    Jack stands

Yeah they should help out big time

    Jack stands

My frame rails are already screwed up from the last owner.. speaking of that I wonder if it's possible to bend them back so I can at least use the stock jack in the front safely? having said that I picked up the HF jacks with the jack covers so it should help a bunch, nice thick rubber.
  3. dumb question but given this is the first time this has been removed (bolt from shift linkage) is it going to be hard to get off? I'm guessing if I can remove it I can only get to it after I slipped off the linkage from the shift rod? What's the replacement size anyways?
  4. I can't say about the crossmember but I asked kartboy will the rear bushing fit on my 97 Outback and they said yes.

    Jack stands

That's where I always placed them but then again I was only lifting 16" I just wanted to make sure that was the most sturdy part since I have to back pieces away from the car.

    Jack stands

I got these jack stands from HF the max lift is 24" I haven't raised my car up this high but should I still place them on the frame rails when removing the transmission?
  7. hah something like that happened to me on another project.. hand slipped and got into the palm lucky me it just nicked it.
  8. in my case I don't think I went in far enough.. we will see this coming week.
  9. Hmm I can't find anything saying you can't drive on the beach at night I mean not that I would want to do that much.. last thing you need to do is get caught by high tide. I plan on walking the beach should be nice and dark near the water.
  10. I will keep that all in mind hopefully on the day I go it's clear since it should be nice.. I wonder how the beach is at night.
  11. ^ lol people put so much thought into that.
  12. I was bored and wanted to shoot with this HF powder to see how it was plus gave me something to do while the weather was nice but holy crap you win with that transmission lol... My current one puked all over the crossmember once and I remember after cleaning it up and all and I went to step on it I almost ended up falling in the engine bay.
  13. lol allllmost forgot about that spring pin today.. well yesterday night just as I was headed to bed I was like crap gotta get the spring pin.. dealer did not have it so I have to wait until Monday.. does it come with the large and small pin in one bag? I only walked out with a new rear main seal and that was it. As for the forester transmission I figured I would just clean up some areas so I stripped as much rust as I could from the access plate where the center diff is and for the rear tailhouse extension I took a lot of rust off that and I used some touch up spray (a bit too runny) to give it a somewhat gold look.. The access cover I powder coated with some matte black, I can say one thing it sure does look better then before I started I also sealed it with RTV grey. After that I used the air gun to clean bits of the case that had damp sand or dust. Next week rain or shine the transmission goes in! btw I went to home depot today and I could not for the life of me find a solid block of wood that was like maybe 4-5 inches tall.. most of it was like flat boards.
  14. Cleaned my transmission cover and got rid of the rust on both the cover and the transfer case where the driveshaft connects, the paint I used was a bit too runny I should of known when it said touch of paint. I powder coated the top cover matte black. before picture
  15. I guess you are talking to me? my first one was from Fel-pro and the 2nd one I have is from Subaru.. they look the same as expected but the price was the same after shipping so I just picked it up at the dealer.
  16. Quick question last time I used my RTV was last year in Aug it was the one with the squeeze tube.. Anyways how do you unclog the flow control tip (can't think of the right word)
  17. Doing this this time around last time I used a pretty thin plastic cup with the same diameter but it must of not been seated all the way oil loss was substantial also with smoke coming from the hood.
  18. Thanks did not know that I ended up picking up the seal today while waiting for the order of the spring pin to come in.
  19. Curious how you think the feel is afterwards as I want to do this later in the year.. and yes FINALLY no more rain at least until Monday.
  20. is wife is nabbing him and I guess he wants to do it this Sunday, I'm going to guess it takes less effort to get off then the front? Her car is pretty much rust free under the car and has about 92K.
  21. Does anyone know if home depot gives a way scrap pieces for free of wood? I need to get my car up high enough for the stands.
  22. oh I heard about 120-125 for the manual.. Not sure why I was thinking 300 Lb lol
  23. How much does a 4EAt weigh anyways? I can pick up my 5MT with no problems.. i saw a 4eat at a scrap yard last week but did not bother to try and lift it.
