  1. thats what i thought about the axles. anyone know it te cups on the axles are interchangable? if anything, when i get a brat, i do want to put in a s spd d/r and lsd from the rx. i guess ill have to wait till i get ahold of a brat to actually take a look at every thing and see what will wor and what wont. im sure i could make it all work, im just not sure how yet. as for the seats, thats most likely going to be the first thing i put into the brat, well, that and the 15" pugs i have on my rx. i spent too much on the tires for that car to just toss em. oh well, i gotta go to work so ill be back later today. peace tim c.
  2. i currently have a rx sitting in my driveway, been having issues with it since i got it. as much as i love the car, i am thinking a bout getting rid of it. i really want to get a brat, but i like the rx, well at least the drive train and suspension. i am thinking about stripping out the car and then getting abrat, then id swap over all the parts i could from the rx that would make an improvement on the brat. id definatley swap over the 5 spd d/r tranny and rear lsd from the rx. id try to swap over the suspension and rims as well. what im trying to figure out now is what else id be able to swap in, idbe eventually trying for the ea82t after a while, once ive saved enough for a proper build up of the engine. what else would i need to take from the rx to get a rx brat?? are the rear brakes able to be mounted on a brat? are the front brakes the same or are they larger from the rx? other than swapping parts over, would i have to fabricate anythng to make it work? and also, after i get the parts ill need from the rx, ill be selling any parts that i ccant use and then selling the shell, hell, id even give it away if the person who wants it would pay for transport. if anyone has any advice or suggestions, let me know. thanks tim c.
  3. another idea i had, just look for the ign. fuse, i think its like a 15 amp fuse, second row down and the third fuse from the left, i think. just pull that out and your car will not start, i found that out the hard way trying to get my rx to run.
  4. you could always hide a switch under the rear seats. that is if you want to make a kill switch for the pump it self.
  5. one of these days, ill get my old engine rebuilt with new parts and then ill get some head work done and then hopefully get my turbo back from my friend. i hope he gets done with it soon.
  6. almost makes me want to get a justy. granted, id lower it and drop in a turboed engine and awd drivetrain.i go rally with it.
  7. think as the 92x as theluxury wrx, its a rather nice car to be honest. i was just looking at some tonight when i went to the dealer with my friend (he drives a chevy s-10). to be honest, i cant wait till the b9 roadster comes out, even if it is a hybrid. just imagine a awd roadster with the sti engine and drivetrain.its gunna be hot.
  8. us financially challenged folks should get together and figure out every inexpensive power adder and performance mod for these cars and start a list or write a book, then we could make some moneys. hmmm, the grand book of elcheapo suby improvements.
  9. if you ever find the book "impreza", there is a picture and some info on the car about halfway through the book. id scan it if i could find the cables for my scanner. it was a decent looking impreza, but i think it could have been done a bit better.
  10. all you really need is the ditsy plug, find one with the same plug as your harness, then there are two screws on the bottom, un screw em and pull the plug out the bottom of the ditsy, do the same on your ditsy andswap the plugs. i had to do that like 4 times in three months. hope that helps/
  11. sooo, anyone want to hook me up with two sets? one for the impreza and one for the rx.
  12. the axle can be dead even if there isnt a bad boot, the boot coulda been replaced when the axle should have been tossed alltogether.
  13. i beleave they would be exterior style. i never noticed that link you have there, shows how much attention i pay to the little things.but either way, ill be getting one from the guy i know, he will make em to fit the windows, front and rear.
  14. i might be able to get some window banners made to fit the old school subies, mainly the sedans. the guy that makes the stuff is a friend of my friend's parents. i think he does it as a home business or something like that. if there is any interest in this he might be willing to make em. i thik he said something like $30 for the front and rear banners, im guessing solid with "subaru" across em. and possibly the old school logo on each side.
  15. one could posibly do it like subarubrat did his radiator, attach it to the hood some how. then cut out above it and mount vents or louvers to direct air flow down into the hood or pull air out the hood. just a thought though, i might snag one if i go to the yard today.
  16. the heads might crack even without the turbo, but the majority of the cracks are in #3, which is where the turbo sits, thus is the hottsest exterior part other than the exhaust ports. if the turbo was on the driver side, we be talking about issues with #4 having cracks. oil coolers and intercoolers will help to make a difference, but only to a certain point. but every little bit helps.
  17. ok, i had to chime in, the subaru factory rx rally car in the 80's was in the ballpark of 250 hp and reliable, but obviosly not stock. this i learned from a guy thats been doing racing and work on subarus since the 70's. the guy also has one of the nicest svx's ive seen in a while. the crack in the heads on #3 is from the added heat of the turbo almost sitting ontop of it. wrx's have been having the same issue since they were release in the us. if the turbo was moved about two inches toward the back of the engine bay, and then insulated from the engine, i think that there would be a lot less trouble with the #3 cylinder.
  18. i have a simular isse, but my leak is on top of the block. i thinki9 mine be the manifold gaskets or a loose hose. and the waterpump.
  19. dude, sweet. i was thinking about s=doing that, but i dont have the brackets to mount the grill on my rx. im prett sure that hte core support wherre the brackets are meant to be isnt the original one from this car.
  20. thatll buff out. glad your ok, looks almost like the damage when i hit a deer in my impreza.
