  1. i blame it more on engine managment and lack of aftermarket support than anything else. proper tune and care they will make good power for a long time.
  2. all loyales were ea82 and either 2wd or 4wd, not exactly "awd" with this model
  3. that is the mating surfaces of the cam carrier and head. I can't quite imagine how you'd have coolant coming from there. oil, yes, coolant, no.
  4. buy an aftermarket guage, stock is no better than a light. spend a little money now or overheat the system later without any indication and spend alot more. edit: check the coolant hose under the intake aswell
  5. Is that an XT rear air dam infront of the tires?
  6. Oh man, internet high five. I've fought with those things way to much in the past. Like miles said it's so simple no one thought of it. 15324234 internet points to you!
  7. glad im not the only one having an issue. id imagine it will be delt with before too long.
  8. or he forgot he posted something. ive done that with a reply or two. however not on a thread ive started
  9. your engine would be the same as an 85-86 XT after that the intakes totaly changed however the block and heads should be the same to any MPFI non turbo.
  10. I have a cover, as well as a NA flapper style maf.... They're kind of a PITA to find
  11. DING DING DING! thank you! I could not for the life of me remember what car that scoop came off of.
  12. Good thing I got phone dials on mine otherwise I'd feel as tho someone stole my car. lol enjoy your 40mpg! Oh, btw DL differs from the rest of the XT line up by the:unpainted bumpers, no p/s, crank windows, lack of passenger mirror, back seat delete... I think that's it.
  13. search function is handy.... that being said no. you have to use an adaptor plate with the ea flywheel redrilled to bolt on the ej. also up pipe may or may not clear the crossmember but i cant recall at the moment.
  14. best thing you can do is install one of these... that air dam, intake thingy.. not sure which year/model it is but there is one that will fit directly into your car as I had one on my 96OBW
  15. WOW, I'm going to withhold comment but let's drop the drama and focus on the build.
  16. By design. it should be as follows: Some sort of air intake silencer which is a funky looking thing behind the fender well which pretty much makes it quiet, then through the sheetmetal to the air box via a connecting tube, then to the AFM then through the intake tube to the throttle body. there can be improvement to the factory design but where it pulls air from is pretty much the best spot, in front of the fender well behind the fender itself, it in no way at all pulls air from the engine bay.
  17. What on earth are you talking about?? the factory box pulls air from the inner fender well which is CAI. *unless* a PO has mangled that setup. the only thing you've accomplished from your description is allow a greater chance of debris entering the intake while sucking in a whole lotta hot air. unless I miss understood what you did which I seriously hope I so.
  18. Did you cut off the back of the purple cover? and are you color coding them so you know which one is which? lol "oh the red one I blew a rod, but the purple one.... now that's a screamer!"
  19. CHEAP/FAST/RELIABLE Pick 2 you really can't use the terms "as fast as possible" "turbo" "n/a" and "reliable in the same sentence, but go ahead slap a turbo on it, blow it up and repeat Not trying to be negative but you know those Hondas you see around with the BIG FMIC and leaves a smoke trail from every red light..... yea there's a reason for that.
  20. The previous owner before me is most definitely on the forum and I believe wants to hurt me for selling "his" wagon. Oh well what are ya gunna do? I'm sure Ruby will last you quite sometime so long as you keep proper maintenance.
