  1. My '03 forester XS lost it's front Diff this way, the crazy thing happened was I was already about 5 miles on the road when the wine started.. so I pulled off the exit nearest the dealer I was going too, I went about 1,000 Ft and just as I was leaving from a stop light with the lightest amount of throttle the front diff exploded.. I have the pictures around someplace. Long story short the front diff case on the 4EAT cracked and the driveshaft popped out a little.
  2. lol I just had to laugh when I saw it missing, I know people watched me drop the engine in with the lift, one of the workers at the apartment owns a WRX so at first they did not know who's engine lift that was chained up, but he was telling me that he told his boss I think I know the owner of the lift is. At least they saved me a run to the dump lol, I still gotta get the 25d shortblock out of the wagon, I just don't feel like messing with it at the moment (making wrist pin puller) and so on
  3. yeah it does, in my case the low end really picked up which was lacking because of my current compression ratio, you can really feel that I regained some low end back it tapers off around 3500.
  4. Installed the UEL headers today funny thing was someone stole my stock headers, I put them down in the snow in front of my car facing away from the apartments, and I came back like 10 min later after warming my hands and they were gone! LOL OH well saves me the hassle of getting rid of them. Anyways you can feel the lower end torque now and sounds good. Ran out of daylight to rotate my tires and fix the timing on the passenger exhaust, also I do have to replace the valve cover gaskets again it's leaking at a good enough rate that I need to keep up with the oil levels.
  5. So first of all I will say before I swapped engines I already replaced the knock sensor with the ebay one, it was taken off the Ej25 with no codes and no issues, so I put it on the ej22 and not soon after I got a code for it.. So sometimes it would go for maybe 125 miles with no code.. and the most recent I had my scan monitor running and as I was getting on the ramp the car lost a bunch of power and I saw the timing was pulled to 8 degrees, then went back to around 45 degrees. Now to be safe I got another new knock sensor but seeing as the ebay one was not cracked when I took it off seems a bit odd?
  6. yeah a lot of those new cars don't have tow hooks anymore but those screw in tow hooks behind a little opening on the rear bumper.
  7. This one hits the hood as well, I think it's a ebay one.
  8. I need to get a strap with a D-ring 2 years ago I made about $50 I was going to get a ARB just because of the color and it would be easy to spot if it walked off somehow.
  9. Nice! Yesterday I took the car on one of it's first longest drive after the transplant, went to Hartford and that was a good 87 miles one way, a friend was going to give me all these parts for free since he knew I was building my engine up, pretty nice of him since i saved a bunch of money, I had the same headers on my '95 Legacy but it got totaled so I knew pretty much the headers were no good after that.
  10. Geez that was quick.. lol yes it's the same but the threaded center part is what's different. Make sure you don't over tighten it!
  11. So my knock sensor code must of been for old fuel, the fuel in the car was about 4 months old.. I did at some point in time add 4 gal of fuel but no set time.. It's been about 200 miles now after fresh fuel and the knock sensor code has not come back, also I fixed the EVAP system code by cutting the proper length vacuum hose and that was it!
  12. Another video with a wider view, and a few acceleration runs
  13. lol I never knew they had 1st gen postal wagons ever time I see the car I just think so many people would want that car to do a swap on ha
  14. haha nope it's a 2nd gen RHD Legacy, I see the guy every so often around the area you don't see very many RHD Legacy's around here so they really stick out, just as I stick out with my yellow outback foglights and HID JDM projector headlights.
  15. Video of a little drive
  16. Yes I have I was getting a code for the knock sensor which I don't know if it's because the gas was 4 months old.. when I moved the knock sensor over it had no cracks and prior to my motor giving out it was already two years old and the ebay sensor kind.. Now I just filled up with fresh fuel so I haven't seen it come back on yet, this morning when it was around 6 F outside I saw it finally went to 90 PSI, but as you see in the video the oil pressure pretty much rises and falls with the rpm, I have a slight coolant leak on the top of the motor, I hope it's not where I put the helicoil in because a little bit of the spring was not laying flat at the time
  17. Did a video for you haha
  18. the wire colors are black & white so it did not take long but man soldering outside when it's 20 F was tricky..
  19. These are the gaskets I used http://www.rallysportdirect.com/symbolic_link.cfm?symbolic_link_text=Cometic-Head-Gasket-EJ22ET-MLS-98MM-051-Subaru-Legacy-Sport-1991-1994
  20. So I was cranking my new installed motor first without plugs or injectors, then I added them both and it still did not want to start.. so I said hmm, so I go and make sure my connections were good and I noticed the damn connector that plugs to the crank sensor the wires snapped right off of it! Has this happened to anyone else? I want to splice on another connector ( have a spare manifold here) but I need to know the correct pinout reading around it seems like I'm not the only one this happened to.. it seems between 95 and 97 they still used the same wire color which is white and blue.. in the case of the wires it's a solid blue and a white striped blue wire
  21. About to start the motor up! Btw that HF motor stand was scary! no way I would put 750 lbs on it.. the ej22 hybrid had me a little nervous to rotate it
  22. It seems I might of made one of the hoses too short so it won't reach the other connection to the pressure sensor on the passenger side. . It's it going to be a idle issue until I can go to the store and get another hose?
