  1. so wait, im not the only one that works for advance?!? granted, my store is #1 in our division:banana: and since i work there, there is always a subaru fiend on hand to find the right parts the first time. on a bit of an off topic side note, if you look through the advance computers in the part number look up, you can find a full sized refrigerator and washer and dryer.
  2. i was wanting to do this a while back, but i couldnt find a brat in good enough shape to bother with. keep us up to date if you go through with it.
  3. youve got my attention. keep us up to date.
  4. i really want to go again this year, but it looks like i will have to pass on it cause of work
  5. hate to burst your bubble, but thats the engine bay shot from the 04 wrc sti. ive had that pic on my pc for a while now.
  6. some one should get this parts list to subygal, she could tell us if the parts are available and how to find em.
  7. 86 wont fit the harness from an 87 or newer car. but i have two 87 ecu's and an 86.
  8. for the coolant sensor, you might want to look at http://www.advanceautoparts.com. i dont think there are any advance auto stores out west, but you can get parts from the web site. and the coolant sensor is like $15-$20, less for me due to my discount:brow:
  9. i have another ecu sitting in my parts stash, actuall, i have two, i can bring em by some time to see if it makes a difference. let me know gary.
  10. i lust that hood. my rx will be that cool one day, but i cant say that i like yellow on a car
  11. the only issue with it is that the tops of the springs are a bit larger than the stock springs. they do fit with the stock tophats, but you just have to be careful when mounting them to make sure they line up right.
  12. the ide will be firm as the newer impreza is about 500-600lbs heavier than your impreza. it will also lift your car about two inches all around. at least, it lifted my impreza when i went with the 04 bits from my friend's wrx.
  13. as far as the ball joints and such, they seem to be pretty strong on the impreza. ive got about 130k on my impreza and im pretty sure that they are all stock, as well as the axles and cv boots. tie rods might be something to look into, but once again, im still on the original rods, and i drive the car like it was meant to be driven. now if you want to get better control arms, that is very easy, you can get teh jdm sti front forged aluminum control arms. lighter and stronger than the stamped steel arms these car came with.
  14. id start with getting a set of kyb agx adjustable struts and maybe a set of 04 wrx springs to lift it slightly for a bit more ground clearance on the gravel roads, then, look for some skid plates to protect your engine and rear diff. for the skid plates, i think you can get em at http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/ and for the springs, i might be parting with a set shortly cause i get a set of tarmac springs to install on my impreza. you also might want to look into getting a stock rear swaybar from a wrx, it will give you a bit better handling, make the the car a bit closer to neutral handling. once you get the handling and protection down, then you might want to move on to performance mods, like intake and exhaust. good luck man, have fun and be safe out there. peace tim c
  15. hmmm, my car dopesnt have that on it next to the boost light switch. hmmm, granted, it is a frankencar.
  16. i love you like a brother man. keep me updated on what you can find, and if you can get a scan of the two harnesses, id be stoked, the wiring section is the only one i dont have in my fsm set for the rx.
  17. do you have any wiring diagrams on the engine harness or at least the tps? if i could at least get the xt or xt6 diagram, ill be able to figure out something. sofar, i still hve the stock intake manifold in the car, but i will be setting up my spyder once i get an adaptor made for the new throttle body. sadly enough, i currently have both sensors in my bedroom
  18. has anyone found a way around the differences in the three and four wire tps's? i have an 86 rx, as many already know. and i want to get a larger throttle body on the car, i have the xt6 throttle body to mount up to my spyder manifold, but its got the four wire tps and my car only has a three wire tps in it. is there anyway to either get the three wire to work with the xt6 tb or is there a away to translate the signal or moddify the sensor to work with the cars existing harness and ecu?
  19. my handles great on gravel roads, even with 205/50/15 tires on it. but then again, its not a mushy luxury car either. i honestly prefer to have a stiffer ride, not quite as bad as a track car, but i dont like a mushy ride. and if your suspension is working properly, it shouldnt be too bad with 15" low profile tires.
