  1. i was thinking about using a zinc galvanizing primer on it when i get it cleaned up, then i want to hit it with a good primer, metalic base coat primer, the metalic purple that i want to go on it, then maybe a heavy duty wheel paint clear coat over that. with wet sanding on the later coats for a nice shine on a part few will ever see, lol. i am going with flat black and glossy metalic purple on the brat, it will look sweet when its done, but thats a ways off.
  2. yeah, thats kinda what i was thinking, ive got the ea82 swaybar available since i stripped out my rx, its just a rolling shell right now. ill just go that route. on a side note, any one know a good way to paint the swaybar with out the paint flaking off? had that problem on my impreza a while back. i stripped it, cleaned, primed and painted it, within a few months, it was just rust all the way across the bar.
  3. i know whiteling used to make a rear swaybar kit for the brat and other ea81 cars, but from what i hear, dont anymore. i talked to the parts department at annapolis subaru, a whiteline dealer. i talked with jackie, she said that her destributor said they arent available anymore. she also said that she sent an email to whiteline in australia and is waiting for a response on that. then the idea of seeing if any one else would want a kit, we figured that if there was enough interest in it, they might make up a few kits as a one time run. so, would anyone be willing to get one if they were available again?
  4. i can dig that, i agree with the wanting of a late brat design though since i have a gen 2 brat. id like to see a later model brat in black and purple, so that i could have one that matches my brat, lol.
  5. omg, i want that sambar, lol that and the rally car on tracks, thats hot. i still cant believe that he had that car drifting with the tracks on it. wow, just wow.
  6. i might try to make it this year. ill be able to roll up in my wrx since the brat wont be ready in time (unless i get a lot of help before then) and the rx is dead and not going to come back again. not necromancing the rx anymore, too much rust and bad vibes. ill know if i can make it closer to the date.
  7. very cool. i cant wait to get out to another race myself. good write up as well.
  8. where are you finding copper gaskets, and that cheap. i can get fel-pro gaskets for about $25 a pop.
  9. is there anyway that you could take some detailed pics of these adapters? i want to get a set of impreza seats into my brat, but i wasnt exactly sure how to go about it. thanks tim c
  10. nice, now you gotta bring that down my way to help me sort out my brat, lol
  11. wd-40 is crap unless you are trying to dry stuff. use PB Blaster or seafoam deep creek. both are great for what you will be needing. they can be found at just abou8t any auto parts store.
  12. i had to do a lot of rust repair when i got my brat. i replaced most of the floor in it, now i just need to get it running. ive owbned it since 2007 and have yet to avtually drive it then again, i dont know carbs for squat. i am still planning on swapping in a 5spd full time 4wd and turbo engine from an rx. i already have everything i need in my possesion, just need to find a way to get everything to a shop and then find the time to actually do the swap. i might have to pass on paintball for a few weeks to get this done, hmm., eh, either way, it will be nice when done. make sure that you head that rust off before it gets worse on your brat, and take lots of pics for us!! peace tim
  13. very interesting, i cant wait to see how you guys do in the races.
  14. wd-40 is crap untless you are trying to prevent water from collecting. i had that problem with my rx last week, just sprayed the throttle spring, cable and the pedal hinge and spring with sea foam deep creek spray. havent had an issue since.
  15. very nice. i personally would like to see more about the megasquirt set up on there. i am still looking to possibly go with that in my brat when i get it done.
  16. welcome to the club. your collection sounds kinda like mine, i have an 86 rx and an 85 brat in the driveway.
  17. about the middle of may, there will be some pretty cool stuff going on in the general area. two things i am interested in both happen on the weekend of the 15th, first is the carlisle import and kit car show, and then in west va, there is a track daze hpde event at summit point raceway. i am trying to do both if i can.
  18. welcome to the club and congrats on the nice scores.
  19. look up iag performance and andrewtech. both are within about an hour or so of baltimore. andrewtech is in gaithersburg and iag is in west minster. boith shops do outstanding work. also, if you are getting a full swap, the guys at andrewtech were saying that they wanted to get ahold of a full time dual range 4wd trans for something they were working on. http://www.andrewtechautomotive.com/ http://www.iagperformance.com/ both shops are awsome. they are great people too. i am in frederick, about 50 miles west of baltimore on I70. let me know when you get out to maryland, id be happy to meet up and show you the shops. peace tim
  20. this would have been nice to have seen last summer when i was replacing the rockers on my brat.
  21. a fewmore details would definatly help, but it almost sounds like the idle screw is set high.
  22. on my rx, i had 205/50-15 tires on the pug rims i got from a 505. the rear lined up with the ear fender, the front stuck out about an inch on either side. with narrower tires, it should less noticable.
  23. i know its annoying, but if i remember correctly, that is about the most damage that the lifter tick will cause, your sanity. i had lifter tick for about three months straight in my rx with one of the engines i had in it. then one day, it just went away. it still ticks sometimes when its cold, but hasnt been as bad as it was. i think its just one of the par for the course things.
