Hmm the overheat might of did it At least it happened before I took a long trip. I really wanted the Koyo radiator but I could not wait the long shipping times.. Anyone know what the bolt size is for the radiator fans? I only have just one holding in the passenger side one because all the others snapped off on the other one.. I don't want to guess.. And while i'm on that you know the wire harness for the radiator plugs and all the runs behind the fans? Well it seems like the last owner broke the clips that it plugs into, so it just hangs down and I have nothing to support the center part of it. -

Got it thanks, how rare is it to have one of the plastic end tanks to crack open? The radiator. Is as old as the car -
I have a question since I was following info on a newer Outback maybe it held more but anyways I decided to buy antifreeze and mix distilled water myself.. How much coolant does a 97 Outback hold anyways? I did not get close near 2 gals like on outback.org And since it seems advance auto seems to have a sale on a 50/50 mix draining the system looks like I'd still need two bottles right? I think the system is something like 6.5 quarts?

Crap I think my radiator finally went bad.. (not related to the T-stat) but I was like why does it smell like smoke is following me then I saw my temp climbing in the car and I was like Ah crap not again, but I looked under the car and it seems to be leaking where the cooling fans screw to the radiator.. What a weird spot to leak... And to think about it I was going to replace the radiator when I did the HG's but I decided last min not to do so..

As you know from the other thread my car is having some ignition issue as in jumping to 0 degrees for timing most of the time it happens in the same 1500-2500 RPM range but I had it happen yesterday while downshifting driving up to a stop light, I use torque on my phone with a alarm that goes off whenever timing hits 0 degrees. Now Before I just go buying the sensor I will be replacing my plug wires but I don't have any codes for the crank or cam sensors.. I do have a sound file from the exhaust end of the car http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ODWV4HJZ I can't remember how many seconds in to it but you can for sure hear the timing get down to 0 degrees by the sound of the engine/exhaust.

This is weird and I never thought about it until I was looking up my timing issue.. I was showing a screen shot of my coolant temp and someone was saying it was a little on the low side for the car after a 30 min drive. It was around 174-179F but sometimes it will hit 203F But yesterday was interesting it was humid but about 80 F out and I had just recharged the AC and I held the car at 1500 RPMS and I was looking at the coolant temp and again I never really saw it go over 180 F The weird thing is on the highway it seems to heat up to normal pretty normal and all. I tested the thermostat before I put it in the car and all and it opened like the stats say it should.

Wanted to say I finally got around to charging the system yesterday I replaced the dryer at the same time for reference the pressure switch is 27 mm. replaced the O-rings and that was it.. I did a hour for the vacuum pull and waited 10 min for any change of loss of vacuum which was none, I did the part of the charge filling the high side with liquid by inverting the can did that till it got to 20 Psi, then I did the rest on the low side for vapor (valve pointed up) and I filled with two cans (23 oz) Now I don't have the book in front of me but I took two temps ambient air temp was around 80 F and air out of the vents was 53 F Which seems to be about right.

Exhaust studs

the studs are fine and I had no issues putting the Y pipe back on.. which really does not matter since next month I'm taking it off to put something else on. They all have that odd notch or whatever on the flange I'm not sure if it came like that from the factory or what. -

I installed the untreaded section down -
So I came back from a drive and guess what.. it's still doing it! I'm glad I still changed it. Anyways so I ran torque on the phone to look at the timing when it happens and it seems (still need to check) the timing seems to dip as low or almost to 0 degrees.. I would of had a screen shot but I guess the phone froze since I had it set to do 5000 datapoints However the next one I will do will be the timing. O2 sensor and engine rpm. And now that I said that I know endwrench had some thing about how some legacys, impreza in the 97-99 model years that had some bad programming on the ECU which made the ECU think it was sensing knock when it really was not.
