  1. When I put the 17 wheels on I might see where it's at highest I ever been was 110 and I did not feel the car slow down unlike my 98 forester.. at about 118 mph you felt the speed limiter kick in.
  2. I did everything 100% what my FSM said.. for the front seal oiled the ring with fresh oil and I drove it in straight with a very large axle socket. Then again I was not in a rush when I did it..
  3. I was not aware my car had a speed limiter.. I never wanted to hit those speeds with the stock 14" wheels
  4. So that's the ABS connector to get the codes from? man all the other FSM said a black plug near and under the steering column and I was trying to tell people I don't see anything like that. Going to have to check after work.
  5. About this rear main seal.. what makes it more prone to leak then the front main seal? I replaced my front seal some 9 or 13K miles ago and no leaks.. now I know the rear baffle plate is leaking which I do have the part in my closet right now but I also picked up a new rear main seal. is most of the leaks because people fail to drive it in the right way?
  6. Hmmm interesting... never heard of cracks in the wires and at 50,000 miles.
  7. Like he said it's based off the final drive and if it's a manual or not.. Not a WRX/STI engine as you said.. For your info at 80 MPH in my car I'm at near 4K rpms.
  8. I painted it black plus I had a left over can for two years.. My wheels will be gunmetal so it should look ok. and in the oven they go.. I'm sure not needed but want to make sure they are done.
  9. yeah I already painted as you can see here.. just put the 2nd coat on (argh I put my gloves on AFTER I already tagged myself..) I used Rust oleum ultra high heat good for 1200F I will be getting my wheels next week so good to get a head start.
  10. I know a ramp in Norwalk, CT it's so short for an on ramp on the parkway... I think it's less then 120 Ft.. plus I think it has a yield sign as well... it was downright scary in my 1.8L in the 2.2L not so bad.. when I had the forester XS not bad. One issue I have is friken drivers who speed up in the first lane so you can't get on... I had to give a guy with new york plates the finger last week.. I was already going up the onramp (now this one is long nearly 800 Ft) by the time I was level with the roadway and about to merge (turn signal and all) my speed was about 65-ish.. this guy tires to out run me in the first lane but had to stop because of the slower car in the first lane which I slowed down to but he was on his horn... Now get this.. and I'm still confused over this.. the middle lane was open and free..... Same reason why I don't drive on 284 when it rains out.. you will always see one car spun off the road.
  11. rotors are finally here question as you know most rotors already have a crosshatch pattern on them do I still need to scuff them up a little bit? Rear disc Also some people paint the hubs is that just to prevent rust or looks or both?
  12. man with looking at that tie rod that wheel bearing must be shot?
  13. wow I had a 95 Impreza that had a EJ18 and it was underpowered I would never dream of putting it in the Legacy.. matter of fact when I got the Legacy the extra power was welcomed... It was crazy the fact that when I was out doing a gig with 300 lb of equipment in the tunk and back seat and a 250 lb passenger in the passenger seat it was a pain to get up to speed.
  14. something like this almost happened to me early this year.. I was home and in my PJ's when the police came to my door asking if I owned the 95 Subaru and I said yeah.. and he just flat out said someone just hit your car.. I was like like are you friken serious? lucky for me the Honda next to me too 99% of the blow which tore her rear bumper off and all I was left with is a stuff mark.. I did take pictures but they never found the guy.. took right off.
