  1. I had a valve grind on .the right (cylinder 1 and 3) on my 86 xt turbo (EA82). The #1 intake valve was not seating properly. After reinstalling and puttting in the coolant water, it leaked out of a hole on the rear (head is on right). The hole is manufactured as I have another one that has the same holes, but this now leaks water. I guess, I will have to remove this head again and send it back to the machine shop. But I would like to know what is happening.
  2. Subaru XT sensor question. I have a 4 cylinder 1986 XT with the EA82 engine. I am having starting and smooth idle problems and noticed a sensor with partially exposed wire. But neither the Haynes, Chilton or Subaru manual describes what I am looking at. The sensor screws into the engine behind the intake manifold and adjacent to the drivers side about 1 inch of the throttle cable. There are two wires one red the other blue coming out of this cylindrical device. I suspect it is an oil sensor, but the regular oil pressure sensor is in the front of the engine as described. Also, if you know what this is - can it cause the engine to not start and/or idle roughly?

  3. What us the CTS and how do you un-plug it? this sounds worthy of trying.
  4. My Subaru XT has the same symptoms. I looked over all the systems including changing out the ECM and Distributor. I had the local dealer's mechanic look it over (2 hours of labor cost) and he could not find a problem. Of course he could not start it on a regular basis. I noticed yesterday, when trying to start it that the fuel pump seems to have a surging sound. I am wondering if the fuel pump can act erratically?
  5. I am thinking that jargon is hard to figure out. Would a "disty" be a distributor? My EA-82T cuts out when I push the acclerator hard toward the floor and then it starts running ok when I back off. If I ease up on the accelarator the engine runs up to higher rpms. Any thoughts?
  6. Turbor water cooling line leaks. I have tried for hours to loosen the clamp screw of the water line hose under the Turbo. The front hose that attaches to a 90 degree metel tube and comes out toward the wheel well is the one giving me the problem. Does anyone have a method of removing and replacing the hose. Also, if this requires removal of the turbo unit, then some advice on it's removal and where I could have it checked out would be very nice
