  1. thats why you put a front mount in, duh:rolleyes:
  2. if you do it, dont take it into public, ot take pics, or admit it. i wouldnt. spinners are the biggest waste of money, time and material ever, that and they have no place on any car. they barely look good on suv's.
  3. ive seen polished and annodized compressor housings. and ceramic coated turbine housings
  4. hmm, you could always try what i want to do with my rx, i want to see about geting either fender flairs or a custom wide body kit for it, granted, either one would require some cutting and welding, but in the end, would look great and keep the police from pulling my over for tires sticking out the sides.
  5. im pretty sure that the ej manifold wont fit on the ea engine. your best bet would be to find the spyder manifold from an xt, or vortex, or what ever else its called. i dont know if they were available out your way with that manifold or not, but you ight be able to get one shipped from the u.s. .... some once correct me if im wrong on anything. im too tired to think streight. peace tim
  6. damn noah, way to be a downer. j/k id like to see some coverage of the people running the old turbo cars, like wjm and Do It Sideways. maybe we could also get a pic of my rx and my impreza in the magazine:) hmm, you could also hook up an unemployed suby lover witha year's subscrition, id dig that. peace tim
  7. i have to agree with that. my main reasoning behid getting tuned length is that it brings out the boxer rumble;) i love the way the borla headers made my impreza sounds. once i start working again, im going to have the rx fiixed and get a set of headers made for it as well.
  8. the best option for better braking in an impreza is to swap the front brakes for stock wrx brakes. i think the calipers are bit larger and there are more options as far as high performance pads and rotors. you can usually get a slightly used set for cheap on nasioc.com or ebay.
  9. all bow to the shadow!! now if only i could get you out here to help me out with my rx.
  10. it depends on the pads, ive seen some high end pads that are semi-metalic and dont squeal or dirty the rims. you have to remember, you get what you pay for. granted, i am under the impresison that the rear brakes are useless, mine are completely gone and the car still stops on a dime and makes change.
  11. thanks for the wisdom fox. if you ever make it out here, id be greatful if youd stop by to lend a hand. and i might even be abe to help you with getting parts and tools if you need anything, i am getting ready to start a new job at a parts store:) peace tim
  12. for the rear bolts, ive been told that you will have to jack up the tranny about 3inches to bring the engine off of the cross member. from there, you should be able to easily get to the bolts. i remember people saying that the torque specs on the bolts is very low, like 11-18 lb/ft. if you tighten them too much, it will leak and if not tight enough, it will leak. i think the best bet is to tighten it with a philips head screw driver. ill see if i cant find the post that mentioned the torque specs. ill also check my fsm.
  13. to use the vented legacy rotors, you will need to get the legacy rear calipers and brackets, trust me, they will not fit the stock calipers. last i checked, i think legacy777 was sellinga set of rear brakes. i would have bought em, but i had some financial issues. as for the roof vent, i think that rallitek.com might have it.
  14. ive heard a lot about issues with the 4eat tranny and the center diff taking a dump on em past 120k. im not sure if thats all the 4eat autop trannies, but, i have seen quitea few awd cars with dead center diffs. i really would like to see a mechanical replacememt for the electronic center diff.
  15. cometic makes metal head gaskets for the ea82 and ive been told that o-ringing the engine would help greatly with these engines.
  16. doesnt look too bad at all. as for the turbo, im pretty sure that its set to run at 8psi, thats what mine has done with both engines ive had in the car. in theory, it should boost a bit more with simple mods, but as far as ive seen personally, in more than just my car, the stocker runs 8psi normally.
  17. instead of equal length, try tuned length. the way thesse engines arelayed out, its easier to go tuned instead of equal. tuned is where one side is twice the length of the other, but it evens out the pressure like equal, just sounds better. that and you would have to make fewer bends. look at the borla headers for the ej22, its only a two pipe header, but its the same design as what im talking about. another ting you could di is to make a removable uppipe so that you wont have to make a new header or chop the new one if you decide to change turbos.
  18. i would suggest that yourun two seperat pipes to a collector just before the turbo. that might just be mylikings though, im not a big fan of the stock style manifold, its not hte best design for flow.
  19. wow, i thought my lack of a life would get me somewhere one day.
  20. hmm, when taking ot the lower bolts on the bell housing, i just got under the car with a ratchet and 14mmsocket. i think i useda short extention, but i didnt have to do anything special to get em out, just have to get the socket on the bolt and then attach the extention to it afterwards. i think thats how i did it over winter when i swaped out the engine in my rx. never had to pull axles or anyting, although, i will tell you that its a good idea to jack up the tranny about 2-3 inches.
  21. why do i think of mad max when i see that?
  22. the turbo in my rx runs at 8psi. hey, got any pics of the trueno? i always thought that was a cool looking car, i guess im partial to old school japanese cars. i still love my impreza though. do you have any other mods done to it yet? peace tim
  23. that sounds about right, i think i even made the same statement when i was replacing the hose. ive noticed a few things on these cars that have made me want to go engineer hunting. there are a lot of little things that could have been easily done differently. hmm, anyone up fora trip to find the ea82 designers? give em a peice of our minds. either that, or convince them to hook us up with some go fast bits for not beating them stupid. hmmm, maybe ive said too much now, but the person that designed that hose routing should be hurt or made to replace it with out pulling the manifold.
  24. i might have a spare fan around here if you want to use it. ill have to go look for it though.
  25. ive seen a bone stick sti spin all four on dry pavement. did a clutch drop in first around a corner from a stop.
