  1. I was like %^$^$(& then the knock sensor bolt fell down next to the hole.. lucky I had a 10 inch long screwdriver and I pushed the bolt out from the side of the motor until I could reach it. I was going to wash the car today but we are having thunderstorms tonight.. maybe Friday..
  2. replaced the knock sensor on the EJ25 took me long enough.. the SOHC motor was far faster to change it out.
  3. I checked my scanner after I cleared my knock sensor code and I saw I had a pending code for yet again # 3&4 but not yet enough to turn on the CEL again.. So next is plug wires and from that on I will figure something out.
  4. going to try and remove it today with airtools
  5. yeah I keep track of the plugs myself.. they all look normal.. but wires will need to be replaced anyways since the wire pulled out of the plug for #4.. I was able to save it but everyone always uses those cheap rump roast plugs with the red boots same happened on my 95 Legacy and that had a SOHC which was painless to do.. I'm hoping when I take a little drive out tonight and tomorrow I can see if it had any effects on the misfires. i changed the PCV yesterday as well
  6. my bad I just noticed that's for cylinder 1 that plug came from.. I replaced the other 3 today I will check to see if the misfire codes come back again.. Also I noticed before I did the other 3 plugs I was starting to get some very bad hesitation off the line until about 1800-2000 rpms.. Now I did a quick drive but I did not notice it back but I'm not going to rule out having to replace the o2 sensor as well.
  7. I'm still waiting on my knock sensor (today or tomorrow) So that's what the CEL is in the video.. Anyways I've noticed for the past 4 days or so the car has been really iffy when leaving from lights, from idle to about 1800-2000 rpms.. At first I thought it was me and trying to get used to the hydo clutch but I got curious and when at a light and in neutral I went WOT and I heard it stumble, and a little and a what sounded like a car running rich by the pop sound from the exhaust. I don't notice this when leaving for work in the morning but more after it warms up. If it's anyone's guess the oxygen sensor looks stock.. I'm going to put my oscilloscope on it to see if I can see if it's really lagged or not. at around 44 secs here you can hear the exhaust pop
  8. hah I'm on my evo here quick question does your text type out slow here? Anyways here is the link for the test other then the brake booster hose. You can use any other vac line other then the hose that runs to the brake booster.
  9. The reading in the video? Or the new one I took?
  10. Brake booster has a check vavle in it thats why my reading was off
  11. Does this hose have a check valve in it? (heard it at outback.org That might explain why my vacuum readings were so high? If I can't use that then where else can you check for vacuum?
  12. I just checked the engine vacuum seems good I used the brake booster line hmm my PCV needs to be changed too..
  13. Im going to check the o2 sensor its never been changed
  14. I dont want copper plugs in because the dohc is no fun to change
  15. So whatever was the outcome for this? I have a 97 outback and I have a knock sensor code and I have a misfire on cylinder 3 & 4 My knock sensor should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.
  16. well So like I said I only changed one plug for the time being until monday at least.. I changed all the plug wires around and I still had a misfire on Cly 3 & 4 So here is the plug from the cylinder 3 So now next would be to do the wires then checking the coil pack? Perhaps I'm getting it because of the knock sensor? I know people say its unrelated and I have my plug wires pushed down in the clips making sure they are not near the injector wires. wow lots of threads around here about the misfire issue.. so many things like.. 02 sensor crank angle sensor injectors..
  17. Thank you for bringing this back up I know for sure I should be getting a free seatbelt mine looks bad.
  18. hmm it seems like you really need two ujoints lol.. So I got the one with the one attached to the socket when I noticed it went in so deep. I have two extensions but the right I have are for 1/2" so I was only able to change one so far and i changed the plug for #3 and I looked at it.. I will get a macro picture of it later.. I also changed the plug wires around. when I do adjust my valves the valve cover gasket can be changed as well. Now back to trying to find that spare u-joint lost someplace around the house. I doubt using my breaker bar would be very fun.
  19. man this is crazy I'm going to buy a transmission in a few weeks.. I hope that car parts site is correct on prices.. I've never heard of this site before.. Do they have core charges or something? The prices are all over the place.. in like 5 weeks I'm going to be driving to Michigan.
  20. I did a video yesterday showing how the idle hangs a bit when snapping the throttle. I don't think I ever remember a Ej25 doing this?
