See if I get replacement heads wont they need to be sent to the shop first before I put them on? meaning having the heads machined? I can get heads for like $75 each.. the weather gods love me so it's going to rain about everyday but Sunday.. I would still be switching to a Ej22 at a later date. The good thing is I can remove the engine a lot faster then I did before for the first time.

Long story short I had a timing belt that stretched and I locked the ties up without clutching in (jay walker with child walked 10 ft in front of my car at 10 MPH) and my car lost power and stalled. Well I got the new belt on and set up right and it still idles very rough, and given how the exhaust note sounds, it sounds like the exhaust valve is not fully closed.. you be the decider. Now I have a few questions, I'm at the point where I was thinking about getting a Ej22 for a project for next year, I assume I need a Automatic Ej22E because it has the EGR, and it's a drop in replacement? OR take the EJ25 out and inspect the passenger side head and see what damage I have.. OR.... Get the EJ22 anyways and put it in and look over the EJ25 at a later time? and before you ask... Yes the cams are set correct.

Holy crap you are not going to believe what happened this morning, I was driving along a two lane road coming up to a light and a women and her child decides NOT to cross at the cross walk but between cars, I had no time to clutch in so I just hit the brakes to the point where I almost locked up, so when I eased off and went back on the throttle the car sounded like it was missing bad.. Long story short the car died and it sounded like I loss compression (I did) on the passenger side.. turns out the cams for that side must of jumped like 5-10 teeth, I was like WTF... all I can say is it must of been belt slack, I wont rule the rubber gasket that I saw somehow laying on the tooth side of the belt right near the crank sprocket.. I heard no odd sounds other then the lack of compression because the cams were off, I'm glad I had my tools with me, When I put the belt back on for just getting home I have some crazy rough idle, again 1 & 3 I might of been off again since I was more in a rush to get out of meter parking, just glad I was on level ground and it took almost no effort to get the car moving off the main road. So I just ordered a Gates timing belt on Amazon using my prime membership which will be here tomorrow it could of been far worse.. the longest part was having to walk to home depot because I left my other C-clamp at home...

Why do people rely so heavily on compression braking?

Good to see I'm not the only one that does this.. It's true it works but I've had people cut in front of me because I'm slowing down because I'm looking 4 car lenths AHEAD with the brake lights coming on, it's amazing some people only look as far as the front hood of the car.. About 4 months ago here in town from a friken block away I saw the road was blocked off for party.. It was amazing the same car that was beside me got all the way up to it then had to turn around and go the same way I went.. I just had to shake my head. But yes you have to watch for others when slowing down with no brakes. -

one thing I noticed between the EJ22 and EJ25 is the Ej25 I don't have as good compression braking because the flywheel is a bit heavier, I think it's around 22-25 Lb vs whatever the EJ22 flywheel is, it's noticeable when shifting between gears how the rpms are being held. yes I know this is an old thread but found it when searching for a rear view mirror thread -
rearview mirrors with Compass and temperature sensors

Finally found this thread!!! My damn mirror fell off today, it was hot and I hit a pretty large bump and it fell right down onto my hand I was like ^&^%#$*( After all that last summer.... It did no damage when it fell off, the good thing is now I can put a darker color button on now instead of that shiny silver one.. any tips? I mean before I used two drops instead of the one they said because that stuff wont hold with just one.. Do I need the extreme rear view mirror stuff? -
Yep this happened on my friends 2002 Forester, replaced the radiator and I had my Torque app running and I said to him by 208 F the fans should kick in.. well they did not so a few min later I was seeing temps of like 230F and I was like we have to shut it down now we have air in the system.. I cracked the lower hose and refilled again at the top and after that it was fine. Btw I was filling with the car running but I guess it was a huge air bubble.
