  1. nice they should of came factory... I got yelled at by a driver why doing a video in my car and you can hear him say "use your signal" and in my video you can see my signal was flashing before I pulled up to the stop sign heh.
  2. Well I will update when I pull the transmission I will pick up the jack hopefully same day i don't know how quick I will get to the transmission, I just don't know if the jacks I have now are high enough I get about 17" of lift from them.
  3. I'm just as eager to open it up as anyone else but just set screws? Is that where they bend at? I remember when it last snowed I tried to pull a subie out of a snow bank in reverse and I noticed when I was unable to.. (I needed studs) When it was time to go back into 1st my car got stuck in rev for a few and i remember for a few days I had a hard time getting in and out of 4th gear but it was mostly when pulling out but it smoothed out
  4. Well I was going to ask because I'm searching here and i don't (so far) see any thread where someone replaced any of the shift forks.. the good thing is at least online at subaru parts it's $44 But how are they on the shift linkage? Are they held in by a pin or something like that? but until I open up the trans it's unknown to all of us what happened
  5. When I drop my tranny and open up the cover plate I will make sure I will post a clearer picture of whats show in the above picture.. It's still hard for me to make out what I'm looking at. My camera has a super macro mode so I can go as close as 2 inches

  7. So im thinking here when I check the linkage out im just looking for loose connection? Is the shift rod able to be moved under the car with ease?
  8. Do you have the part number for that part in the picture? *edit just noticed you said you don't have it
  9. hmmm check out post number 13.. *edit read from the start.. same issue but he said his was the shifter selector and had it fixed in one day so Gloyale was his problem what you are talking about checking in that cover? http://www.rs25.com/forums/f8/111290-shifter-fork-no-idea-whats-wrong-2.html#post1743845 Just searching on google for subaru shift forks I wonder how many are going to think it snapped?
  10. yeah I was lost on what "gear Link" meant.. Is this pin shown in any of your pictures in your thread? is this picture showing it here?
  11. really with it still bolted to the engine? maybe it's because when I was looking on my legacy I had a hard time fitting under the car without a lift and I'm a pretty small guy (125 LB) I think I will just drop the tranny however.. and I guess with everything open should i replace the clutch again or not? my legacy they put a new clutch in but left the old TOB which it rattled and rattled for like 2 years until it stopped doing it when clutching in.
  12. Oh I know for a fact that you can't get to the cover plate without getting the transmission out. From the email she sent me "I was driving and I was turning a corner in 1st and went to switch into 2nd and the car did a jerk and stopped. The engine was still running but when I tried to put it into 1st it wouldn't go 2nd same thing I even tried to put it in reverse and it wouldn't go." When I think of jerked and stop I think of locked wheels.. I'm not sure how strong the 5Mt gears are but I should expect broken teeth.. I mean it's no biggy I'm sure it's easy to find another transmission.. is the final drive on the case? Another thing thinking while typing she said she tried to move it to 2nd and reverse which might be possible the shifter still moves? I know it's not the same but when I totaled my legacy my shifter got stuck in first gear and it was impossible to move it (might of been because the motor shifted) i'm not too concerned about the pulling the rear I'm just curious how it did what it did.
  13. Hmm never thought of that.. as far as dropping the transmission out of the car any bolts in tight areas? I have air tools so I should be ok for that. I better go get that deadblow hammer i should of picked up months ago
  14. Haha somehow I just came to that thread looking at the google image search i'm going to save those pictures So in order to reset it I need to take the rear casing off the transmission? from your impression it seems like I just need to open up the cover plate and get the shift rod unstuck.
  15. Ahh your talking greek to me right now (no subaru transmission to look at) It's gotta be 4.11 as well.. Ok so let me understand.. I think the cover plate is on the top of the transmission right? But I don't understand where the rest of this stuff is (3 plugs, springs, and balls) Is that all in the cover plate or something that connects to the outside? and this lockout screw it's inside the plate as well? will a 5 MT that's open show these parts? I'm not sure if my haynes manual has it.
  16. The linkage that hooks to the shifter is that easy to remove? do you happen to know how high the tranny sits with the jack lowered? i know I searched here and someone said about using a tie- down strap I think that connects to where the pitch stop goes but do I have an area on the engine to hook the strap to? I can't remember if it had a mount point in the back.
  17. That's why I think it's a mix of parts perhaps someone with a CA emissions can chime in if they have two filter air boxes?
  18. I did not know above was a video.. anyways now that I know what your talking about that's just a plenum.. it stores air at whatever outside pressure level is so the engine has enough air to suck down as you know the 2.5L engines suck more in then a 2.2L so that's why the box is where it's at.. A Plenum is nothing but a hallow box.. most if not all indoor central A/C systems have a plenum as well. edit ok looked at the video it looks like a mix and match of parts..
  19. That tube is to cut down on the resonating sound of the intake.. I can't think of the proper name but it starts with an h.. just can't think of it right now. Also common for leaks to happen if someone pulls the box open from that tube.
  20. yep you can't feel it come off and when you close the airbox it moves like it's still on until you start it and it dies.
  21. it common for it to slip off if you lift the airbox up too high the rubber gets harder as it ages.. new rubber is soft and flexable. it's hard to disconnect it from the engine side because it's held on by a spring clip to the Idle air controller.
  22. OMG I wish I took a picture of this... as many of times this has happened to me with that fat hose coming off the intake box I still had to happen at least 3 times to me it will die on it's own. i'm going to check my picture to see if I took any of that area..
  23. I was looking at the same jack in the picture How did it work out for you? Did you have any problems having to tilt the transmission?
