  1. As far as I can remember it only happens in gear when the car is moving but not on the throttle and coasting. I don't think it mattered how the clutch was as long as the car was coasting off throttle you would hear it but as soon as you got back on it stopped.. I will know for sure when I go back to see him on Saturday.
  2. Just wanted to update to say that so far it's been fine must of been the corrosion around the terminals (I picked up some marine) and after I cleaned them off it's been good.
  3. Oh crap lol I did not know I started this thread lmao.. This car is loooong gone but like it has said before it had a TSB about a faulty relay that got stuck.
  4. For a 95 Just pull the fuse under the fuse panel under the dash. I never had problems with it unless I make it activate on purpose.
  5. Yeah I figured that much I gotta make a note to stop at the dealer to pick one up.
  6. So it's ok to bang the stud out? I keep hearing other people saying it's not ok and some say its ok but don't go crazy. I figure heat and some kroil should be enough if it ever happened to be stuck.
  7. As I was going around a corner I saw my lug fly off to the left so I pulled over when I got out of the corner and I see how it snapped still a bit of thread left but it's still gone. From what I hear you can't remove the stud before the ABS tone ring is in the way? As far as removing it does heat work?
  8. Not that I know of.. I don't know when he's last did a fluid change.
  9. I have a friend who is asking about his 5 MT on decel you can feel a thumping sound in the steering wheel and it goes away on accel.. However the gearbox makes like a sound that's hard to describe that sounds like a bearing noise but not a whining sound but deeper but coming from the transmission box.
  10. yeah search on NASIOC I know they have a few threads on people who ran them.
  11. The best thing was after I bolted it back down it felt as good as after I bled it and changed the clutch nice and firm. way better then my old snapping cable haha the hydraulic is way more consistent in feel
  12. Wow I was driving today and went to downshift and my clutch pedal was on the floor.. so I was like what the heck.. pulled over and sure enough my slave cylinder moved sideways so that the pin was almost out and only one bolt was still in.. Anyways I put it back on with factory ratings.. But that must of been that click sound I was hearing when I would clutch in.. it must of been moving the body of the slave cylinder on the bolt. Good thing I had the tools in the back.. only pulled over for like maybe like 8 Min and that was it.. Shocking I did not have a huge loss of fluid.
  13. I blocked the free piston with a half broken brick so when I gave it air it only moved about 1 mm outward. I heard the grease gun is another way to remove it but I don't own one of those lol. The dual piston feels better as far as how it feels when it slows to a stop. And yes I gave the the one as a core with the piston still stuck out.. it's going to be SEP. Also using DOT 3 right now I'm going to fully upgrade the brakes next week
  14. The caliper repair kit? Rock auto.. It was this one.. DORMAN Part # D351458 I just had a look and every one of them says Outback but only for like '00 to '02 But says Legacy from '90 to '02 As soon as I pulled it out of the box I was like this ring is huge.. I don't think it's worth my hassle to return them.. Anyone know what repair kit does fit a 97 OBW?
  15. I'm starved so I'm going to make this short (been working on it since 5 PM) I had to go get a reman caliper long story short I got one piston to pop out but the other one (stuck) I went all the way up to 125 PSI and it still would not pop out.. had a bunch of surface rust on it. Part of what took so long is I went to powder coat the pad bracket and later I will get around to doing the caliper as well. Also that rock auto caliper repair kit WTF.. it said outback 56 mm bore.. that O-ring was way too big.. like 5-6 mm bigger in diameter then the piston it's self.. and just to think I ordered 4 of them :-/ pictures when I get back.. Wendy's to the rescue!
  16. One thing is what is the point of the brake hone if the piston slides on the large O-ring? My seals came in today So I'm debating if I want to do it now before it starts raining but then again I've worked in the rain putting the engine back in without a cover over the car.
  17. ended up getting the caliper repair kit.. Since I'm going to be doing this I might as well blast them and powder coat them. I know I have some shots of the calipers I took before but I can't find them at the moment.
  18. I have an idea on how it's done but one thing I do have a question about.. my guess this car was from a salt state but it has some light rust on the inner part of the piston face that hits the pad the inside should be fine right? What does one do to clean out the inside? I'm thinking about doing a repair kit the pistons are failing to retract so they keep full force on the pads in which wears them down a decent amount. before anyone asks yes I checked the sliding pins and they are fine the bracket it's self moves fine it's just the pistons don't retract right.
  19. Yeah but the transmission I thought the bearing cups had to come off unless I'm mistaken. having said that since talking about the transmission I wonder if I should buy some seals for the axles and I know I need one for the input.
  20. I will have it tested but it's of an unknown age and was deep cycled many of times.. it was dead when i went to test drive the car.. smart me decided to bring my jump pack with me. as we all know this type is not meant to be deep cycled.
