  1. hmm maybe water go in where the crash sensors are behind the front bumper? well really mounted on the frame if I'm right. but they seem pretty well sealed.
  2. sometime next month I will be going out to check but for the time being I'm looking at some cars on CL and this is crazy.. a 1999 outback for $1595.. http://providence.craigslist.org/ctd/2248376835.html only thing is the seller says it stalls at lights and needs exhaust work.. hmm sounds like vac leak to me?
  3. poor Subie funny thing is my battery was tilted the same way.. did your car leak any fluids? I was shocked I never lost any coolant at all.
  4. So guess what.. i get a call from geico saying that i possibly did more then $10,000 worth of damage to the pickup truck... first of all i'm thinking to myself how the ************ I did that and the guy drove away after the cops came but later returned as i was just getting my car hooked up for the tow. And this happened like almost 3 weeks ago sounds like someone is trying to cash in if you ask me... i say that because my limit was $10k for property
  5. lets see if I can remember stuff to check for the 2nd gens more so anything with a Ej25.. 1.) let car warm up. 2.) look at overflow tank 3.) smell overflow tank 4.) drive in figure 8's 5.) check for rust in the common areas Anything I'm missing? If seller does not know when the timing belt was done just do it myself for piece of mind.
  6. It's been a while but how does it feel over a cable one? crazy question I know... I should of did this sooner but going to be getting rid of cable tv since I only watch maybe 1 hour or less a month it's pointless to keep paying $162 a month for it. Just quicker for me to reach my target date
  7. Nice thread.. I told a friend about this she took it to a friend that got the code and all.. I don't know if this friend knows Subarus but he was like the car might have two knock sensors.. I told her twice it only has one (her car is a 96 Legacy) So anyways she drove from CT to TN and i don't know when she will get it replaced.. and I doubt they will place the sensor back in the same position. I did my own sensor myself it was beyond simple..
  8. LOL I saw that pic in the other thread I just now noticed no lift haha that wont work for me since it's outside in a driveway.. a rather small one at that.
  9. I'd need to get a engine lift.. lack of yard space.. and then finding a motor..
  10. I would BUT... around the time I need to get the car I'd need to on the road a few days later more so if I do the last week in April.. After April the next trip will be a 325 mile drive to N.C. 2 months later.
  11. yep and make sure it's on level ground but I'm sure you knew that.
  12. hmm that's a shame.. I did see an 97 outback here for like $2500 if only I had the money right now..
  13. hahaha man i wont have enough saved until at least around end of April I can feel like I have enough to work with after bills and so on.. That a long time without another Subaru I do know the sway bars will be one of the first things I upgrade..
  14. yeah my SOHC was easy to do once you find the right marks.. So how do you keep the cams from popping out of place? Is it the same for the SOHC? I used a spring clip
  15. I go by whatever side is the lowest.. after 5 pulls of the stick if i still have a consistence reading then I add a little bit more oil.
  16. well hopefully it wont be a pain to do the timing belt.. all I remember is something like the cams can't be both turned the same way or something like that.. I'd just turn the whole engine over before hand before turning the key...
  17. hmm what about a 99? my late legacy was new from MA then later moved to NY then finally me the 3rd owner was here in CT. I did not think VT was big on salting the roads. my legacy only had 4 rust bubbles but no like huge holes or anything crazy like that.
  18. It seems like Vermont is the best place to find a 5MT without a crazy over priced amount.. about 200 miles from here which is not that bad. I've been before a few times.
  19. these are dumb ABS systems I highly doubt they would register that that's why the new cars have a weight sensor in the seat
