get. any faster and you run the risk of injury. i run my markers around 275-285. to dent a car door or break glass, you would have to be firing very "hot". like 350fpr-400fps+. at those velocites, you would also most likely crack lenses on paintball masks and break the skin on who ever you hit. paintball isnt about trying to hurt anyone, its a generally fun game of tag, if you want to think of it like that. i have been hit by markers firing hot, it hurts a lot, even with padding. hell, my gf got hit in the head by someone firing hot. that pissed me off since i had to calm her down aftewards. it was even worse when i told her that it was bleeding, she wanted to kill the guy that hit her. then again, dude also "bonus balled" her, in other words, he shot her after she was out and trying to leave the field. to people that play seriously, its kinda of a mission to try to get paintball in a better view to those who dont play it. as much fun as it would be to shoot signs and cars with paintball guns, it does nothing to improve the game's image, in fact, it really hurts it. if you are lookig to get started into paintball, go to www.pbnation.com and read up on what ever you might need to know, and remember, the search button is your friend. and as for freezing the paint, it causes them to shrink and dimple. most paint currently available doesnt freeze anymore. old paint might freeze. if you ever get caught with frozen paint in the hopper or marker, you can be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon as well. -

dont go connie. you just need to take a short break from the car. dont give up on it. i know if you give up, you will regret it, maybe not right away, but before too long, it will catch up with you. if you were closer, i would be happy to help you out. if it comes down to it, i might end up with a spare ea81 when i swap my brat. i am pretty sure the engine itself is in good shape, but the carb needs attention. but yeah, once i get the brat swapped to the ea82t, ill be happy to bring you the ea81 i have from it. and you know that you have more friends here that would hate to see you go. i for one feel that the community would be much less fun without you. if there is anything that i can do, let me know. just dont give up -
want a new exhaust. ideas?
subyrally replied to crazylong127's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i might have to make that trip some time, not sure about this weekend though, going out to play paintball. might have to do some cutting a rewelding to get the exhaust to come out the sides on my brat, i think there is a support peice behind the rocker section that the side steps are located on. but i should be able to drill out the spot welds on that and move it back about 3"-4" to make room for the mufflers to mount up. i am actually using a dual cansiter muffler that i used to have on my impreza, basically, its two small mufflers side by side with a small y-pipe and some brackets holing them together. should sound just fine when done. -

i am planning on running a y-pipe after the cat in my brat and then having the pipes come out either side behind the cab area. basically where the side steps are on the brat behind the doors. im sure you could do the same thing on your wagon and just run the pipes under the rocker. but it all depends on what you are going for as well. i personally love to hear the exhaust note over the buzzy hopnda next to me in traffic, -
isnt that the brat that was posted for sale here a few months back for a rather large sum of $$? either way, that is one clean looking brat. be very careful about the mods you make to it seeing as it is in such good condition. you dont want to risk messing up something that rare. but no matter what you do with it, be sure to take lots of pictures for us so that we can see the progress yo make. and lastly, have fun with it.

glad to hear that everyone is ok, the car did what it was designed to do, race in rallies and save lives.

dont give up connie. just step back, catch your breath and start on it again. you know you have friends here that are backing you. some in person, others in spirit. you know that if you need anything, all you need to do is ask. take a few days off of messing with the car, gather your thoughts, then tackle that beast. just remember to take your time and never be afaid to ask for help if you need it. thats why we are here. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! -
this could get interesting. definatly going to be watching this.

definatly get rid of as much rust as you can. and remember to cut past the rust to be sure you got it all. if you can, i would reccomend using heavy gauge steel to patch what you cut out and use the angle steel to reinforce the areas. make sure that you take steps to prevent rust as well. get weld trough primer on the back sides of the steel to help prevent exposure. the weld through primer should be high in zink, and if i remember correctly, zinc draws corrsion away from the steel, which if anything, will slow down the rate that any new rust will form from the inside. if you can get the back sides of the fresh metal after welding, try to get some sealer or a high quality paint on the metal as well. currently, my brat has still got rust in those areas, but i dont have a welder capable of penetration on thick steel. then again, my welder doesnt even work now that i think of it, lol.

another bit of advice, dont do a hard launch in the car. get it rolling before you putyour foot down. the 5 spd trans in the car is great, but can flex under a hard load like a launch. i wouls also highly reccomend that you use synthetic oil in it and only NGK spark plugs. i suggest the NGK Iridium plugs, i use them in my impreza, brat, and rx. other than that, i would say to just enjoy the ride and have as much fun with it as you can.

look up "cobb" tuning. i think they have a few parts for the n/a 2.5l engine.
