i might be able to venture up that way if nug is still down for it. the way i see it, i can fold the seats down in my rx and i will have a nice bed to crash in. hmmm, if i do that, i might want to insulate the trunk and fix some weather stripping. i really want to come out there and meet you guys. peace tim c. -
i go with everyone else in saying "get it now". i dont agree with those who say it will be disappointing compared to a rs, i have 2000 2.5rs thats been moded and a rx the i just got a new turbo back exhaust on last night. i love both cars, infact, i think i enjoy driving the rx a little bit more than the impreza, granted the impreza is an auto and the rx is a 5 spd d/r

Custom steering wheels - Post your pic!
subyrally replied to Alf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
beat me to it. the real question is how do you get an adaptor for the wheel? -
i wonder whats so different between lhd and rhd cars, other than the obviouslike the driver being on the right.

try insulating the turbo from the engine a bit better, i know somee out here will say that the turbo isnt a problem, but when it rests over #3 and there are always issues with 3, then i tend to put 2 and 2 together. the extra heat from the turbo can and will adversly affect the cylender, ive seen it numerous times on wrx's, especially if its modded and been pushed for while. look into getting a turbo insulation kit, i think that you can get em for about $50 and they are made to take extream temps and help under hood temps and hp. just my thoughts on the issue, that and the stock fuel system needs work.

lucas tranny oil pretty good stuff
subyrally replied to teasdam's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i went to school for a while for automotive studies (lincoln tech is trast) an i only learned one thing from the auto trans calss, i never want to work on one again. i can rip one apart, replace the seals, but ill be damned to tell you how the thing works. -
i also remember seing a twin turbo legacy from japan, but i thik that was suposedly under powered and hard to find.. but still, imagine tuning one, you should be able to make a monster outta one.

New exhaust, Now RX sounds like a Toyota pickup????
subyrally replied to tizzle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you really want the boxer rumble, look into "tuned length" headers, not equal length. tuned means that one side is exactly twice the length as the other, makes the same flow as an equal length but give it the different sound. -

i swear by the lucas products. if it harmed engines, i dont think the local race shop would run it in their supra drag car. anyone thats seen nopi tunervision on spike tv or nopi street magazine has probably seen em, msp racing. i think they won every race they entered last year. amazing car they have. -

Removing the Fuel Pressure Regulator
subyrally replied to Myxalplyx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
im glad i saw this post, now i know how to set up my regulator, but i thin that i might hit up the msd catalog and build a custon fuel delivery syste, for my spyder manifold. that way, i can get injsctors in any flow rate i wants without worrying about the little hoses. -
Autozone selling new goodies!!!
subyrally replied to 4WDFrenzy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
advanced auto parts and pep boys have all the same stuffs. i dont think that anyof it is over $25 or so. i actually have the flexy hose and a few little bits from that section.the flex hose fits perfectly where my a/c compressor used to go and goes over the manifold and dumps air into the spare tire shelf and into the filter. -
has anyone done this mod
subyrally replied to erik litchy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
damn, why does tis pop up after i already have the rx getting rack put in, i bet there is no chance to get th bushings today as well. thats just one of many things i want to do to the rx before im done with it. -
i think ill go to the junk yard tomarrow and try to find these. it might be worth my while to try it anyways, i just need to get my rx back from meineke, it was due yesterday but i had the wrong steering rack, then i gave em the right one today and was told it would be dont befre they closed, it wasnt even moved from its resting spot at all today, bastards. if i get these and the car pases inspection and that jazz, ill get em in there and see how it does. i hope to ave the car back by monday and registered as well, then maybe ill have a ride to and from work seeing as my impreza is sans driver side window and its going to rain.snow on monday.

ive heard rumor of a twin turbo factory wrx, but that was last years model and the sti trim in japan, and i think it was only a factory show car.

thats odd that i would have two vf4's that both came on newer ea82t engines, the one i just got came with the engine from 1988. the whole thing was pulled from a car as a whole, not peiced together at the yard. now im curious, i want to get ahold of a vf7 for compairison. btw, i think the first engine and turbo i had came from a gl-10 from either 87 or 89, i not sure which one i got when i put it in, i just know it had new heads on it.

subyrally replied to scrapdaddytatum's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
dude, you gotta come up to maryland with that beast, i wanna see that in person. if you check out the mid atlantic section on nasioc, we have a suby meet/ pizza night usually once a month in mt.airy md. it usually falls on a wednesday night.we cold meet up some where and head out there together, represent the old school. that and i really want to compair it to my rx, see how things work out on yours. peace tim c. -

sounds a lot like what im working up. i gotta get the car running first, then save up for my engine work. i wanna see this, and get it dyno'ed, i wanna see that too. -
i actually dont have that device in my rx, i have the line going from the compressor right into the waist gate, the bost is normal, doesnt boost over 10psi. the other thing i that there, i tihink, its the boost sensor that turns on the little turbo light in the dash, needless to say, mine doesnt come on.

i have no idea, i need to find a vf7 to compare the two. but im not too worried about it, im going to replace it with a td04 anyways.
