  1. haha I was hoping you were still active here did the dealer have the linkage part on hand or did they have to order it? I have some punch pins but I have to go check to see if I have the sizes you listed.. interesting I did not know it was two pins. If it keeps raining im going to have to put up a huge tent.
  2. That is not true about the dome piston thing about these engines. Ej25 from a 97 Outback interference engine http://home.comcast.net/~skipnospam/images/15-block_from_drivers_side.jpg problem is that and the valves can hit each other say a belt broke it's still going to have some movement which will for sure cause one of the cams to be off in which they hit each other plus the piston.
  3. yeah I know what it stands for I was just wondering because it seems like some cars ran without them plugged and some died not too long after starting without them connected.
  4. Is amazon the only one with the best price on the exedy clutch kit? http://www.amazon.com/EXEDY-KSB04-OEM-Replacement-Clutch/dp/B001B5EMS4/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1NR2LJRQSQ9UJ&colid=1NH884YY0W7K2 $141.95
  5. From the service manual if I have it, it would be under the kick panel on the drivers side? I can't tell if a after market alarm was installed because under the hood you can see here is a speaker but I'm not sure if thats the stock location.. In this picture it's right behind the MAF And inside in one of the blank panels is the red security light but does not have any words on it. having said that does anyone know the part number for it?
  6. Is that for the 2nd gens too? I ran my car without the MAF plugged in and while it ran the A/F ratio was nuts first time I've never seen the temp gauge climb higher then at normal operating temps. It never flat out died or anything.
  7. Go get the code read free at autozone/ advance auto flashing means it can damage the catalytic converter does the car feel like it misses? Did you happen to change the spark plugs?

    Jack Stands

I need to put the car on the stands front and back to test something after the transmission is back in.

    Jack Stands

hah I think I will have to search for some wood I had planned to get the trans jack and the jack stands at the same time.
  11. Thanks so much for the info for some reason I was seeing two part numbers for this year but this solves that!

    Jack Stands

So I will be buying my tranny jack next week and I need 2 pair of jack stands. I was looking at getting the 6 ton set from HF due to it's lift range http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/jack-stands/6-ton-jack-stand-set-38847.html It's min height is like the max lift for many jacks My concern is having enough lift to get the tranny from under the car.. Is the 6 ton overkill or can I get by with the 3 ton with it's 16 3/4" lift?
  13. spam? Anyways I'm about to order a few parts from Subaruparts and just my luck the friken grill clips are going to take longer then the other stuff.. Anyone know if dealers keep this on hand or is it all something they need to order? Anyways as far as the transmission side of things I have the two clips in the order for the TOB but what about that clip retainer which looks to be behind the clutch fork? Should that be ok? That shift rod bushing I will just get locally once I can figure out which design it is since it appears to have changed mid model years.
  14. When i get the car on Tuesday I just wanted to know maybe it's 97 issue or what.. It's been 5 years since I had a 2.5 motor but when you just tap the throttle the revs hang a bit before coming back down. I don't think I ever remember that happening on a 98 forester or my 03 I had.. maybe throttle body needs cleaning?
  15. Thank you for posting that piston picture people always thought I was nuts saying the EJ25 hardly had any piston skirts. from what I hear the skirt would hit the counter weights if they were longer on the Ej25.. I've never seen a Ej25 out and opened with the pistons at BDC but I'm sure it would be close.
  16. I agree with you on the meters most of the stuff I work on is not going to get killed easy by stray voltage but it's better to be safe then sorry.
  17. I think with a reading that low like less then 1 V you can treat it as being 0V that stuff used to bother me all the time working on electrical projects until a friend schooled me on it.. way more likey to bug you on a digital meter then say an analog one.
  18. Ah ok ugh well I ran into another roadblock with the dmv so it looks to be like Tuesday now when I can finally bring the car home.
  19. Dont know if its been said but the warped brakes feeling just could be the build up of brake pad materials on the rotor surface. I got tired of that feeling coming back in less then 100 miles so I switched to ceramic brake pads.
  20. My ultra Grey came in the mail today I know its not really the right stuff to use still but what else can I use it on?
  21. well %&*$^&( I have to wait until Tuesday now to get the car.. DMV says they need a pass from the town hall stating my property tax is up to date on the last car before I can get my plates.. So effin close.. I would of made it had the stupid mail guy did not come with my certify letter at 1 Pm.. town hall closes at 3:30 and closed weekends and the DMV is closed Monday...
  22. sweet I just got the title and bill of sale so away I go to pick the car up! at least it's going to be a nice day unlike tomorrows rainy day.
