there is a company that makes a cold air intake for the impreza that has a box that wraps around the piping, you fill the box with ice. i cant remember who made it though. and for turbo cars with an intercooler, there a nitrous company that has a intercooler chiller, it kinda works like a sprayer, but it puts out extreamly cold gas, i think its compressed co2, but it turns frost white and steam coveres the intercooler when you hit the button for it. i think the temps get down to the negatives in the tube that suplies the stuff. i think it might be nx, nitrous xpress, i think the product is called the n-tercooler or something to that tune. heard good reviews from the wrx guys that used it, something like a 50hp boost on a very tuned car. works like nos with out blowing your engine.

id be down for the brakes and such, but im poor at the moment. -
i think that most aftermarket springs are up ther around 4-500 pounds or so. at least the coil overs can be compressed, so to speak, by just winding em down all the way. that should make it really easy to install, first though, i need an inspection so i can get it tagged and on the road. once i get through inspection and emissions, i am going all out on the rx:D .
-
true, they are scary.
-
i wish, the car isnt registered yet, i dont have the gas money, and i dont have time due to school. i htink that you can buy the compressor for like $20 at most parts stores.
-
i dont have the tools to get the spings out, i think i need a compressor for that. and an extra set of handswhy couldnt you guys be out here on the east coast? to be more specific, maryland?
-
just to clear things up, i have a y2k impreza 2.5rs. i think that the shocks should fit any impreza from 93-2001

i never found all the parts for the hill holder when i build my rx, so i didnt put em in. the only problem i am having with it being there is that the hill holder lock the front right brake caliper, until i turn the thing on top of it, then it hisses and releases the brakes. anyone know about fixing this problem? -

im liking this idea. especially seeing as i am into having and making things custom. i dont like having the cookie cutter version of things. -

dude, that sounds like an awsome idea, you have a pm. hmmm, can you make a wide body kit for the rx? with modern stylings too? -
i hate the kids that rice out their subies i go to school with a guy that drives a brand new wrx and says that its just his beater car. his real car, the one he is dumping money into is like a 1989 honda crx. i almost cried when he said that he didnt really like the subaru. id give my left nut if my parents bought me a wrx for a beater car. on a side note, does any one know how to keep rust from spreading when you cant get to the spot its in. like in the frame rail looking section that gets covered by side skirts,
-
you arent alone. i just found even more rust that i missed last time i patched my rx, this time in front of the right rear tire.there is a hole and i can see to the back of the fron fender through it. my front right fender has dents in it from sitting behind a garage for 6 years. the rear fenders are rusting, well the right side any way, i patched the left. i wish i had the money to take it to a body shop and get it fixed right. i guess that when there are nomore replacement parts out there, we might have to start modifiying parts from other/newer cars. i for one think that a pre 2k wrx front bumper would be hot on the rx, as well as the wide front fenders. i know im nuts when it comes to my passion for subaru, new and old. we need to find someone that will make replacement body parts for our cars, and maybe a few custom parts as well

custom header for ea82t
subyrally replied to subyrally's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well, first off, im not that good at welding, and second, i dont have the facilities for manufacturing. i just want a custom header for my rx. i have the borla headers on my 2.5rs and love the way they sound. i looked at the twe headers and cant afford to drop 400 on just a header. besides, i want an unequal length header so it doesnt end up sounding like a honda or some other inline 4.i am going for the boxer sound as well as performance, anything is better than the stock header. when i finish, ill take pics and make copies of the designs and give anyone the info they want on em.if i had the resorces to make me, id sell em really cheap to the forum members. -
custom header for ea82t

oops -
i am thinking about making a custom header for my rx. i am thinking of somethink like the borla header for the 2.2l engine, but with an upppie attached to it that way i dont have to have a bunch of flanges made. that and ill be able to say that i have a cstom header on my car. im thinking that it should givethe car a very obvious boxer sound. http://www.nopionline.com/nopistore/dsp_large_pic.cfm?vpic=L2510983.jpg something like that

dude, nuts. now the real question is, is there any way to keep the wet outta the car? im thinking that a good bead of silicone calking around the frame and doors might could work. -
i used vice grips
-
ill try, i can make a design for it, it will just be up to the guys at meineke to make it seeing as i have no access to a welder or pipe bender. but i have hit yet another brick wall in my project. the guy that was going to sell me a turbo gave it to someone else after he said he would sell it to me. anyone have a turbo that they could sell for less than $100?? i cant afford to pay any more than that for a turbo. any help would be great.
-
i understand, thanks, i hate to send business away from the local machine shop, but at the moment, i am poor. i thin their flanges were like $20 and the machine shop would be about $60 - $80 for the flanges to be made. on second thought, i might just get the inlet flang made and then a custom one peice uppipe/header made. i think ill try making it like the borla headers for my impreza, same routing as the turbo manifolds, but stays seperate till just before the turbo flange. if its done right, it should sound very boxerish.
