so i was driving yesterday and took a turn in second gear bearly on the throttle and it sputtered for a second and sped back up, now the thing is now it runs better than ever, and has a high idle, so what gives didnt something unlodge itself from an injector? and how do i get it back down?
-
i stand corrected. i was kinda sorta close tho. lol

that voice is rather disturbing at the end "Subaru 4-W-D"

i believe that ground goes to the valve cover should be a bolt hole towards the front of the vehicle.
-
lmao so true. here's another good one for ya

GL AWD rear CV axle removal problem
rpholz replied to RacingFlyer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if it's on the ground you can throw a jack under the lower control arm and push it back up to get the bolt back in. btw a bigger hammer always works too lol! no the way ive always removed cv's is unbolt the strut put a pry bar in there against the cv and the trans (or diff) and have someone tap it with a hammer to jiggle or jar it loose. they're a PITA but new ones are always nice. -
nah man! thats the new trans subaru came out with engines are old news!

New Loyale owner, any advice?
rpholz replied to capecove's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
welcome to the subaru world! the ea82 is a great lasting engine just search for the "what is your ea82 milage" thread, that with a 5 speed will run forever. and as far as oil never ever trusted a synthetic oil it's all additives, eeks. and once you drive the suby for a lil while you'll forget all about those fords. -
man i think learning that the hard way is a right of passage, i once had a 73 porsche 911T come into a shop i used to work at needed a new exhaust said "ok" every bolt came out nice and easy but that last one snap! ended up having to helicoil it, very unsatisfing doing that luckily it came back for a complete rebuild so we weilded the head up and retapped it. as for the head gaskets, dont let it overwhelm you, that's when you start screwing up, just take it one bolt at time, taking note of where everything went, how it came apart. once you get down to block clean and replace and reasemble just as it came apart and dont worry time is cake, plenty of post on it. i even have a print out on timeing from "All Tech" very descriptive, if you'd like me to scan and post it for you.

lol removing components will not fix anything only fixing the problem will or tapping on the light pretty heavily to make it either burn out or fall out lol! (worked on my buddies mustang ("brakes? tap tap TAP brakes are fixed") id search the site for the ecu location and the connector location to pull the codes, it's probly nothing serious just make sure it's got oil and not knocking and your good!

sometimes i wish it was a carburated, so much easier to work with. as for the bumpers i dont think i could ever get the color to match exactly which would bug the piss out of me. and i'm gunna keep it stock till i find a job then its ej22t time! i've got big plans for it just not the budget to support it lol(isnt that always the case?) as for mpg im averaging 35 with a mix of around town and highway driving (my honda didnt get that much!) btw anyone know where i can find a backseat for this thing?! DL models didnt come with one. or a passenger mirror either appently:-\ or rear disc brakes, woohoo for base model options!

how many cans of spray paint will i need?
rpholz replied to bicycle_ben's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hmm buy the good paint not the .94 cent paint besides the good paint seems to last longer, and you will definatly need 18 cans (precise calculation, lol) and definatly a popular idea seen a car like that on youtube. considered it for mine too but just went with the back window graphic. it's gunna look sick when its done. -
awsome job! looks like a factory piece.

well i know that electric fan only kicks on when the a/c is on so i think it might be vise versa
-
yes it is a dl...unfortinatly. but the gas milage is rediculous so the lack of power is tolerated for now. and the clutch fan is stock so i took the a/c fan from a gl-10 so they wouldnt look mismatched, helps with smoother acceleration and gas milage... at least it seems that way to me lol. thanks for all the comments!

so this is my 86 mpfi fwd xt what do you think for 225 cash and a crappy .22 rifle? the only thing i have done is add the STI and graphic on the back, changed the fluids, and got a a/c fan out of the junk yard to replace the clutch fan (i like the stock look) also replaced the muffler with a cherrybomb i have the sound clip for that as well so whatcha think!?

so i know the last post was a month ago but! im pretty sure at :25 in the video i heard the turbo rip a hole in the space time continuum!! :eek:lol on a serious note. neat car but that is about it, i'd rather take that money and own 1 05 STI and about 1.5 million old subys!!

Rust repair,radius rod mount
rpholz replied to ivantruckman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
lol i once had a range rover with absolutely no floors except some 2x4's and plywood. i lost so much out of the floor of that truck but as stated in the begining there are people out there just toooooo broke to buy something that's 100% perfect. besides whats the fun in that? good luck man! glad to see someone taking the extra steps to keep a suby on the road! -
id have to agree with ^^^^^^ check all of those first and report back frequently for the best amount of help. and kudos on the firing order diagram! lol

i know the subaru dealership sells "bg" 44? it suposibly stops oil leaks. might want to try that first. as far as oil leaks on the head/valve area, never done a head gaskets on a suby but i have on plenty of older porsches(well they use copper rings but dissasembly is similar). its a pain and no fun.

i used a 10mm bolt with a pair of visegrips when i didnt have a 10 allen. also i couldnt get the bolt of the crank of my xt so i placed a breaker bar and socket on the bolt and rest it on the inner fender and bumped the motor. so i guess the motor was a impact gun for .199 seconds of its life:banana:
