  1. i thought that the rx and gl-10 had an ihi vf7 turbo, i saw the badge on the urbo under the hood of the rx and the one i pulled from it, both say vf4.. any idea whats up with that? i know it isnt the old school unit, it has the oil and water lines running in it. odd thing is that the first one i had fit the down pipe perfectly and the second one doesnt. any one know whats up with that? i looked at the listings for ihi and they have vf1 through vf14 assigned to subaru.
  2. i woulda loved getting that brat, but i think i will hold off on finding one for a while, i just got the rx running agian last night.
  3. amsoil actually has a 25000 mile oil, you get thier filters and change just the filters at 12k and topp it off, if needed. the shop i worked a had a rep from amsoil come around once or twice amonth, their truck had 270000 miles on it and like 10 oil changes. i wouldnt let it go that long between changes, i used their 7500 mile oil and changed it at5k when i had the money to use it.
  4. looked survivable, the roof was crushed in from the sides, not the top.
  5. i just saw it on my way home, stopped traffic in 4 lanes on the interstate, i270. a silver justy looked like it rolled a few times, there was stuff everywhere over all four lanes. the car looked trashed, i hope the driver isnt hurt.
  6. ams oil is soe of the best synthetic oil that ive ever seen, if i could find it or afford it when i found it, id use it exclusivley.
  7. i went to home depot and got a 90* elbow and a few peices of pvc. just carefully cut a hole in the rubber elbow a little smaller than the fitting you have, then push it through the hole, it should stay put, worked on my rx.
  8. mine actually broke in the head. or just above the surface of the head, it had about 1/4" sticking out and that broke off when i tried to use vicegrips to get it. the second time it broke just below the surface of the head. looks like its time to break out the drill and easyouts. i was hoping to get that done tonight so that i only had to put it back together in the morning.
  9. so im not the only one with a broken manifold bolt. i gotta drill it out. or so it seems.
  10. gotta love th ehuge free admission yards that have been in opperation since the dawn of automotive history. the place i go to has everything from old army jeeps and other stuff outta the 50's to subies and other imports, seem to have the most hondas of any yard ive seen. the place is huge, as you crest the hill aproaching it, you see one corner of the yard and say "damn that place is huge, then you pull in and see the other 3/4 of it.

  12. ungodly loud was when i took the exhaust off of my impreza, all i had on it was the borla headers and the cats. it was soo loud, i loved it too. the only downside was that i had no low end torque. was fun on the highway though, top endd was crazy. tap the gas when i was going around 65 and before i knw it, everything was a blur. or so it seemed

  14. i doubt that it would hurt anything but your wallet if a cop catches you, unless your lucky enough to live where the dont care. the rest of the exhaust system should creat enough backpressure for the turbo. in theory. i ran myrx without a mufflr for a little while but that wasnt very far.

  17. hmmm, thats right down the street from me if it the place im thinking of.
  18. that is a cheap catback, sorry to say. mine was 250 after i supplied the muffler, which was another $200.
  19. where are you getting pipes bent?? i paid $250 fora catback on my impreza and it was the cheapest price for the quality in my area. hell, it could be like the performance shop i got to wanting at least 800 to make an exhaust manifold for the rx, wow, two pipes with no more than 6 bends.parts cost would be like $75, i know that an hour of welding dont cost $700 good lluck
  20. i like this idea, i might be in the market for brat parts soon, i hope. im still waitning to get the right brat. can you do fenders?? oem style and maybe also like a 1" flare?? you might be able to sell some of those concidering how hard it is, in some places, to get the factory replacements.

  22. i really like the second pic you made garner, that looks hot.just need to get some kind of wide body kit for it and tuck some wide rubber under it.

  24. get used to the popping and gurgling , thats a subaru thing, the stock exhaust did well at hiding that. my impreza does the same thing, hell, if i feather the gas right, i can get a loud pop out the end. but its justthe boxer engine from what ive been told.
