  1. honestly, i prefer snow or high speed gravel trails over mud and rocks
  2. your turbo will be a rbh5 vf4 through vf7. doesnt seem to be anything different between the vf4 and 7...i do beleive they are the same turbos. i am wondering if maybe the vf4 was the turbo for the auto tranny cars and the vf7 was for the 5 spd. but thats just a theory.
  3. hit me up on aim or via pm, well set things up.
  4. will, can you get me one of those?? i will be needing one once i get the engine done.
  5. hey will, was that with the clutchnet stuffs???
  6. i can get that msd unit at 20% off retail, gotta love working at a parts store/
  7. i have the msd blaster 2 coil, its great, i am thinking that if i dont conver the car to distributorless ignition, i might go with the msd multy spark box that we sell at the store i work at. as for the accell box looking coil, i think that thing is supposed to be a amonster compaired to the super stock coil they sell. that thing is really heave and has a huge internal winding.
  8. not sure what its worth, i think i paid like $25 for it and a dead coil. i know it works casue i used in my rx with another coil back when i was trying to figure out another issue. what you want to spend on it plus shipping i guess. prolly like $15 plus shipping. unless that is too much, then we can work somethnig out for you. hit me up in a pm or on aol instant messanger.
  9. is it the little thing thats under the coil on the coil bracket?? if so, i have one i can part with...
  10. the guy i used to work for put tractor tires on his son's ea82 coupe... had to take the front fenders off to fit em, but im sure there is nothing hed get stuck in. tractor tires do strange burnots though.
  11. intercooler piping is what you nee to get sized right, you dont want it too small casue then it become a restriction, too large and you loose your boost trying to pressurize the piping, you need to find a happy medium, if you get it right, you shouldnt have much if any lag caused by the plumbing, in theory.
  12. dont squish it!!! you can do the head gaskets yourself for less than $125
  13. i nearly forgot about this thread. yeah, i had got the rx on the road, the first engine blew a piston and the second blew head gaskets, i just got it running again last week, now i need to get it inspected and reregistered. once agian, i am looking at trying to get ahold of a new header for the rx, maybe one that i i could have an interchangeable inlet for the turbos. same thing with the down pipe. that way i could run the stocker till im ready to run the td04... that and i wont have to get a new header when i swap the turbo.
  14. just thought you should know, 134 isnt as cold as r12. if you can find someone that can replace the 12 for you, jump on it. r12 was much more efficiant, but i think it asnt enviromentally happy, sure, happy works, in the case of an accident. it is still available, you just neeed a mechanic with a liscence to et ahold of it, that or a home hvac tech, i thnk. i work at an autoparts store, the peopl that have converted from r12 didnt seem to happy about the swap.
  15. the machine shop my first engine is at will be doing a port and polish for me for about $600 or so... this is also a shop that builds race winning engines, so i know he knows what he id doing. i just need to get the money for the work i want.
  16. hell, while its apart, you might as well get a multi angle vavle job, even if you are only just rebuilding the engine, you might as well get some more power outta it.
  17. also, make sure you have the cable for it still attached, mine doesnt have it cause i took it out do to not having all the parts for it.
  18. anything is possible with enough "drink" a welder, and a big hammer. and money doesnt hurt either.
  19. once again, i need to get myself an old school suby on the road. this is tormenting me, you guys are all having too much fun out west
  20. the real question is, is that the price of just four or is a full set??
  21. enjoy the rs, i have the 2000 rs, i love it more than anything else. granted, i also enjoy my rx, but the impreza was my first car.
  22. that sounds like what most likely happened with mine. i am actually going out to run it for a little while. hell, if i dont sell it, i might actually drive it again, its a fun little car to romp around in. also, if i keep it. i might look into fitting a set of audi tt corner mount intercoolers to it. hmm, that could be a fun challenge.
  23. well, looks like the smoke was just the crap left over from before the head gasket job. probably just what was left in the cat... either way, the lifter tick has gone away and it didnt smoke at all tonight. now it looks like all thats left is to find out where the little coolant leak it and figure out if the exhasut manifold is cracked.
  24. well, i dont think thats coolant burning, but it stopped smoking today and the lifters quieted down a bit. the lifters are no longer deafining.i still think the manifold might have a crack under the heat shroud. i can see what looks like exhaust streaming out from the head sheild.
  25. eh, just scrub the rims really good, then use a high quality wax on em, that will keep the brake dust from sticking so easily and make em easier to wash the next time.
