  1. sounds sweet, im hopingto be able to have my rx as nice as yours soon, i just gotta keep saving $$
  2. i finally got my rx back on the road after nearly 6 months of sitting around and having blown head gaskets. the engine has been resealed from the head gaskets up and i forgot the cam seals, go me. the only issues im having with it is that the ecs light will flicker on ever now and then, usually for like 2 seconds, but the car will sstumble a little bit when it comes on. it usually only does it after ive been drining at higher speeds for a while and then start driving at lower speeds and rpm. the other issue is that the new oil pan gasket s still leaking a bit, i tihnk the oil pump and cam seals are also leaking. the bottom of the shifter linkage also likes to ring agains the rive shaft when im decelerating.. is there any way to adjust that so it doesnt rub the drive shaft?? other than the few issues im having, the rx is running great, it does 80 mph without effort on the highway, before it wouldnt even do 70. im hoping to get a few go fast bits into the rx soon, i just need more$$$ first.. i already have intercoolers and a td04 waiting to go into it, i just need toget adaptors for the turbo and plumbing for the intercoolers.
  3. its the little thing ontop of the thermostat housing on normal intake manifolds. its the peice tha has a hose coming from the underside of the intake plenum and another behind the throttle body. its basically a throttle body bypass for when the throttle plate is closed so that the engine doesnt stall.
  4. check the boots on the plug wires, my rx didnt start casue the boots on the plug wires were pulled down too far and prevented a good connection. took me a while to figure tha out, boy did i feel dumb when i figured that out.
  5. if you remove the aac, also know as an idle air control if im not mistaken. your car will have trouble idling when you are at a stop. if im not mistaken, not only does it control cold idle, it keeps your engine from choking when your foot is off the gas.
  6. could the rattling be from your teeth on rough roads?
  7. one thing i didnt mention, i have a full 2.5" turbo back exhaust on my rx with a new 3-way cat.
  8. i know the dark metalic blue on my 86 rx is called twilight blue metallic.
  9. i gota cherry bomb turbo 2 muffler on my rx, it sounds nice. i only paid $15 for it got a kinda a deep low tone to it and is baffeled, so it will pass inspection in most states.///
  10. subau engines were designed after the old porche engines back in the day. but subaru was the one that started the watercooling of engines in the equasion.
  11. yeah, gary, just putting it in gear isnt enough to to loosen the bolt, ive mosed the car trying that in the rx. you have to have something solid to keep it in place when you loosen it. the cranking the car over with a long breaker in the bolt works really well tohugh.
  12. first, remove the intake assembly, then below that on the bell housing will be a little rubber cober for the timing marks basically. pop that off nd wedge a flat head screw driver between the teeth of the ring gear and hte block. basically, stick the screw drver in there and start to turn the bolt, eventually it will catch and lock it in place. i reccomend using a breaker bar and an extention on that, like a cheater bar. i used the arm from the gazel excercize machine over the handle of the breaker bar.just revers the the process to reinstall/
  13. pretty common issue in the 4eat tranny, they have an electronic center diff that like to burn out basicaly, at around 120k miles. i have seen a lot of older legacies that are no longer awd due to the diff burning out. have a mechanic look at i, they might be able to repair or replace it.
  14. the injectors arent in the head, they are in the runners on the manifold. you might be able to run two injectors on the runners aiming em at the inlet port on the heads.
  15. yeah, the best bet is either through the throttle body or the pcv valve. i reccomend not usuing more than 1/2 of a can through the intake and no more than one can per 3000 miles. it is sensor safe, but if you use it too often, it can be damaging.i sell that stuff every day and swear by it.
  16. idle air control valve, they let just enough air past the throttle plate when your foot is off the gas. keeps it from stalling.
  17. nice to see you finally made it here, by far the best old school site ive seen sofar.
  18. just go to your local parts store, apc has a set of led replacement bulbs that arent too expinsive
  19. a can of sea foam. the greatest thing ever made for cars.
  20. hmmm, not sure if youd get enough fuel with spfi to run boost, you might have an issue with running lean. also, you might need a different cam, turbo cams have less overlap than n/a cams. it could work, but it wouldnt be easy. it might hurt you at low end unless tou can get the turbo to spool up earlier than it normally does. any thing is possible if you take your time and have some money to burn. research everything first, figure out what boost range you will want, where your rpm range will be for the power band. that should help you determine what youll need to do for your build up.
