lol something that needs to get scrapped.. as soon as I pull out the speed sensor and two switches I'm ditching the case but just keeping the front diff and selling the center diff to a friend. Funny thing is I was looking at it and just spinning the center diff with your finger you can feel it getting a little stiffer, I thought it would of taken something a little faster in rotation. The funny thing is how can 5th be so clean shaven off like that but the gear below is untouched?

it's much harder if you don't have a transmission jack.. Oh btw here's pictures of the old transmission and what those metal bearings where.. and why my car never had 5th gear when I picked it up.. I swear I never seen a gear look that clean ripped off.. those bearings came from here the weight dry is pretty much what everyone said wow...

transmission is in and it sounds good! having 5th gear really helps on the highway now! The new shifter kuncle is great as well as the new bushings on the stay rod.. Sometimes a little too good! as first and third can feel like they are almost in the same position. Since I have a spare on I was unable to check higher speeds.

This happened to me yesterday.. it was like 1 inch from being flush.. but the funny thing was I was careful to make sure it was not going to crossthread.. Mine is on the passenger side.. this is the only thing that has me pissed off.. it really clunks during the 2-3 shift. So what's the thing to do drill a hole with a hole saw and replaced the nut?

crap you can't edit your posts after awhile here.. Anyways I took out the old tranny and I looked at the fork and guess what I saw? a crack that started right where it meets the ball on the transmission case.. Lucky for me the replacement transmission came with a clutch fork. I did forget that ground cable and ended up snapping it, I might have some spare wire and ring terminals. Two people today just came up to me while I was working saying they were impressed wasn't expecting that. Also I took the old transmission down to the work table and as soon as I sit it down on it's side I heard a bunch of bearings inside.. plus turning both drive axles it sounds really really nasty. After I get the transmission in tomorrow I will be taking apart the old transmission since I'm curious of what ever happened to 5th gear and I want to see what that metal part was.. OH I checked my rear main out.. I don't know it did not seem to be leaking but the whole transmission bellhousing smelled like old gear oil, old enough that it turned like a greyish looking color that must of been that smell I had. mounted the TOB on the replacement clutch fork My first time doing these clips I had the biggest hard time.. plus it was like 10 Pm and dark out.. Took the plate off because I wanted to be sure it was sealed well old and replacement (alum. oxide worked great) this crap was all over the place I ended up btw using moly lube instead of white lithium grease this time only because it's a tad bit thicker.

You know since I just pulled the tranny out I don't think my rear main is leaking.. not 100% sure yet since I gotta get the clutch cover off and stuff but the stuff that is soaked and looks greyish looking is the transmission bellhousing inside.. the lower tranny bolts are soaked in the greyish fluid.. I smelled it but it really has no strong smell.. but it does not seem to be the color of oil? I know this old transmission they ran it without any transmission fluid until crap started binding.. I think it took like 2 flushes to get the fluid to finally stay in the transmission. given it's wetness I'm 85% sure it might be the front seal of the tranny. nevertheless I got this for the real main if I need it oh and the rear part

Now that I have the whole exhaust out it does not look aftermarket but that center pipe does not look factory.. one part of the flange already snapped and the rest did when I went to carry it to the basement. it looks brittle between the front headers and the first cat.. I'm not going to touch that right now until next month and I have a 2nd rear cat I'm going to put in but for some reason the doughnut gasket is a tad larger then a stock Subaru one. I'm guessing Napa has doughnut gaskets stock by size in MM? if that's the case I will take a measurement instead of having to bring the cat to the place.

^ what he said about the EJ205 while I had my motor out doing headgaskets, this guy across the street from me (impreza wrx owner) asked me to come take a look at this block that was in the basement since he did not know which model it came from.. sure enough it was a EJ205 but with like 2 pistons removed and just the rods in the block.. Having said that man are those pistons super small compared to the ej25d

^ how high does yours climb? I only saw my car legit climb up maybe a little more then half way once but that's because I was hauling about 340 lb's of sound equipment. Also back before I did my HG turning on the AC would make it overheat that much quicker because of the condenser in front of the radiator throwing out more heat.
