go for the cherrybomb turbo 2 muffler and find a tip you like. have your local exhaust shop weld the tip to the muffler outlet and then bolt it up to your car. ps, make sure you make measurements and check the angles needed before you get it welded. this is waht i have under my rx, painted flat black, looks and sounds hot.

the cherry bomb is a nice muffler, its what i have on my rx. it doesnt hurt enough to be boticeable aas compared to no muffler. aside from that, it is inspection legal i md, it will pass inspection, now if only the rest of the car would. -
the subaru factory rally car was 210hp on the ea82. that was in the rx. i concider that a factory option, although its nearly impossible to get on the private market.

Why do people hate Loyales?
subyrally replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i dont care what anyone says, subarus are the greatest cars ever. they will always get you home safe, well, within reason. i hit a deer on the interstate in my impreza, smashed the front end on the drivers side, but tit still got me to my friend's house a few miles away.needless to say, these cars are incredably durable and reliable. -

what happens if you tow an AWD improperly?
subyrally replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
there was a thread on nasioc where a guy in detroit , i think, that had his car towed to an impoundfor speeding. the cop called for a truck to take the car. they sent out a normal truck. within a few hundred yards of where they hooked the car, securing it proprly, it jumped the dolly and went into a jerseywall and destroyed the front end of the car. -

other than granading the center diff, if you put an awd car on a tow dolly or on the hook, so to speak, you also will have th car jump out of the dolly that the front wheels are in. i think that its best to just not risk it and spring for a flatbed. -

what engines fit gen 1 brats

what engines fit gen 1 brats
subyrally replied to garner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
who you calling a newbie? im not new, just inexperienced. the only problem i have about doing this is that i dont even have the brat yet, nor a welder. nor do i have any way to get a vehicle across the country. at least i have a doner car to pull parts off of when i get the brat im after. i just gotta find a way to convince everyone around me that a brat is a good idea. too many doubters and non beleivers. as for the transmission, will i need any kind of adaptor to bolt it to the engine? and what about the axles, seeing as it is out of a turbo car. -

with my build up, i am trying for atleast 200 p at the wheels, but thats quite a ways down the road. i still need to source all the parts ill be putting into it as well as get the engine and heads machined and the such. whats everyone else putting their built engines into?

thgats almost exactley what my ea82t is in for, but first i need to pull $$$ outta somewhere and then i want to find a brat do transplant it into.not that i can even afford this, but ill sure try.

the first engine i had in it was puking oil like there was no tomarrow into the intake due to a huge chunk of the compression ring being gone. then i got another enigine installed that and got a large coolant leak. i tihnk that hte problem that i am having is that i dont have enough saved up for a car that needs constant work, that and i originally got the car without anything under the hood. i want a brat for a few reasons, one is that the ea81 is very reliable and ive always wanted a bratsince the first time i saw one. idealy, i would love to be able to keep the rx and have it running the way i want and also get a brat and have that running the way i want as well. i originally got the rx for free cause it was taking up space at the garage i worked in. i used it to learn about subarus and how to work on cars. it ran fora while then had some minor electrical issues that prevented it from starting for two months then ran again with more issues. on top of all that, i ran out of money that i had saved wheni quit my job at the garage. im just getting tired of having a second car that i cant even drive right now, id rather have something thats useful till i have enough money to play, now that im working again, i can save up to get my impreza tuned up like i should have about 20k miles ago. actually, its more like 25k but at least i keep it regular with oil. either way, i want a brat, ive been searching for one for over a year now and happened upon one not too far from me, i just need to find a way to get the money for it. id rather have a slow brat than a dead rx sitting in my driveway, at least it would earn its keep and help my mom with her never ending home improvement projects. ill chine back in later, i gotta go see to a few things around town before it gets too late. peace tim c

hmmm, havent a few peoples already converted their brats to ea82 drivetrain and suspension? i dont really want to lift it if i can avoid it, id like to make it more of a rally style set up than an off roader.i want ti to be good for drivein to work on the highway and then i could take it down gravel roads and just tool around town. maybe surprize a few ricers when im done with it. i need to try to aquire a brat now, i dont want to keep dumping money into the rx just to keep it even running, which at the moment isnt happening. keep the ideas flowing. thanks tim c.

would the ea82t cross member bolt into the brat frame??
